Went to see the 2003 Mini Cooper as advertised on Cars.com…read more Was in pretty good shape and told they fixed a tire pressure gauge, put in a new BMW clutch, and a 3month service package was included to cover the transmission and engine. Everything sounded good-- until I came back from the test drive. I stalled once in the car upon turning it on (low releasing clutch)but otherwise drove smoothly. Trusting that he knew a safe, reasonable course I went on a test drive with he salesman, Charles Eid. After a while he took me on a very steep hill from a complete stop in a car full of 4 adults (which was definitely a challenge). When I had difficulty, he stepped in and even he stalled the car and had difficulty getting up the hill. He drove the car back and once I got on the lot proceeded to tell me that I had burned out the clutch (because you could smell a little when both he and I had difficulty on the hill-- which also had a speed bump), the car was un-sellable, and I would have to pay them. He asked "Well are you going to buy the car? If not, we have to split the cost of a new clutch." If one little ride burned out the clutch, the car is a LEMON!! He wouldn't have been able to drive the car back (and as vigorously as he did, speeding through the streets and accelerating fast from a stop) if the clutch was completely gone and "Un-usable" as he said. He proceeded to say the car is "fragile"-- anyone who has driven a BMW or Mini (or seen the Italian Job or Bourne Identity) knows these are hearty cars. Plus, whenever you install new brakes, clutch, etc-- with the first couple of drives you can smell a little burn from USE! Unbelievable LIES from these people!! Besides, in the event anything happens to the car on a test-drive or on the lot-- the INSURANCE covers it! By LAW they have to insure the car-- or it can't even leave the lot!! HE WAS TRYING TO TAKE ADVANTAGE AND PRESSURE ME TO BUY THE CAR USING SCARE TACTICS! Good thing I know many lawyers-- one quick call while I was there and I was advised they were in the WRONG, and to walk away. No liability on my end. So much for the other good reviews-- this is definitely a "STAY AWAY" and "DO NOT RECOMMEND" place, only wish I could have given 0 stars.

My best friend got into a collision and totalled his 6 day old Honda Accord. Having experienced the…read moresame thing with my Toyota Camry some years back, I encouraged him to pick up his wits and conquer the road again by finding a replacement immediately. He followed my advice, did extensive googling, and came across a used Mini Cooper listed at Murphy's Motors that matched his desired budget and mileage comfort level. We called them and made an appointment to see the car. The co-owner Andrew addressed all the questions we had about the Carfax report on the Mini. Upon meeting Andrew and inspecting the car, he handed us the key to test drive the Mini. We drove it around and fell in love with it. We got back and sat down with Andrew to discuss the feasibility of owning this car. We asked Andrew for the lowest monthly rate he can give. He showed us different payment scenarios and how the financing schemes work and answered all our questions. Unlike previous used car dealers we went to, Andrew did not hard-sell the car to us nor imposed that we use the banks that he dealt with. He even encouraged us to apply for an auto loan with the bank of our choice for the best rate, and that's what my bff did. A week later, we received promising news from the bank that he applied at. We went back to Murphy's Motors and gave Andrew the news that we want the car and are probably able to finance it upon final word from the bank. He handed us the key and said, "I trust you guys, take the car and consider this an extended test drive while we are still waiting from the final bank approval." We were shocked at how trusting he was with us. A week later we received news from the bank that there was going to be a delay with the approval due to his previous loan. He just said, "Just keep the car for 30 days and see what happens." Unbelievable! Another week passed and the temporary registration on the mini expired and the loan couldn't get approved in time, unfortunately, because of his loan issues from the previous car. So we returned the car at this point - we had the car for 21 days to test drive! What dealer does that?!? I kept telling Andrew that he was an angel because my buddy was so devasted with his accident and Andrew's positive and laid back attitude was a warm layer amidst the dread of a 50% increase in insurance rates. He was there when we needed him. We've never met anybody who has a pure and honest heart like this guy. You can talk to him and not be harassed like any other dealerships do to vulnerable customers! He ultimately wants his customers to be happy with their purchase and if it doesn't work out, no hard feelings will be exchanged. Even his employees reflect how he runs his business - with kindness and generosity. His mechanic Elmer, is a great dude too! We learned a lot from him. So please, check out Murphy's Motors' inventory. If you like any of the cars that he has, Andrew will definitely make sure that it meets your criteria on used cars. Also our advice is for you to do your own research and learn more about the car that you are interested in so you can ask the right questions. Andrew has a reliable crew of people working for him so if you buy your car from him, he will not be that usual used car salesman who will bamboozle you into buying a lemon.
