Rather than writing an entire novel I'll give some examples. I'm long distance caregiving for my parents and they make it incredibly easy to communicate with them. My mom loves the activities and they send me pictures almost everyday of her smiling and delighted to be there. Their attention to detail is incredible no health concern goes unaddressed and they often notice signs and symptoms before my parents do and get them care promptly. They even went as far as throwing my parents an anniversary party including taking my mom to the salon and getting her nails and hair done for the occasion. Worth every penny! Well, after we've been there for three years. The progress for my grandmother has been ok. Nor…read morebetter nor worst. My grandmother now has chronic bronchitis is currently being managed at best. Due to the pandemic hype, they thought it was covid. Thank goodness it was not. My grandmother has gained quite a bit of weight. She came in at 145lbs; however, she had some aerosol meds for respiratory problems and limited mobility. She's now 177lbs. The new staff is trying their best to keep her moving and walking when they can and are available. The nursing home has followed the CDC guidelines. Today my grandmother is Tripple vaccinated, and St. Annes keeps strict rules for visitors, residents, and staff members. Please know that the best place for any older adult is to be at home. However, the high cost of having 24hour care at home is not financially feasible for every family.

It can take days for them to return a call if they even return it! When meds are prescribed it takes days for them to be delivered to the facility. Dr Chris says he's going to do something but doesn't follow through. Dr Chris wanted to move my son to their facility which was an hour and a half from my home....who does that?? Definitely for his convenience but not mine nor my son's.

1-STAR REVIEW FOR VITAS HOSPICE…read more Title: Disorganized, Unreliable, and Emotionally Devastating Experience Our experience with VITAS Hospice in Port St. Lucie was deeply disappointing and added tremendous emotional stress during an already devastating time. We spent two full days communicating with their team, including their admissions coordinator, who repeatedly told us everything was "set up" -- transportation, medical equipment, oxygen, the transfer of our father, etc. We were told to drive to Clearwater Saturday morning and "be ready" because everything was already being handled. That was not true. After hours of phone calls, repeated promises of "we'll call you back in 30 minutes," and speaking with supervisors and a business administrator, NOTHING had been arranged. No transportation. No delivery of equipment. No follow-through. No accountability. Just excuses and apologies. We drove three hours to Clearwater in a panic, believing our father was being transferred, only to find out absolutely nothing had been processed. When a hospice company tells a grieving family "don't worry, we're taking care of it" -- and then does nothing -- that is more than a mistake. It is cruel and emotionally damaging. Hospice is supposed to provide comfort and support. Instead, VITAS left us feeling abandoned, misled, and scrambling to save the situation at the last minute. We immediately contacted Treasure Coast Hospice -- and they accomplished in one hour what VITAS failed to do in two full days. We would never want another family to go through what we went through.
