I have always had nice, thick, and generally long hair. However during quarantine I did some diy hair dye and hair cuts. Constantly trying to dye my own hair and lifting color myself damaged the lower half of my hair to where it was constantly frizzy, tangled, and there was a lot of breakage. I tried to do hair masks every two days to try to get my hair back to its normal healthy state, but no luck. So I went in to Method Salon to chop off all of the damaged hair. I told Tim, as I have told all of my past hairdressers, to do whatever he thought would look best and to cut off what was needed to make my hair look healthy! Tim did a fantastic job of working with me to find a style that would flatter my face shape and making sure that I was ok with the length! I ended up buying two of the products that Tim used on my hair too-- the Oribe Dry Shampoo and the Oribe Split End Seal. They smell heavenly and make my hair look like I just stepped out of a salon. I am so glad to be back to getting compliments on my hair!

Told her I had no idea, other than I wanted a little zing of color - maybe something underneath? And she helped me pick a color and a gameplan. We did just a hint of this gorgeous red/purple/cherry cola-ish color underneath, and a medium brown to cover up a few of my grays (I mean, a few of my strands of glitter, lol) And then she put a couple long soft layers in (havent had layers like , ever, and was very apprehensive). I'm already thinking about how we might up the game next time I go back. :) Pricewise, we came out to $155 (before tip) for the cut & color, which included a $40 conditioning treatment. Not sure if that treatment its somehtign I'll need every time, but it was worth doing this time. Also, Cianna recommend some hair care and products but did not push a hard sell (which was very nice). The salon was pretty busy when I was there (a Friday afternoon) and all the other clients looked like they were getting great cuts/colors as well. Since it was my first time there, I have nothing to compare but I *think* maybe some of the salon was a little under construction - maybe a bit of a remodel, becuase the seating area under the dyers and some of the area area around the washing station was a little cramped (not "spa" feeling) - but based on other reviews about hte atmosphere, I'm guessing this might be temporary. Not to mention she gives the best scalp massages, this is really why I get haircuts! ‍ Another thing I really appreciate is that they have a front desk person. They notify the stylist you've arrived so you don't have to wait long and they help with payments and appointment scheduling. I get text reminders when I have an appointment coming up. I've bought product here and been happy with it too. Probably most important and what you're interested in--the price feels reasonable. I can come and walk out with both a cut and a tip for around $50. This, aside from my relationship with my stylist, is one of the main reasons I've consistently returned. If you're new to the area, The Beauty Bar is a great hairdresser to try out. See if Ella has a free spot for you!

I would not recommend this salon for mesh integration systems or other high-cost, technical hair…read moreservices. I spent several thousand dollars on a mesh integration/topper and extensions after relying entirely on professional guidance. The system was installed incorrectly, and once the initial styling settled, the placement issues were clear. I returned in person specifically to have the installation corrected. Instead of fixing the issues, I was told I would need to wait approximately 8 weeks until my next scheduled visit for a reinstall. For a service of this complexity and cost, being asked to live with an improperly installed system for weeks is unacceptable. The topper color also failed quickly. Within about three weeks, it faded back toward a lighter/blonde tone and no longer matched my brown hair. This is an integrated system worn with natural hair, and color compatibility is a basic functional requirement. I was sold this based on color and texture pattern matching, which was not represented honestly or transparently, as the hair is heavily pre-processed and does not hold color that is dyed at the salon. There were also billing transparency issues. I later discovered--only after requesting an itemized receipt--that I had been charged for extension hair that was never installed or physically provided to me. Despite raising this issue, I was never refunded for the incorrect billing. Overall, this experience showed a lack of technical expertise, inadequate quality control, and poor transparency for a service that requires precision and experience. If you are considering a mesh integration or similar system, I strongly recommend seeking out a salon in a major hub (such as Chicago) with extensive, specialized experience in these systems. This is not a service that should be handled without proven expertise. Do not get mesh integration at this salon.

Every time I go to MDG, I have the most wonderful experience! The place is very clean and the staff of very friendly and professional. I get my hair colored by Carrie. I feel like I can totally trust her with my hair and take a risk and know that it will turn out even more amazing than I could have imagined. I always come in with pictures of color tones I would like to try and she makes it work for my skin tone and face shape. She truly is a color wiz and does great event and prom hair too! I recently moved to Carmel from Chicago, where I had lived for twelve years and went to a wonderful hair salon in Bucktown. It's always hard to find a new salon and stylist when you move to a new city but I had the great fortune on my first try to find Lauren Hunter at MDG Salon in Carmel. I've been going to MDG for a couple years, and I've had nothing but a wonderful experience! The staff is welcoming and professional. The studio is clean and really cool. I get my hair cut and colored by Carrie, and she does an amazing job! I always come in with some pictures of cuts/colors I'd like to try, and she makes it a reality that will fit me and my hair texture, my skin tone, my face shape, and my level of hair maintenance. Katea Adkins is my favorite stylist I've ever had--I live out of state now, and still come back to MDG just to see her! I'm always completely happy after she cuts and styles my hair, and I usually let her have free rein after showing only a few photos for inspiration. She always helps me find the look I want! I recently got married and had her style my hair for the wedding. This salon has exceeded my expectations. I'd visited a few others and actually landed here to follow stylist Carrie Bergman. The salon itself is easy to get to, has ample parking, and the entire staff is attentive and makes you feel like you belong there. Carrie herself I can't say enough about. Yet again, she absolutely crushed it. I gave very minimal direction: highlights, a money piece, a trim, and something low-maintenance that I'd feel comfortable letting grow out for a while. Aleiah absolutely NAILED it. My hair lifts blonde really well, but in the past I've usually found myself reaching for purple shampoo immediately because the tone wasn't quite what I loved. This time? Not even close. Aleiah completely exceeded my expectations and officially earned a client for life. I had been stressed about moving back and finding someone I could trust with my hair again, and it was so refreshing catching up with such a thoughtful stylist and genuinely wonderful person. For future reference: ask for a teased, light, lived-in blonde with highlights. I'm obsessed and already counting down until my next appointment.

The second thing I loved is that they have online booking system - well hello, we are in 2024 and if there isn't an option to book online, it is a no go for me because guess what.. most of my appointments get booked at midnight! I booked with Ali after following her on instagram for a couple months and when I reached out to her, she was quick to respond and answered my questions.. I also love that many stylists like Ali switch between the two Indie Mane locations - downtown and north side, so it offers flexibility to choose without changing the stylist. My first impression of the Indie Mane North salon - it's chic! I could tell that the owner has put in great effort in the salon interiors. The hair wash area was also pretty fancy with dim lights and earthy vibes. They use Kevin Murphy products and while I'm new to this product line, I'm excited to try those. The service prices are clearly listed on the booking portal which is a bonus point for transparency, and the prices vary by the stylist level (again a good thing to suit people with varying budgets).
