History
Established in 2010.
I have worked as an employee and independent contractor, for spas, hotels, sports teams and a fitness club. over that time I gained valuable professional skills, and developed an understanding of the industry and market.
I found each of the positons I held, restrictive in some manner. I decided I wanted to become self employed so I could offer a range of high quality treatments with genuine compassion.
I want to be able to do what I love, feel good about it and make a reasonable wage, without the politics and strategies of a bigger business, getting in the way of the service.
Spas seem to be either totally 'chi chi' and expensive, 'cookie-cutter' and rushed, or clinical and cold, each have there own strengths but are lacking in certain areas. I wanted to be able to offer clinical massage in a comfortable, serene environment at an affordable price. I now have a clean quiet elegant studio, in a peaceful convenient building. I aim to provide excellence and hope to continue to grow
Meet the Business Owner: David M.
I grew up in an Irish village 75 miles west of Belfast. I developed an interest in physical training and sports performance in my mid teens. When I was 18 I took a two year course in sports therapy, at the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education and at 21 completed a 3 month 40-hr-per-week course in Sports therapy and personal training.
Since finishing these courses I worked in various positions such as, a sports therapist for a Gaelic football team and hurling team. I also spent a year working in 4 & 5 star hotels in central London, before moving to Santa Barbara -where I married my wife- in 2006. I have worked in two day spas for the past four years.
Over the 10 years I worked as a massage therapist, I maintained the clinical aspect of my treatments even though I have matured emotionally and have developed a far greater respect for the psychological and emotional impact of massage. I have refined my relaxing touch and have become a more complete therapist.
