I have now had 3 separate items service at McHenry Power Equipment. 1 Chainsaw last year, 1 chainsaw this Summer and just recently my leaf blower. I work in the service industry so I have SUPER high expectations when getting my own items repaired somewhere. McHenry Power Equipment provided me with excellent customer service each time I was in. I believe I saw a different person each time. They quoted my fair rates for the needed repairs and explained the reasons behind the repairs also. They repaired all my units in a timely manner and called me upon completion. While there I also asked for advice on some other units I had. They answered all my questions and gave me good advice. Purchased an item and realized it was the wrong item. Called and got an RGA number to return it. Did so the next day (July 16 2026). 6 weeks have passed since they received the item on July 20 ,2026. I am still waiting. Now its been a long time an still nothing. I am sending emails and calling and always the same response."WE TOLD YOU, THIS WOULD TAKE A WHILE" Now things start changing. I am told that I was the problem ordering the wrong part and that THEY are annoyed at the time it is all taking. At this point, I am pissed and call Chase Bank explaining the issue. They immediately put the $422.00 back in my account. Now I am getting emails from McHenry asking for tracking number. I tell them this is BS. that they have the return authorization number its up to them to find it. This morning I get an email from McHenry saying send us the tracking number and we will pay you." (I bet they were assuming it was lost so they wouldn't have to pay me back.... But I FOUND IT!! Let see what they say now. The moral of this story is do not deal with companies that do not trust anyone. Do not deal with companies that tell you they will take up to 2 months to pay you back. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! I purchased 3 carburetors. 1st one- I ordered wrong one., 2nd one- I ordered correct part number but they sent the wrong one. 3rd one- It was perfect and worked and fit correctly. Now for the returns: 1st one- got reimbursed the $24.+ for the part which was correct. 2nd one was approx. $83. but was NOT given my money back because I didn't give them a tracking number but here is the info on the order which was purchased directly from them, the order plainly says mchenrypowerinc and I did return the part & left it at a local drop off to be shipped back. I went back there and the package was not there so I know it was returned. Not reimbursed because I accidentally closed the wrong RMA & I didn't keep the tracking number for THEM to credit me. They claim they never got it back, well wonder where it is then? Accounting returns must be really bad or else they receive a lot of returns that they cannot find it. Ordered a engine no one had. Their internet was down so the guy answered all my questions through text helping me with everything along the way. Received the engine within a week. They dropped the box within shipment and it had a broken airbox assy. Called them and they instantly mailed out the broken part along with gave me advice for everything about the engine I had questions on. Company sold item not in stock wasting my time and delaying a critical repair due to their incompetence in managing their inventory. They then had to issue a refund and I had to find the item elsewhere. Customer service is also lousy with nothing but excuses and the old 'nobody's perfect' refrain. Total time wasters. Goes by the name "powerequipmentdeals" on eBay. Buyer beware, about 2.7% of their transactions fail in some way (44 out of 1625 this past month) and they refuse to make good on that when it happens, since they do so much business they can afford to ignore mistakes, if you happen to be among the 2.7% you're out of luck, say goodbye to that cash unless you bought through eBay, then there's a money-back guarantee with them at least. I ordered a chainsaw bar and chain from them, the chain arrived in a large padded envelope with a bar-sized tear in the corner. A padded envelope for large metal parts, who does that? I ordered another bar from PartsTree (I wish I'd discovered them first) and it arrived securely in a cardboard box for less shipping than McHenry Power Equipment charged - that's how it's done. McHenry Power Equipment refused to accept responsibility for the dodgy packaging and forced me to escalate the matter with eBay, so I at least got a refund for the bar but only after waiting a week and much aggravation. They kept insisting that the envelope tore on the Canadian side of the border, with no proof (as if this absolves them for using an envelope). They kept insisting that I admitted to this - I admitted to nothing and have the records to prove it. They kept insisting that it was really eBay's fault and that I call an eBay customer service number, I searched everywhere for it but couldn't find it, and instead of just telling me what it is (they claimed to know it) they just belittled me for not being able to find it. Have to revise my review to 5 stars. We purchased a snow blower at the end of November. We chose to put together at home as our vehicle was not big enough for it already assembled. We ran it for the appropriate time and then left it alone. Several days later we discovered a leak from the front of the unit. Contacted McHenry Power and they came out, took the blower, repaired it and returned it all within a few days. There was also no charge as the item was brand new and under warranty. I order my parts from them on EBAY and after I paid for expedited shipping I told them if their were problems getting the part to me on time to cancel the order and notify me. I explained I knew about delays due to the pandemic but needed this part. The shipping label wasn't even created before the last day of shipping range (orderde March 18th label created on the 26th. I had been in touch BEFORE it shipped and they refused to cancel. It arrived today and they wont respond to the request for the shipping charge to be refunded or a return shipping label. I have already have another part on it's way from another dealer. These people don't even deserve a one. In my opinion they are either incompetent and rude or just unaccommodating and rude. They made me PROVE it by sending them pictures of the empty package. I told them I wanted my money back. Weeks, then months went by with no refund. I finally had to contact eBay and then PayPal to get my money back. This place has the worst rating I've ever seen on eBay. Do not buy anything from these shady liars! I ordered a line trimmer holder from them off of Ebay. And let's just say horrible all the way around. I ordered off of a picture and emailed them to see if everything in the picture came with the order. They said yes. LIE! they sent me the item without the part they said came with it. I called them out on it and they said it was their fault, but could ship me what should have come with it for an additional 35.00. I said no because why should I pay for their mistake. Now they say I can return the whole thing for a refund! No, I want my promised part! Now Ebay will not let me return it because it was opened. So screw these guys! I Bought a belt that I saw on Ebay. They happen to be in the next town over so I called and they had to order the belt. Said it would be in the next day and would call me. On Ebay it was 31.88 and free shipping. They sent me a text the next day saying it was in. I sent one of our porters to pick it up and they charged me 38.62. I called them to get it corrected but the say they have additional costs at the brick and mortar store. I saved them the Ebay fee and the free shipping so this is all smoke and mirrors. It is only 6.74 in addl cost but principal dictates that I would never do business with them again. read more

Great turnaround for my Toro snowblower. Had to give them a deposit, but that was fine. In less than a week I had it back. Friendly front desk. Helped me load and unload it. Very disappointed with their customer service when follow up service was needed. I took my pressure washer in for service because the pump was not working consistently and was told I needed a new pump. At this stage they were as nice and helpful as can be since they had a $300 pump to sell, but 2 years into the 5 year warranty, as printed on the pump documents, the unloader on the pump failed. I took the pump back to McHenry Power and was told there was a $40 diagnostic fee and a $25 fee for administration to fill out the form for the warranty. When I presented my purchase documents I was then told the pump only had a 90 day warranty that was expired because it was a replacement pump. WHAT BS!!! This was a new pump paired with a Honda engine and the warranty said nothing about restrictions based upon how the pump was installed. I didn't care for the attitude of the person I was talking to and he had no desire to retain my business or work out a fix, so could see I was dealing with a business unconcerned with customer service or satisfaction, so I left. I then went to my car and called the pump manufacturer and talked to the warranty department who upon seeing my documents, sent me the unloader for the pump at no charge. This was something McHenry Power could have easily done in the name of customer support, but chose not to. I don't need or want their lack of support combined with their unfriendly attitude and will not recommend or use their services again. read more

Terrible place to do business purchased a part for a lawnmower were selling one day and found out I didn't need it the next day and I wanted to return it they had it in stock and they would not take it back without charging me 30% for the one minute it took the man to go in the back and get this roller for the mower. The manager was nasty and rude and told me it cost him more than that 30% for the phone call with me and the time he spent with the sale which is totally ridiculous nothing like not trying to make some goodwill with the community. Would recommend no one do business with these people they're not nice to do with business with and I think you'll find better results going to a different retailer for for your equipment. I would highly recommend the Woodstock power equipment over these people! I bought parts from this company on ebay and asked to cancel the order 1 day prior to shipping. They refused saying they didn't see my cancel request and since they created a shipping label they had to ship it. The company said I could send it back after I received it. I sent the item back and after the original purchase price of $135, they only refunded $95.35 saying they were charging me $12.35 for outbound shipping(was free shipping when I ordered) and a $27.00 restock fee. I contacted them after seeing how much money I lost and they said it was their return policy. I think they mailed the item out just so they could hide behind a ridiculous restock fee and make money. They also stopped responding to any emails to help resolve the issue. I would never buy from this company due to their lack of good customer service and ridiculous return policy. Recap: $135.00 original price, lost $39.65 for returning and paid another $12.65 to ship the item back. During contact with the company, I stated I would gladly pay their shipping costs because I don't expect them to take any loss. So for an item that they should have never mailed, I lost $52.30. I guess I should have kept the items. After contacting Ebay, they stated that I should have received a full refund and they will resolve the issue for me. Thank you Ebay. read more
