Funeral Director told us when a loved one passed SS would prorated the month. 4 witnesses. SS said that was untrue, there is no prorated amount. Told they would send death cert. They were ready and SS said they received nothing. Said if they had received it, then it is immediate; otherwise, we would have not received the Feb payment. I asked for the manager. They sent me to the person whom told us all this. Why? All I got was excuses and denial. 4 witnesses. The response and care was wild when I called. I was very nice and wanted to understand why. My husband and I was at McNutt Funeral home on February 27,2025 to find out about cremation and burial of the aches. The lady that took us out to look at the location they bury the aches upset the both of us. When we got back on the golf cart to head back to the office, she ran over all the graves and headstone of the decease. To us that is VERY DISGUSTING AND DISREPECTFUL to the decease and their families who trusted in them. Both of us got sick to our stomach. I will never use them in the future. read more

I would give McNutt MINUS 5 stars if possible. My Mother prepaid for her cremation, so they couldn't up-sell us. They were extremely rude when we called after they picked up her body and had no appointments for 5 days. Then, they were supposed to call us before they cremated our Mother, but they called after and told us we needed to "pick her up". Shame on you McNutt Funeral Home. You are a disgrace. read more

We picked up my father-in-law's ashes this week. The facility was beautiful, very rustic, very clean, and a lady (front desk receptionist) was extremely professional and nice and she greeted us as we walked in. We were told to stay in waight in a meeting room, so we sat and waited. A few minutes later a second young lady came in with a tote bag in a cardboard box in it, which contained the urn and the ashes of my father in law. She introduced herself to my husband, but did not introduce herself to me. She completely did not acknowledge my presence. My husband had to introduce me to her. We were handed a stack of papers to sign. During this emotional time, I would think that we would be greeted with a warm welcome, or some sort of condolence from the second lady. Not just handed a bag with a box containing his urn in it; it was very matter-of-fact, a very sterile and routine transaction. We get that this is a job for her, and she does it several times a day. But for us, we have lost a loved one, and to just have the ashes in an urn, in a cardboard box with tape around it, and in a tote bag with their logo on it, seems kind of cold to us. She never even sat down, we signed the paperwork standing up. When we left, what kind of shook our heads and looked at each other and ask ourselves, "Was that it?" This is the first time we've had to deal with the loss of a loved one in Houston area. Hopefully we won't have to do this again for a long time, but when the inevitable happens again, there are plenty of other funeral homes from which to choose. Hopefully it will be a little more sensitive and caring and McNutt Funeral homes. Update: I changed the rating from 1-star to 3-star because the owner reached out to me. I sincerely believe that they care about their customers, but you can't depend on every employee being on their best behavior or doing the best that they can. Still, I would present the urn in a more personable manner, not just in a cardboard box with tape around it. I understand the cardboard box and the phone is to protect the earth, but send us off with those items, presented to us anymore humane way. read more

The confidence to entrust our loved one (my mom) to your care was a horrible and exhausting experience from start to finish. My burden of grief was increased not decreased by using your company. Here are some facts: A scheduled meeting was set in advance- when I arrived we were sat at the couch in the main area vs secure and closed room for a private and delicate meeting We were asked for private and personal information in the lobby of the office, there was a private room available. The staff member did not know the answers to our questions and his level of knowledge was terribly lacking. We left, and said we would set up another meeting - with another staff member with more knowledgeable. A 2nd Meeting was scheduled with director and he assured us we would receive a call prior to cremation and once the urn was delivered. I called and left messages several times and did not receive a call back -when asked why I was told they never received my messages. This is not supportive and no communication efforts used on their part. While at the meeting I indicated I wanted CDs of my mom and asked to see some of their examples, The director could not bring up the information on the computer and had to call in the media staff member. It was in this meeting, that I brought the obituary, told them how many death certificates I wanted, order a urn and advised them of the cds. They let me leave without going over their sample of what they offered in paper for the obituary flyer. And they did not go over the sign in book or tell me their was choices. They are suppose to have all this ready for me to make it easy to make decisions. To have a check off list. Very unprofessional, very unorganized. In addition to this I went over with the director how we were treated with the first meeting and he said- the staff member had been advised of this before. What- you know this and you still let them conduct uneducated- unprofessional meetings. No communication: I did not receive a call to advise me when cremation would take place. When I called them to inquire a rude staff member replied to me- oh it is happening now. I said why didn't you call me, she said well you know now that you have called. Not supportive team. When I came to pick up my mom, they misplaced her name tag on her urn that I had purchased. Another rude, staff member got huffy with me and I reported her actions to the director. Again, the director was understanding, but said yes we have brought this to her attention before. What- ANOTHER EMPLOYEE that has treated customers rude and they too are still employed. The brochure from McNutt says they are compassionate, understanding and helpful. They understand your grief and your grief process. It sounds good but that has not been my experience. I am giving them 1 star only because they have a media director that was compassionate, and very helpful in processing my cds, music and obituary fliers. I read the reviews before I went to this company and thought well, there are some bad reviews, but surely they have learned from their mistakes. NO, they have not! This type of company should have more compassion, understanding and be more professional under the circumstances customers are coming to them during this difficult time. read more

We are dealing with the unexpected, tragic passing of a loved one. Having never dealt with a death in the immediate family, we had no idea where to go. A couple of old friends suggested that we go to McNutt's. I honestly wasn't even aware they had a full service funeral home. We went in and immediately felt at ease. Damon, the Funeral Director was kind and easy to talk to. He explained everything, and dealt with us in a very gentle manner. We were all still in shock when we arrived, and really had no idea about the different services, flowers, etc. We had the viewing last night in their cozy chapel, and it was very comforting. This evening, we will have the service at a nearby church. We would have preferred to have it at their chapel, but unfortunately, we would exceed the maximum capacity. From what I understand, they are building a new, larger chapel. As a side note, Damon does all the preparations, flowers, etc. Everyone at the viewing commented on the gorgeous casket spray he put together. It was truly a magnificent representation of our loved one, the colors were perfect. The McNutt Family, and their employees are wonderful, down to earth, easy to talk to people. Recently my mother passed away with only my dad being there to handle the arrangements locally. I am out of state and was only able to assist him from a distance. McNutt did everything they said they would do including arranging for my mom's ashes to be disbursed. They were extremely helpful and supportive. From picking up the body at the hospice facility to assisting with the death certificate they were great. They made the whole process as easy as possible for my dad considering the circumstances. read more

I am giving this 2 stars instead of one star because they did do well in the beginning. We were well taken care of could not complain of anything. It was afterwards when we tried to get the death certificate. It took close to three months to get it and it was not the funeral home that got it it was the family. It took the family 8 days to have the death certificate sent to them by the state. What I and complaining about is that they did not inform us of anything they did not call us to keep us up-to-date all calls were made by us to them to see what was going on. We were told so many"truths/reasons" that I could not keep up with them. I want to say again that the terrorists that we had at the beginning was absolutely wonderful it was just afterwards. They also did return the money for the death certificates . I feel that if it's a plain simple affair they should be okay but if there's any complications or anything out of the ordinary I don't believe I could recommend them read more

I have basically two separate reviews for McNutt Funeral Home. The original interaction with them was all extremely positive - they handled the arrangements for the funeral etc quickly and smoothly and professionally. Absolutely no complaints. However, after the design for the headstone had been submitted and approved, we were told that it would be 4-8 weeks for delivery, and then installation could be scheduled. It has now been 14 weeks, and after several emails back and forth, I am being told that the monument is not going to be delivered for another 2 weeks. McNutt did NOT contact me to alert me and my family to this delay - all communication on the issue has been initiated by me. Also, the VA marker which was delivered to the funeral home back in April has NOT been installed. read more

5 Stars from me. The facility is VERY nice, clean, and the staff is very professional. I want to start that my mother passed away May 2019. When the staff arrived to transport my mother, they were VERY gentle as they pick her up from the bed to the body bag. Afterwards, they proceeded to wheel her out at a moderate pace and loaded her gently into the van. I called that afternoon for assistance and the young lady I spoken with was patient (expressed her condolences) & answered each question & expressed to me to take my time. Each time I called, whoever answered the phone was extremely helpful. What really melted my heart was an employee contacted me to let me know that the death certificate application had been signed and she said: "Okay, we will proceed with taking care of Ms. Juanita." That meant so much to me. Two days ago, they contacted me once my mother's ashes & death certificate was ready. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish. The receptionist was extremely & led me into another room. A nice lady came with a pretty bag & placed my mother's ashes gently on the table. She was understanding & listened to me talk & shed tears. Then as I was leaving, a gentleman offered to open the door for me and each one expressed their condolences. I want to say THANK YOU to the staff for a wonderful job and treating us like family. my mother died unexpectedly and we had tried to get it done in a different funeral home and low and behold the extra fees started the delays etc.. it took and extra 500 dollars to the other funeral home who was holding our mother's body hostage, but eventually Mc Nutt came through and finally got it sorted out for us. thank you! read more

I do NOT recommend this place to anyone! I lost my brother and during this very difficult time, as we searched for a funeral home being the first close death in the family. We needed a lot of help in picking the perfect location for him to rest. We were pretty much sat in a room and were told the price of a burial. Then they pulled out a contract which we hadn't even had time to think or even discuss, if this was the place. We left to talk about it came back in with a few more questions, they looked at us like we were dumb. And again they pulled out the contract. We left knowing that this wasn't the place we wanted our brother to be laid to rest. We kept searching till we found the right place for him. Well that evening the funeral home we chose which was Sam Houston Memorial funeral home. They went to Conroe regional to pick up my brothers body. I got a phone call saying my brother was no longer at the hospital! I was confused and certain he had to be there. I finally got a call back saying Mcnutt funeral home had picked him up without our permission! There was absolutely no reason for them to have taken it upon themself and decide to pick up my brother! We never signed any paperwork, how could they possibly do this! I immediately contacted Mcnutt funeral, they were very rude and not once did they apologize for doing this! They then said they wouldn't give us his body until the next day during business hours! I was outraged how are you going to do this and then your going to tell me when I can get his body back absolutely not! In the end Sam Houston Memorial funeral home got my brother back. We heard from them that it wasn't easy and they were so rude and ugly when giving him back. I feel like Mcnutt funeral home is all about the money and can careless about what the family is going through during this difficult time. If your looking for a place that really cares and is understanding during this time then I suggest you look else wear! read more
