I was hesitant to see counseling, as I was dealing with depression I was hard for me to open up. A…read morefriend recommended me to call Stonebridge counseling, I called and had a nice Experience. Beginning with the person that answer my call, she was very professional, and was able to guide me to the right direction. After talking to the therapist, I felt such a great relief and peace within. I didn't feel judged and was able to speak freely. I highly recommend others to to seek counseling with Stonebridge.

I have never left a scathing review of any business online, but this experience was so unethical…read moreand unprofessional that I feel obligated to for the sake of others. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT try to get therapy through this place. I went through being subjected to a series of unprofessional and even unethical issues trying to get in with this place. The first person I spoke with to book an appointment, Dana, was highly unprofessional in the way she handled my intake. Here are the issues I had to deal with when trying to go through this office: 1) I made an appointment with Dana to see Kyla on a Tuesday at 6:30pm. Less than 2 hours before the appointment, I still had not received a link for the TeleHealth visit, and had not received ANY communication from Dana. I had to reach out to Dana via text at 4:40pm, less than 2 hours before the appointment, because they did not answer the phone due to being in a meeting. Dana was texting me while in a meeting and telling me that they no longer wanted me to see Kyla due to them not wanting to have to do "intake all over again" (quoting directly from the text I am looking at) if I were to eventually see Kyla in person rather than through TeleHealth. She stated that she put me down as a "Pending Insurance and Appointment Verification" appointment. That doesn't matter, I never received any notice before my appointment to let me know that the appointment would not work. The entire time I had been expecting an appointment with Kyla that evening at 6:30pm. At 4:56pm, about an hour and a half before my appointment with Kyla at 6:30pm, Dana informed me that she would like to get me in with another provider (Kaela). Again, this is all an hour and a half before my appointment after COMPLETE radio silence and zero indication that my appointment would need to be rescheduled. The appointment with Kaela would have been while I am working, so she stated that she would reach out to Kyla and that Kyla would reach out to me directly. 2) Kyla DID reach out to me directly via text...at 5:19pm...just over an hour before my appointment. She stated (again, quoting from the text): "I was not expecting you today, due to the short notice." This "short notice" was because Dana NEVER informed Kyla until an hour and a half before my appointment that I had created an appointment with Kyla. Kyla then stated that she would have to see me NEXT Tuesday AND that Dana had given me the incorrect weekly time and that the opening was at 5:30pm and not 6:30pm. 3) Then Kyla told me she would send me the paperwork that evening, and never did. I had to text her TWO DAYS later to let her know I never received the paperwork. I didn't get a call until the next day, letting me know that I did not get the forms yet because I had never been set up with a portal. Dana NEVER told me I needed to set up a portal. I don't know how Dana got this job, but she is unprofessional and unethical. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but it just got worse (see below). 4) I called and told Dana that my insurance was Anthem Blue Cross PPO. She got my membership number and looked it up and saw that I had a deductible. I mentioned that mental health visits do NOT apply to the deductible for my plan, and would only pay the $45 co-pay per visit. She looked at it and said that I am right and even said "Wow, you're on it, that's rare"! She never told me that it was out-of-network. Later on, when I spoke to the intake person, Britney, who was going to set me up with a portal, Britney told me that they are NOT in-network with my insurance and that I would not have a co-pay of only $45, and would instead need to pay $115-130 for visits until I meet my out-of-network deductible. I told her what Dana had told me, and she put me on hold and spoke to Dana while I was on hold. 5) Dana LIED and claimed that she never told me that the co-pay would be $45. I can handle a lot of things, because mistakes DO happen. But blatantly lying is unacceptable. I am now looking into potentially filing a complaint with the BBB and/or relevant State authorities.

We scheduled the appointment during an extremely painful and vulnerable time in our marriage. We were not necessarily looking for someone to "fix" everything; we were looking for professional guidance, whether that meant helping us communicate more clearly, process difficult feelings, or even separate in a respectful and less harmful way. Unfortunately, the experience felt unprofessional from the beginning. The scheduling process was confusing and disorganized, with mixed messages about the appointment time and paperwork requirements. Still, I went into the session hoping the actual counseling experience would be helpful. It was not. When we arrived, the therapist, Miranda McWilliams, greeted us with little warmth or effort to make us feel comfortable. The session moved immediately into procedural disclaimers and then into asking each of us what we wanted from therapy. When my wife and I began discussing our perspectives, there was some disagreement and back-and-forth, which I would think is fairly normal for a couple seeking therapy during a serious marital crisis. Instead, about 20 minutes into the appointment, Miranda abruptly told us she could not work with us because we did not agree on parts of our relationship timeline and because she believed we had both already made up our minds. There was no meaningful attempt to slow the conversation down, help us communicate more effectively, offer guidance, provide referrals, or handle the situation with warmth and care. The session simply ended. I understand that a therapist may sometimes determine that they are not the right fit for a couple. My issue is not only that she declined to work with us; it is how abruptly and coldly it was handled. Couples in crisis are often distressed, emotional, and struggling to agree on the facts. That is exactly why they seek professional help. Being dismissed 20 minutes into the first appointment, without support or useful next steps, left both of us feeling worse than when we arrived. In my opinion, this was not just disappointing; it was harmful. At a moment when we needed professionalism, compassion, and steadiness, we experienced the opposite. I would strongly caution other couples, especially those dealing with serious marital distress, to think carefully before seeking services here.

I can honestly say that I have grown leaps and bounds since she's become my therapist. Most significantly, she shows up authentically. We have very good boundaries as client and therapist, but I swear I feel like I'm talking to my friend when I connect with her. She keeps it real with me and has taught me the importance of being kind to myself. As a person of color, I am conscious of whether a therapist is sensitive to my unique struggles of living in a predominantly White community. She is fantastic in that sense and always validates my experiences. As of late, Lise and I have done therapy sessions by phone, which I have found tremendously helpful because she has been available within the hour. A month ago, I was driving, frustrated about something in my relationship. I texted her and she was willing to do a session immediately. I pulled over to the side of the road, had a powerful phone conversation with her, and was able to journey through the remainder of my day with new tools to navigate my stuff. As I said, we have very professional boundaries, but I swear I want to hug this woman all the time. I couldn't imagine seeing someone different. She's amazing!!!

I was referred to her by a top therapist in town when looking for a clinical supervisor because of her reputation. I have worked with the masters in my field because of Lise and her voice is often that sweet voice of wisdom and self kindness (and humor) that comes to me in times of need. I would recommend her all day long and to the people I most care about. Lise is a therapist's therapist. Lucky for everyone else, you don't have to be a therapist to see her! There aren't enough stars on YELP for Lise Welsh.
