The meat was also nice and juicy, not overcooked, and flavorful. I dont really remember much of the teriyaki sauce on it, but the meat was well seasoned by itself. Came with a sesame seed bun, which I wasn't too crazy about. I would recommend this place on the way back from exploring the island. We dined in at MCS grill to Celebrate my daughters birthday and got the absolute worst service. We were pointed to our table so we sat down and got settled in. We noticed a worker waiting on the tables around us but we never were acknowledged or waited on. This particular server conversed with the table next to us in a personal conversation even talking on their cellphone for over 5 minutes and still never acknowledged we were there. Keep in mind she is the one that sat us so she clearly knew we were there. The busser finally came by after sitting there for well over 20 minutes and asked us if we would like something to drink. That was the only service we ever received for the night. We kept waiting patiently ready to order and yet this same server walked past us and went to numerous tables that got seated after us and took all of their orders without ever coming by our table to even take our order. After sitting there waiting for over 30 minutes to order anything the surrounding tables that came after us all got their food and that's when I had enough. I went up to the register and told the owner how long we had been sitting there with absolute NO SERVICE and wanted to do take out. In all honestly had it not been my daughter's birthday and her being so excited to eat there I wouldn't have given them ANY OF MY SERVICE. I proceeded to place my order to go and paid for everything in its entirety. Being a worker in the F&B industry as well as working in customer service I really expected the owner to make things right. We chose their restaurant to celebrate a special occasion at and when expressing concerns I got an "I'm sorry the server is dramas". Clearly, that is not my problem if she is dramas she needs to do her job. I know very well being in the service industry there are ways to take care of your customers and make things right when your own employees are at fault, but clearly there was no care. It is such a shame that this is the type of service we receive when we decide to dine out. However, I did find out the name of our "server" who is dramas and we never received service from is named Hannah. So I highly suggest anyone dining in please ensure your server is not Hannah so you actually get service. read more

It was a stretch to find an open establishment after 3pm (but before 5pm) in Hanapepe. This was the best of our options but it was not great. I got the the combo with chili peppa chicken. It came with noodles, rice, and more noodles. There were a lot of carbs on my plate, and they just weren't impressive. The chicken was well-fried but lacked flavor. The macaroni salad had a lot of Mayo and again lacked flavor. My husband got the shrimp scampi after reading some positive Yelp reviews. He was pretty disappointed as well, but his meal cost twice as much. If you're in a pinch and have to stop, so be it. But if you can wait to find more options, do that. EDIT: The owner's reply indicates that many locals return to this spot, and I am happy to hear it. I love supporting local businesses; I was just not that impressed with the food. I am generally pretty easy to please when it comes to food, so maybe this was just an off day for the kitchen and the food is generally more flavorful. But my review above was true to my experience. Very good food and service! ordered breaded calamari sticks, mcs fried chicken combo and hamburger steak...all very tasty and good portions! MCS Grill easy to locate on main road with available parking. Besides the food and ambiance, we got to talkstory with an Auntie Nani who was kind enough to surprise us with a gift bag of macnut chocochip cookies! I'm pleasantly surprised with this place. It's hard to find seafood pasta on Kauai but this place has an amazing White Clam Linguine! Steam White Clams was great as well. One tiny downside no wine or beer. Five stars guys! I'll be back next time I'll visit Kauai ;) read more

Service was great, however the food was just below average, steak we order was tough, dry, hard to eat, the scampi was oily, the fried chicken my brother had was pretty good, garlic fries oily and stale. my sister had the Thai salad and it wasn't very good. OMG! This place is awesome! First off, the servers that we had were terrific. They were very pleasant and helpful to us with our orders. Servers are always important to the first impression of any restaurant. As for the food, we're visiting here from Oahu, we ate the best oxtail soup we have ever had anywhere! So tasty and definitely worth coming back for! Also had a side salad that came with the most delicious Lilikoi vinaigrette! MCS needs to bottle that dressing and sell it! And last but definitely not least - their Lilikoi Chiffon Pie was outstanding. Tried three others here on Kauai and MCS' Lilikoi Chiffon Pie is now our #1 favorite! I had the veggie sausage pasta and my husband had the MCS combo with the spicy chicken and saimin, he said the chicken had a nice sweet heat and the bacon in the saimin was smoky and gave it a robust flavor. Super Friendly Staff! Good Food! Great 5 star plantation I was tea was delicious and at $5 it does come with refills so I had many many refills u told my bladder was content! I would give the food a solid 4.5 stars as it is really good but my mind did not explode. I would come back and eat here regularly. I ate the steak and chicken combo and all was really good. The nachos were a great appetizer and they make the tortilla chips in house and they are yummy. Peach cobbler with ice cream finished my food coma and sent me back to the surfer shack we were staying in fully prepared to pass out for the night. Staff was so polite and had such awesome genuine smiles that their sincerity in being positive rubbed off on me while I was eating. Happy staff means a lot to the dining experience for me. This was a great recommendation from a local friend. MCS is open for lunch and dinner. Either is well worth the drive from anywhere! I recommend almost anything on the menu!....a friend had the mahi fish and chips, I've had the Teri chicken plate with fried saimin noodles and either Mac or green salad, I also had a mahi salad for dinner. There's the peppa chicken plate ( that's not really spicy ), there's a rib plate, and chicken and steak plates. Lots to choose from--Friday nights is prime rib, too. They make the lilikoi chiffon for dessert or you can have a root beer or coke float! The chiffon is very light. I can't say enough about MCS, you have to come try! read more

Plate lunch favorites that are elevated with a culinary touch, healthy hand crafted salads and adventurous daily specials all in a fresh, spacious welcoming dining room. I always eat the chili pepper chicken combo w/ fried saimin and salad. It's consistently good and a big meal for around $10. I ordered the prime rib special on Friday and it was served medium rare and super juicy and lots of good fat! It's pricey ($27) but it's a prime rib on the westside (hard to find!) Lastly, the service is really, really good! Girls are courteous and attentive. I rank these fries to my all time faves at Ayola in San Francisco Perfectly crispy on the outside & soft on the inside & salted just right - so good!! Thumbs down on the steak, but the garlic shrimp on top of the steak was divine!!! Also, their desserts were bomb too! We finished captain andy's sail trip and the captain recommended us to stop by this place. We ordered the lunch combination which had chili pepper chicken, this is fried to perfection with a sweet tangy sauce drizzled on it. How this place has 4 stars and good reviews is beyond me! The pictures are even false. They don't have a bar and they don't service alcohol! Not sure how they can call their calamari app calamari. It was mush fried in strips. The mahi was frozen from a bag. We were sooo disappointed. We were looking for a place to hold a luncheon, after services at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery. MCS Grill came highly recommended from a friend who dines here regularly. I emailed an inquiry and Chimes responded right away. From start to finish, she made it easy to plan a menu to fit our budget. They set up a fabulous buffet the entire family enjoyed, and set aside an area where everyone could relax and catch up. I would definitely recommend MCS Grill to anyone needing a small group venue.
