I've tried out a lot of butcher shops around Houston and drive to Katy area from Houston because this is by far the best shop I've come across. It's a more personable type of place. I feel assured buying my steaks here or any other cut because they're knowledgeable. I can ask any of them where the meat came from and when they got it. They have a wider selection of animal to choose from. Fish to wild game to cattle. They've even given me a sample of ground lamb to try! Now for how the meat tastes cooked. Frickin awesome!!!! You know when you buy a ribeye from your average grocery store and you go through the whole 9 of marinating and prepping and then cooking? And when you eat it, yeah it's alright but it's not anywhere close to "taste of Texas" quality? Well you won't have that feeling with the product from here. I can buy my bone in or boneless ribeye, NOT marinate it, and prep it that day, and then cook, and it will still taste 10x better than an heb or Kroger steak. All it needs is a little olive oil, some salt and pepper, and that's it. It's so good you don't have marinate it. It's still way more tender than anything else I've tried. If you're coming from Houston, more than worth the drive! If you're in Katy/cinco ranch area, oh what a gem you have!!!!! read more

We called back to ask and the man who answered was completely short, scoffed, and said "Google" before hanging up. What a wonderful find, after moving to the Katy/Richmond area. Marvin the owner pleasantly greeted me after I drove by and saw that they carry fresh seafood. I went in and checked out to see what they had available. All fish is frozen in sealed freezer packs, but it was my luck that he was receiving Wild Scottish Salmon on Monday. I placed my order and returned today and picked up a beautiful piece for our Veteran's Day dinner. I also purchased free range, cage free eggs. The meat looked amazing and he has such a passion for his business and customers. A very hospitable business owner that will only provide quality products for his customers. Marvin is the man. He educates and corrects you if you're wrong about cuts of meat. I like to challenge him to come up with various odd cuts of beef, he either does or tells me he'll try to locate. Not big on their chicken or pork products, but the CAB quality beef is excellent. Always has one of our favorites, picahna or rump cap, every time I go in there. Also found that he had some delicious frozen veal shanks . Those are hard to find period. Osso Bucco baby !!! Unless I drive all the way into Houston to Central Market, there is no one in Katy can touch their quality and service. Revised review: at the time I wrote my previous review, I had no idea what amazing salmon I would eventually be introduced to. By chance one day I walked in to purchase chicken, beef, pork chops...but by listening in on another customer's purchase, I found out about Scottish Salmon. Their product is good but when you place an order, make a half hour trip each way and arrive to have them tell you they sold it to someone else is not acceptable. They promise to make more and reserve it for you, and again you make the trip to hear the exact same story and tell you that that is all they can do is beyond terrible customer service. Moved down from Midwest and finally found a Butcher who makes excellent Italian Sausage and Bratwurst. Also tried the beef fajita meat last night and it was wonderful. So I needed some crab meat for dinner tonite. The 3 local grocery store stores in the area were out. So I called MEAT MASTERS in Katy on Fry Rd. The butcher didn't stock it but he said he will call one of his vender's to see bout getting me some delivered to his butcher shop for me to pick up. Long story short, he had me a pound of crab meat in an hour! THATS SERVICE YOU DON'T GET ANYWHERE ELSE. I've never had some body go out of the way like that for a customer just for a 15.00 jar of crab meat. Marvin was super nice! Great little "old school" butcher shop. What an awesome amenity to have in our neighborhood! Marvin is the Man!! If there is something you want, he can get it. I no longer buy my meat at the local grocery store since the meat at Meat Masters is so top notch. The sausage he makes is a family favorite at our house and my daughter is always begging me to get filet mignon from there for dinner. Plus, in a pinch, grab some of his already prepared BBQ pork! Amazing butcher. Nice and informative. He walked me through the cuts and showed me a test piece to see if this is what I wanted. I bought 7 1in thick ribeyes and they were amazing. I cooked them with some risotto and steak sauce and everyone and I mean everyone fell in love with the meat. When I come back to Texas this is my butcher. He makes a killer homemade kielbasa, sausages, and has a complete selection of meats. Plus he gets some good buys on fish, so be sure to ask. Wasn't impressed. I read all the great reviews on here so I was really looking forward to my trip to Meat Masters. It turned out to be a very small place with not a lot of fresh meat on display. Most of what I saw in the case were the same brands of lunch meats I can buy at HEB or Kroger. I came for the freezer pack advertised on their website and didn't notice until after I left that I had been charged $10 more than the price advertised on their site. When I cooked the meat, I didn't really notice any difference between it and the grocery store meats I usually buy. (Except for the inflated price, of course) I must mention that the owner did go through his "I haven't seen you here before, is this your first time coming?" routine. Seemed like a nice enough guy, I just didn't see the variety and quality of meat I was looking for. I tried B&W Meats off 290 next and had a better experience there.
