What a lucky find on a Saturday night in Amsterdam. Order at the counter or dine in the small Greek restaurant. Definitely worked up an appetite after a long day visiting the windmills in Zaanse Schans and museums in Amsterdam. It was a challenge to find a restaurant for dinner without a wait, but so fortunate to find a table for four at Meat & Greek. Gyros and a plates were perfect. Our friends got the pork gyros. Split the Chef's Special Dish with the green gyro option with my husband. The dish was a huge portion. "Chicken" gyro with mixed salad, cherry tomatoes, red onions, homemade yogurt, feta cheese, tzatziki and fig jam. A pillowy soft pita on the side. Delicious. Could have taken some extra fig jam to go. Was super curious about the green gyro option so chatted with Alexis (?) for a while about the process and also checked out their gyro vertical rotisserie set up. They sell about 5 kg of green gyros a day. The vegan protein is seasoned the same way as the pork gyros. It is then sliced as ordered and cooked on the grill as ordered to give it that nice gyro texture. So delicious. Thanks to Alexis for explaining the process. Interesting to see the steady stream of to go traffic for takeout orders. They are busy for a reason. Added a charitee green tea and a Coke Zero. Dinner was just 26.50 euros for two. This has got to be one of the best spots to eat for this trip so far.. I Came here with friends on our ladies trip. Cost about 12/13 euros per gyro. Not bad because it was so worth it. Solid place to grab some lunch. I went with The Classic as a dish and while I really enjoyed the seasoning on the meat, some of meat pieces were a little burnt and I ran into a couple fatty pieces too. The pita bread was crazy good though! Super soft, cooked just right, and perfect for piling on the cucumber/tomato/feta/meat! Not a fan of their greek yogurt though so I steered away from eating that. The meal itself was substantial and incredibly filling - even without eating everything in front of me. You get a lot of food. I wouldn't mind eating here again and trying something else. It's great that they have the option to choose exactly what you want in your pita/dish. It's a small space with limited seating but we were lucky enough to grab a table during the lunch hour. Staff was friendly too. Worth the stop - especially if you're a fan of authentic tasting gyros and pitas. read more

The food and service was excellent! I didn't think the servings would be so large until we got our food. What a pleasant surprise! Definitely one of the best values in Amsterdam. It's the morning after we had dinner there, and I'm already thinking about going back for dinner later. It's a small location that could seat a total of 20 people, so plan on doing a takeaway order. We got lucky where we arrived before the crowd, so we got a couple of the tables. If they keep it up, we may see them open multiple locations soon! read more

We were actually looking for another Greek restaurant and we couldn't find it so instead we landed here. Kind of like an American version of fast casual Greek food. Very very good. They do charge extra for each additional topping in your wrap or bowl. The meal was fantastic, so good that we even considered going back there to eat for a second time. We did not do that simply because Amsterdam has so many fantastic restaurants, and they we wanted to try new places. read more

Greeted warmly and asked to select from the menu of gyros and other pita based Greek dishes and they are good at explaining. We squeezed in at a table and each had the chefs plate and the pita sandwich - it was delicious. Tzatziki a little plain but the meat and added sauce was what made this pop. It was big portion for the price but worth it. Great place for a quick lunch or takeaway. I give it 3 stars not for the quality of the food but it is takeaway and has a small menu. read more

So glad I stumbled upon this place the old school way. While walking down the street hungry, I noticed this cute place half filled with people. The menu looked promising and I was welcomed inside by friendly inviting staff. Got a gyro pita with feta chili topping. That creamy feta chili topping was so good. I haven't had it before but was told it's a traditional Greek sauce. I even looked up the sauce so I can figure out how to make it myself. The pita was €7.50 which is a fair price. Great Greek stop in Amsterdam. The meat and fixings were so fresh. One of the best things we've had in Europe so far!

Something about me living places and Gyro shops opening up is a bit odd. Always happens one opens near me. So I was pretty excited about Meat and Greek. The menu is small three pita options, salad, sides. Of the pita options is 'pork gyro', 'lamb & beef sausage', and 'veggie'. I ordered the lamb and beef for take out with some fries as I don't like swine. You can add some toppings I asked for tzatziki and olives. The pita, nicely wrapped, was a bit of a disappointment. It was really kinda a hot dog in a pita. I think it should have been butterflied and grilled to get some extra char and flavor and make it more of a 'slice' per se. Whole thing was kinda cold by the time I got home (1.5 blocks away). The fries were good and crispy. Whole thing was about 12€. I can't say I'd come back but I didn't get their headliner act (the pork gyro)...that said there's a better Greek mom and pop deli across the Amstel that will keep my attention for now. read more

Dined here 8/22/2017 and absolutely loved it. We both had a gyro, one with creamy feta and the other with meat sauce. The meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Me and my brother ordered here for the first time this evening through Deliveroo. One vegetarian gyros plate and one with meat. It looked absolutely delicious. We had one small problem, which was that the vegetarian dish only had a few pieces of vegetarian gyros. We called, and despite it was very busy at their restaurant they sent us a new complete meal (with extra's). This was very very much appreciated. Delicious! We saw this place open up in our neighborhood and decided to try it. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the pork gyros pita with traditional tzatziki sauce and a feta cheese sauce with chilis recommended by the woman who helped us. The pork was delicious, marinated and carved fresh and the feta cheese sauce added an excellent zip. The bread even great, soft and grilled just enough to give it a little crisp on the outside. I'll say this didn't match the gyros in Athens, but we will definitely be going back. read more
