Worst customer service ever. Called a number to ask for help with a large order. HQ was pissed and short that I called them even though their automated system directed me to them. Told me to call nursery at Chantilly, did, they quickly transferred me to another number who told me that I needed to call the nursery. Told her that I had, she asked "why would they transfer you to me?" Unbelievably short, rude, unhelpful experience. My experience ended as quickly as it began. Left detailed vm describing the need for a consult for 80-100 yards of privacy hedges, location, etc. Received call back (couldn't hear her name) from rep giving me the boiler plate pitch. She went on to say, "landscaping can mean a lot of things, you may want plants, sod, deer repellant plants, etc. Strange considering the detailed vm I left. Once she had wrapped up I stated again what I specifically was wanting. From that point she ran me through the fees to come out, how much time their engineers had, etc. Meadows Farms essentially had my business until they didn't. I told the rep I'm not interested in consulting fees to come out when I know what I want. Just come out to get a look at the space, we'll pick the right shrubs, and we're off to the races. I also mentioned this is probably just the beginning meaning, if I like the service I have plenty of other projects to do. Her response was, "Have a nice day" followed by an immediate hangup. It was that quick. In response to the young lady I would like to say, in learning the level of professionalism from you over the phone I am in fact having a nice day. Bullet dodged on my end. By my estimates and in looking at what we would like to do for the short term (this spring / summer) we are expecting to spend approximately 10k-15k at least. I expect we will still spend that amount however, after the call and hangup from the young lady, not a penny of it will be with Meadows Farms. read more

If so, I want to talk to you about reviewing your contracts and invoices for potential accounting issues. We hired Meadows Farms for a multi-year, high-dollar landscaping project based on trust and their reputation I remembered growing up in this area. During the project, I uncovered massive overcharges, unauthorized work, and deceptive billing. Their senior manager of 35 years, Sanford Silver, misused company resources for personal gain, invoiced unauthorized projects, and even solicited fraudulent charitable donations. Jay Meadows and senior leadership had no idea what their people were doing or where their equipment was. Without any oversight, who knows how many other people were affected like we were? If we hadn't uncovered this and brought it to their attention, this would still be happening. I presented clear evidence to Jay Meadows, the owner of Meadows Farms. He immediately fired Silver, promised to address the accounting, and then went silent for two months. When I met him for breakfast to follow up, Jay refused to investigate further, denied responsibility, and walked away. If I hadn't exposed this, Sanford Silver would still be employed and defrauding customers. If you've done a large-scale project with Meadows Farms, especially with their key accounts managers or designers, check your invoices. If you suspect overcharges or discrepancies, contact me--I can help review your contracts. This wasn't a mistake. We love Meadows Farms Nurseries! The staff are super friendly and helpful. I enjoy taking my toddler there to pick out plants and see the decorations around holiday times. He plays in the kids section (South Riding location) and the staff always make sure to point out new features. Recently we got to explore the caterpillar cocoons. Purchased 9 plants of various types in April 2025 and had them "installed' by Meadows Farms. 1 rhododendron was dead by July 2025. Another is not doing well. As per their "warranty policy", I contacted the company to have it replaced. A rep visited my home in August, stated that they would replace in the fall. That rep quit. No service continuity. Have called, emailed, sent pix, stopped by. As of 3/20/26, still no replacement. Their warranty policy is non-existent in reality - just a "feel-good paper" and an empty promise. read more

I had hired Pepe Ayulo, Landscape Designer & Hardscape Specialist, to come out to create a design for our front yard in Sept 2024. He did a fantastic job designing the most beautiful gardens for our single family home. I have been working with Pepe for over 12 years now, and this had to have been my 4th major project with him and the incredibly, hard work install crews. I am so pleased, once again, I am requesting that he please come out for another quick design of 2 smaller gardens before it is too late in the Fall/season. On the day of installation, the foreman and his crew called ahead of time, arrived on time, spent plenty of time carefully following the design. They worked hard to make sure we were happy. The foreman and his crew could not have been more friendly. They were super respectful, hardworking, and a pleasure to work with. I took photos of 2 dead trees to show them as proof, the lady told me that it was the same tree not two different trees. I chose not to argue with her because I knew I wasn't lying. How about improving on honesty. You planted a crepe Myrtle in our front yard last summer (2023). I called in Sep of that year to complain there were no blooms. Response was it's a late blooming Myrtle so give it time. Well it's Sep 2024 and we have maybe 6 blooms. All on 1 side. The tree looks spindly and stick like. Your customer service said to put blooming fertilizer on it because your warranty doesn't cover blooming, only dead trees. That's nuts. Myrtle's all over the place are in full bloom. So we have an ugly Myrtle. (Apologies to those named Myrtle). Wanting to improve our new home with color we have nothing. Our neighbors are surprised it's not warranty covered. We bought a Christmas tree on Sunday morning 11/24/24. We live about 10 - 15 minutes away. We had them give it a fresh cut before we left and had it in water within a few minutes of getting home as we had everything ready to go when we got home. We also added the tree food as recommended by the folks at the Nursery. Overnight it drank nothing. I checked on it later in the evening and still it drank nothing. I called the Nursery and talked with one of the managers (Lane) that was there. He said that the tree is fresh and therefore would drink water slowly. It barley drank any thing the entire time we had it. It was losing needles daily and we didnt think it would make it to Christmas. In reality it didnt. Losing as many needles as it had and starting to turn brown. Worse looking Christmas tree I ever had. Never going to buy a Christmas tree let alone anything else from there again. John O. read more

Leaf removal service - Grady Morris and Mariano Jr. did an amazing job and the price was worth it. Not only did they clean and remove leaves from the yard but were extremely thorough; removing piles of leaves that were perhaps years old and some old branches, clearing the patio, and moving things out of the way to get at pretty much all the leaves. I wasn't home but when I got home, I was truly amazed. Also, they worked with me to setup the online account service lawngateway. Finally, we had a ton of rain and snow the night before. They assessed the situation, determined that rescheduling when the leaves were more dry would be better, and did that within a week without any hassle for us. read more

I just wanted to say I have never met such an amazing worker/employee as Grace she is just the nicest person ever. I really don't know much about plants so when I walk in and I see grace, I asked her about different plants and I was astonished and baffled by Grace's knowledge with plants. I asked her how she knew all this stuff and she said she just knew it. I was left in awe, this girl needs a promotion. I can tell she is such a hard worker and can not believe that other woman had such a bad experience with Grace. This is by far (it's far from me) but the BEST nursery ever. I visited the Annandale location which I loved, but they informed me this place would have a variety of even more indoor plants. (caladiums/monsteras). They even had an elephant plant!!! It's large and would keep any plant lover stuck in here like a happy boy in a candy shop. They truly do have a vast collection of plants. Varying from outdoor shrubs and indoor succulents or tropical plants. People are down to Earth and the prices are extremely generous. Especially when you sign up to be a VIP (Very Important Planter!) Had a great experience with Meadows Farms Nurseries! My account manager, Grady M. came out promptly upon my request and ran through everything I wanted done. He was extremely responsive and got me a quote that day, identified a mistake and corrected it, called me and told me about the new lower price! On the day of the service Baltazar, the foreman, was extremely responsive. They got here on time, reviewed the required service and got to work. The yard looks fabulous and the entire crew was extremely friendly. I highly recommend them! There are many places to buy plants but I like to go to Meadows Farms nurseries for its 'customers service' of the staff and the 'experience' of a smaller business. I purchased, and returned 2 Christmas trees in as many days to Costco Chantilly because they were TINY and bare for $32. I was so disappointed and frustrated but because we only live a few miles from Meadows Farms, we stopped in to check them out expecting $100 trees. We were FLOORED at this place. They have a big fire pit out back and they have free popcorn, cider, hot chocolate, cookies, and tea. In addition, the tree prices start at $25 and the $25 ones were MUCH bigger than the ones at Costco. Not only that, all the trees are propped up and full so you can see exactly what they will look like. Once you pick out a tree (they had huge, gorgeous ones for $35-Costco price and MUCH bigger), you tell the people working there and they carry it, and wrap it for you. In addition, they trim the bottom and cut any branches off that you want cut off. They also bring it out and put it on your car. We also purchased a packet of Christmas tree nutrient powder stuff for 74 cents. We love that place now and that has now become our new family tradition. read more

We had general landscaping of back and front yards, mulching and clearing out of some very overgrown plants including large pampas grass plants. Joey and crew did an excellent job in landscaping. This company is beyond incompetence and miscommunication. After dealing with them for almost two months to buy two cubic yard of soil, I was transferred multiple times between landscaping and some other department because they simply didn't know which of the two departments could deliver soil. They kept getting confused because I wanted the soil delivered but also dumped in my raised beds. After much back and forth it appeared that the neurons in their brains clicked and we scheduled a delivery date. I clearly told Cristina to send a small truck because I live in DC and big trucks can't turned the alley down to my back yard. Her answer: "Oh yeah, no problem we got this. We deliver to DC all the time." Well Cristina brain neurons were not working right that date because a few days later a huge truck was sent and the guys driving the truck tried and as expected, the truck couldn't make the turn to the alley. I called them to refund me my money and wouldn't do business with them even if they gave me a 80% discount. When you call them the staff is rude and you can tell they hate working there because when they answer the phone they sound rushed and stressed. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE INCOMPETENTS! read more

Purchaced 2 larger trees and paid $50 to have them deleivered 14 miles down the road. One died immediately, the other has started to get warm bags on the branches. They cost about $350.oo delivered. Called them talked to manager that said , keep watering . Basically too bad. If you pay another $50 dollars and haul the tree in , we pay you half the price of the trees, if under 6 months.. Not really a bad deal for them, but a terrible deal for customers who pay a lot of money and get dead trees that we need to haul back in and get half what we paid for.... even a small nurseries give full refund with receipt within one year. Advice-Save your money and time -do'nt buy any expensive plant or larger shrubs from them!! read more
