Going…read moreto the dentist can be stressful and overwhelming but Dr. Grider was very upbeat and honest with me about the health of my mouth and gave me some great advice when talking about the next steps in my dental health plan. She made me feel like we were just two people talking about teeth. Very happy with my care and happy to know that my family will be in such caring hands! Kristin M.

I called and receptionist and she was very rude and said she was contacted awhile back and was told to cancel the appointments which did not happen. Not surprised tho. The business is a money maker with little to no customer appreciation and as the customer I've always felt like an inconvenience. 0 stars. By the looks of the reviews I'm not the only one that has had issues here. Charles thank you for the quick response but that is just a professional way of telling me to pound salt the same way your receptionist did when I called your office with concerns and to try and resolve the issue. Thanks for the abandonment of care for me and my family. Thank you, Come to find out this is just an automated response. Thanks for the sincerity Charles.

Thanks to you good Yelpers, I was able to find Dr. Miller's office late last year. Many dental…read moreprocedures later, I'm caught up on my dental work and no longer anxious about going to the dentist's. Dr. Miller and his staff are so friendly and fun. I knew coming in that I had a LOT of work to be done, and was so relieved that Dr. Miller wasn't tsk-tsking me about not going in sooner. He just told me about the extent of the damage, and discussed the work that needed to be done without any shaming or judgment. Another great thing about his office is that he's very willing to work with your schedule (he was about to schedule me for an appointment during his lunch time!). One thing that needs some updating is his billing system though because it's very confusing to understand. I'll make a payment at the office, but then I'd get a bill to my house. When I brought the bill into the office to pay, the receptionist said that I should wait "until the end" to settle the account. What does that even mean? If I didn't need to pay, why was I billed? Oh, well. It's a small matter given how awesome everything else is.

First off, Dr. Miller is a stellar Dentist. That said, as a long time patient I contacted his…read moreoffice with an emergency and was told they were booked until the end of that day, some 6.5 hours later. I offered to come sit in the waiting room hoping they could find 5 minutes between appointments to take a look. But sadly the staff would not help me short of making an appointment for the end of that day. I went right to Aspen Dental in Benton Harbor, they did not know me but had me in a chair within 20 minutes of walking in the door. Aspen took immediate action and probably saved my life. I still ended up being hospitalized for 4 days and according to the doctors, my dental emergency that would have killed me was likely a result of recent work I had done at Dr. Millers office.

Not only do they do great work, but they are honest and gave me choices for my treatment in regards to financial options while also making sure I have the best care. Dr. Andrew Bargren and his wife Dr. Luz Bargren are the dentists at the Lakeshore Family Dental…read morepractice. To distinguish between the two, they refer to themselves as "Dr. Bargren" (the husband); and "Dr. Luz" (the wife). Our children have been seen by both of them. We left our prior (local) dental practice due to it not being very kid-friendly, and they would not allow parents to go into the back room with our children during procedures. We had to wait in the front waiting area. I was not comfortable with that arrangement. So I was relieved and pleased to find a practice that encourages (even requires) parental presence during our kids' visits. Dr. Bargren has a kind, calm demeanor and a soothing voice. He is really great with our kids (ages 5-11). He explains clearly but succinctly - to us (the parents) AND to the children - what he is going to do, and asks if the kids have any questions. He explains things like a patient teacher. During the procedure, he is super attentive to their comfort and is quickly responsive to subtle cues that convey discomfort or pain, like the slightest wince. I've been particularly impressed with how he looks our children in the eye and removes his mouth covering (surgical mask) when explaining things so that they can see his mouth, and he looks more 'human' (maybe less scary) to the kids. : ) My own experience has led me to see dentistry as an art. There is a lot of detail, intricacy and skill that goes into, for example, the forming of a filling to maintain the shape and appearance of a healthy, perfect tooth - and the original tooth - as closely as possible. Dr. Luz is extremely attentive to such detail. She seems to be a bit of a perfectionist in her craft, which impresses me. I've seen her ask the assistant (on several occasions) to redo the plaster mold of our kids' teeth due to a tiny bubble. She wants the work done to the highest standard. She makes the dentist office a good experience for our kids with her positive feedback to them, frequently commending them for being great patients. While these two dentists are individuals with unique strengths, both are top-notch professionals who maintain a great work ethic and high standards of quality in their craft. And from a parents' perspective, it's important to us that they are kind, patient-focused, ethical, and emanate a positive energy that helps our kids actually enjoy going to the dentist. The Bargrens possess all of these qualities. The office staff is also wonderful. The receptionists are all super helpful, accommodating, and friendly. They took time to explain some details about our insurance (and print some paperwork) that was above and beyond our expectation of their duties. They also try hard to accommodate us for emergency procedures. Once when our son had a toothache they were able to schedule him to come in within just a few hours! (I don't know if that's standard practice, but we were pretty amazed.) The office itself is clean, with a nice "homey" waiting area with plenty of comfy seating and good reading material. They have a couple of fun spaces for kids with puzzles, toys, and a train table. They have free toothbrushes and toothpaste out for patients to choose from. And we are almost always greeted as we enter.
