From the several times I have had my car repaired there they seem to be very honest. Especially the last time I went. I went for one reason, but asked them to also check my brakes since they felt to me that the front pads for sure needed to be replaced, perhaps even the rotors needed resurfacing. Had a wonderful experience last week bringing in my SUV that had a spare tire on, I needed my flat tire patched and put back in. Three of the guys stopped what they were working on and repaired it within 10 minutes. It was amazing and they were fast, friendly and affordable. I give 10 out of 10! Mr McCleod assisted me almost immediately with my 2012 Honda Civic, even though he was busy, then gave me a proper estimate. There were 2 other garages locally that seemed to have rave reviews, so i went to them 1st. I should have gone to Mr McCleod's first because he didn't prejudge me like the other 2 garages that had 4.99/5 ratings. Not sure where to go for your car? My car tire popped right across the street from McLeods. I ran over and they were willing to come across the street If I couldn't get it over. I've only trusted a couple mechanics in my life thus far. Two were local to me back in rural Kansas and McLeods on Manhattan in S Tampa! Tim and his staff do an amazing job and somehow run hundreds of repairs through his little corner lot a week in a well-orchestrated shuffle of vehicles. Going on a long trip and need a quick check of tires or alignment.. go to Tim. Have a squeak, light on or other noises? GO SEE TIM. Now they don't work weekends.. but it's not a wait while we fix it type shop. You can have a vehicle towed to the shop to fix or Sun to Thurs night you can drop off your vehicle on the lot.. lock it, drop an envelope in the night slot with your key, contact info and what the problem seems to be and he'll call with questions or when they diagnose it and give you a fair price to fix it.. His next call will be it's done to come and pick it up. I've had him work on 3 different cars over the years and referred his work to many. (When a mechanic is bold enough to say.. fix this or just this and that and don't worry about this other.. I truly respect and have followed his advice!) I've never had a problem with my cars on his lot, and it's refreshing to find a shop owner WHO SMILES when they talk to you. Tim LOVES his job and it's one of the reasons I'm a long time customer and will refer anyone to him!! They're honest, reliable AND reasonable. You won't be disappointed! read more

In a world where family-run auto businesses are few and far between, South Tampa families are incredibly lucky to have a reliable, honest auto servicer like McLeod's. McLeod's came to my rescue when my 2007 350z doors stopped opening. The broken door handle is a common problem with these kinds of vehicles - and it just so happens that BOTH of my door handles broke. Since entering through the trunk is not my preferred method of vehicle entry (and that would look a bit weird - especially with no trunk hydraulics), I decided I'd better get a least one door opening. I know how to work my way around a vehicle in a general sense, so I figured I'd go ahead and buy the door handle from Amazon and install it myself. I received the door handle and installed it - mostly...when things went awry, I called a whole bunch of shops to see how much they would charge to fix my door handle so that it would function properly. Every shop I called, including dealers and local guys, wouldn't even touch it for less than $250 because I had provided my own part. They wanted to uninstall the part, provide their own door handle, and have me pay the cost for what would be - AT MOST - a 30 minute job. I called McLeod's who quoted me about $70 for install of my own part. A few weeks later, I brought it in and to my disappointment, they were incredibly busy. They asked me to return as early as possible next day. So this morning I brought it in and they asked to have it for a few hours (they were still very busy). I reluctantly left it and began wandering down the street, browsing the local stores. About an hour later, Mr. Tim McLeod called to say that my car was ready! He said they had the driver's side door handle working and that they also topped off my brake fluid, since that was what was causing the parking brake light to show up on my dash. I was prepared to pay at least $70, as we had previously discussed on the phone, but upon returning to pick up my vehicle, Mr. McLeod said that it was a simple fix and that no charge was necessary. I left beyond elated and so grateful for their generous, sincere business. Any other shop would have probably charged me upwards of $100.00, but these guys, knowing full and well their power, opted to operate at the discretion of their customers' benefit - and that is worthy of praise. McLeod's should definitely be your go-to auto repair shop....the wait is definitely worth your while. read more

She hit a curb or pothole hard enough to cause the front wheel to "knock with noise" over 40mph. The dealer told me what it was, but the cost was very expensive. So I took it to another place and they said it was something different. McLeod's confirmed what I thought and what the dealer said was, and was able to repair it at a very very reasonable cost. I've been taking my cars here for a few years and haven't hadn't any issues necessarily. But with my last car, I had a strut issue that was causing noise and clunking. They "fixed" it and it had the same noise. Took it back and same thing 3 times. Also, they never call me when the car is ready haha. I have to call them and they are like, "oh yeah, it's done". Now with my new car, my car is making pretty load clunking noises over bumps- obviously some some of joint, suspension problem. They take my car, don't call me, I call them and they say nothing is wrong. Only a cover that was loose. Charged me $20. As soon as I pull out, it's still clunking. I take it to the dealer. Sway bars/arms are blown out, and my brakes are toast and loose. I don't mind paying the money, I want it fixed the first time. They are super nice people, but I do not like going back multiple times for the same issues. They do oil changes though... so there's that. read more

These guys are not the typical mechanic. They treat you right and make sure your aware of everything that is happening with your car. They will let you know up front their flat rate and it is very reasonable. They will not try to screw you over on anything. I only took my car in to have a pully installed and it turn into mroe fo a job than they were expecting. They ordered me the right part and installed it ASAP. I was expecting a large charge for the time and effort it took to install the pully but that was not the case. I was billed less than I was even expecting for the job initially. Went to Mcleods for some service a while back. Radiator was apparently swapped out because of a leak over 400 dollars later i take it to my mechanic an hour north and apparently the radiator was never changed and the radiator fluid was still leaking. BEWARE of the typical mechanic lies here im sure they have some other stuff they do do correctly but i was clearly scammed. I tried to reach out to the owner(original owners son) Hes the typical entitled poor son owner of a business like i said beware and make sure you get receipts and old parts. read more

Brought a vehicle in to be Scoped and Checked specifically for the problem with it and total cost to fix it. The shop called me back and said sorry you are going to have to take it to the dealer we cant figure it out. Come to find out today they have apparently replaced something without our knowledge, and there is no way to prove it now because the actual problem was the motor. This shop does no internal engine work if the problem is more than expected you will be towing it some place else to then delay the process even further. read more
