I read many reviews on Yelp, and after evaluating many contractors, I decided to use Yelp's project tool to contact Clark Innovative. When you do this, you get responses from many other companies too. Many reached out before Chris from Clark did. I ended up making an appointment with one of them to have them take a look at it. This person began has contract biz recently... and he did not seem confident. The way he was looking at it, he was reacting in a way that seemed like it's a bit of a pain in the you-know-what job and said it was going to cost a lot. He was a nice guy, but he did not instill confidence in me that he knew what he was doing. (He never even sent me a bid) After that, I wondered if I should reach out to these other companies that responded, but my intuition was telling me to wait a bit longer. Clark did eventually respond with apologies, and made an appointment to come look. They looked at it and just the way he was acting, I could tell this person knew what they were doing, and they came up with a solution to just replace the rotted portion, saving us half the cost! (So yeah, I believe the innovative part of their name!) It was all incredibly reasonable. Dates were pushed back etc, because of rain and other things, but I honestly didn't mind it. Chris tried to be a good communicator, and even when he wasn't, I could contact him and he'd respond. He was just busy. Sometimes, you can just tell with people who is being genuine. Who wants to simply do a good job for you, without gouging you or ripping you off. We need more of these people in the world right now. I'm glad I listened to my intuition, and waited for the right company to do the job. And I will definitely use them again for future work. It's really nice to have a good contractor in our back pocket.

They had a bad answering service, so they fired them and now phones go unanswered. Bills are never sent. Customers are somehow supposed to intuit what they owe despite not knowing what services cost nor what services are performed. Appointments are scheduled via text message. There is no way to communicate if that works but often the technician doesn't show. Most of the time our technician is very kind and will let us know. But he's taking that on himself. He also lets me know my balance due. But, it is up to the service rep. We didn't always have such great, caring guys.

Jason was hired to replace 2 sides of an existing redwood fence. The new fence was not put in the…read moresame place as the old-it was pushed in over 2' in some places. Cross boards are inconsisten, some not cut at the correct angle, many not making any contact. There are nails that completely miss the wood, the pedestrian gate hardware broke immediately. The driveway gate (cheap cattle gate) began to sag the following week-he said he would replace it with a quality gate and would reinforce the gate posts. Rather than cutting the boards to the correct size when going over redwood roots, they ran a skill saw along the top of the fence boards, in a very uneven line. The entire job was horrible. When we brought these issues to Jason's attention (he was not on the job once after doing the estimate), he assured us that he would fix/ replace all of the issues. Then, the excuses began (from he and his wife-office manager): he had fired the 2 men that had done our job and was shorthanded. He injured a leg and needed surgery. He had an infection in his lungs- then a spot on his lungs...it went on and on for more than 2 years. Still, he has not fixed a single issue! Find someone else! You'll be glad you avoided Cambra Contracting!!! I wish we had!

This was a frustrating and unprofessional experience from start to finish. We initially received a…read moreproposal, but once work started, we realized some things needed to be adjusted. We asked THREE times for a revised price, and each time, we got nothing but excuses. He kept stalling and avoiding giving us an updated proposal, which was a huge red flag. I finally had to issue a stop-work order because I wasn't going to let things continue without knowing what I was actually being charged. Then, that night, he suddenly sends over a new proposal--full of charges for work that was NEVER done and an extra $1,000 that was never agreed upon. To make matters worse, there was never a signed contract. By law, a contract must be signed before work can begin, yet he completely ignored this requirement. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about how he does business. On top of that, I looked him up on the state contractor's board and couldn't even find a license. Maybe I missed it, but the fact that I had to go looking in the first place is a massive red flag. If he's unlicensed, that's a serious issue, and if he is licensed, he certainly doesn't act like a professional. The only reason I'm even giving one star is because the painter he brought in was actually great. Otherwise, this would be a zero-star review. Save yourself the headache, the stress, and the money--stay FAR away from this company
