Long overdue review for McKay. McKay helped me with my second mortgage about 4-5 months ago. I've been thru this process at least 4 times due to refinancing. Our home buying situation was not typical. We did a short sale, but we did it with a conventional mortgage so that meant a lower APR compared to a construction loan or hard money loan. That alone saved us money. McKay was very responsive to emails and phone calls. He was very clear in his explanations. To be honest, I wasn't entirely organized and situated with my finances when I found the property I wanted, but I knew it was the perfect place for my daughter and me. We were referred to McKay Wilson by our realtor James Park to help us with the financing for our home. I needed someone who could do VA loans, and who knew the loan process inside and out because there were some issues in my application that I thought might be a problem. However, McKay was able to answer all of my questions right on the spot, and made me feel comfortable that I would have no problem qualifying. He also recommended that I apply for the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program, something that I had no idea existed, so I'm happy he told me about that. With the MCC I am able to save thousands of dollars each year on tax deductions! The whole loan process was very simple and very fast. From beginning to end it took about 30 days. It would've been shorter, but the seller had left on a trip so we had to wait until he came back to sign some papers. I don't think the seller realized how fast we would close. In the end, I ended up paying absolutely no closing costs by working with McKay. The credits he was able to get from his lender paid not only for all of my closing costs like the appraisal, title insurance, and escrow fees, but he also was able to push my first payment date out 2 months. This was such an incredible help for my family to be able to move into our new home and not make any payments for two months while we get settled.
