All to the lovely tune of $800+. We sought a 2nd opinion because we did have some knowledge of furnaces. Had someone with more extensive knowledge look at it. The only thing the furnace needed was an $83 mother board. And now, they send us a $199 bill for the service call. Highly unethical business practices. He wasn't even here a half hour. How many customers have these crooks ripped off prior to this. Never ever use this company and I never will again.

After doing some research online looking for local recommendations, I called Ziegler Heating & Cooling on Monday morning at 7am. I was sent to voicemail when I contacted Ziegler, so I hung up and called Knoechel. (I called Ziegler first because I have an American Standard AC unit, and based on Zieglers website, it appeared that American Standard was a preferred brand of theirs/they may specialize in. Whereas Lennox appears to be the preferred brand at Knoechel. - my thought process was, if I was going to need a replacement, then I'd want an American Standard, hence Ziegler was my first call). Spoke with a woman who answers incoming calls for Knoechel, who took all of my information (contact info and description of the problem) and informed me that I'd receive a call back shortly. 30 minutes later I received a call from one of their techs who then arrived at my house less than 10 minutes later (I am local in Zelienople, where they are headquartered). Within an hour my AC was running normally again without any attempts to upsell/oversell. (Thorough cleaning of AC coils on the outside unit, replacement of dual capacitor, and temperature checks - about an hours worth of work, $177) All that work PLUS the expediency in response time came at a price that was in line with a competitor a family member had used last week located in Pittsburgh (which was too far away to service my house in Zelie). Without question, I'd recommend Knoechel!

So my initial fee covered his visit and the adjustment, unlike other vendors I've used in the past where they look for things that they can charge you more or say they're about to break, just to charge you more money for the service. They provided top notch service and their cost were also very reasonable. They worked with our home owners warranty company to help save us the most money in this transaction and pushed our best interest in fixing/replacing our AC unit. It was their recommendation to replace the unit. (Rightly so the unit is 30 years old 2-3 times its lifespan) however it is the home warrantys policy it is attempted to be fixed first, despite being cautioned against doing so as the inital problem may not have been all that was wrong with the unit. Working with the home warenty company was no small accomplishment since Cranberry heating and cooling invested their own time and effort to do their best to ensure what was in our best interest as the customer. If this had been on our own dime and our call and not the home warrenty companies, we would have gone with the new unit after their investigation of our current 30 year old unit, because I trust their expertise and honest work ethic.
