I have been with McGunnigle for many years now and everyone is professional, friendly and very responsive. They make insurance easy!

Love this office. Penny is very good and always has the right answer. And if she doesn't, she makes sure she finds it!! She's happy to see each person who comes in. And treats each person like they are the most important client that day. If I have a question or a problem all I need to do is call and it's taken care of. I prefer to go to office when I can. they made a drastic error on my policy and then offered to pay half on a huge fee. I asked and asked them to fix their error which they could not due so they told me I had to pay one third of my entire policy. read more

This is sad to write because Bruce McGunnigle was my insurance agent for nearly 30 years and he was always prompt, responsive and helpful. But Bruce is retired and the folks that are running this place now are inept to say the least. First let me say that while I would always contact McGunnigle, my insurance documents these past several years would say "Harbour Insurance Agency" with a Scituate address. I don't know what the relationship is between these apparently separate companies. My problems stemmed from the sale of my old home and purchase of a new home. I considered filing a claim to make a repair on my old home and simply wanted to know if the repairs would be covered. First I asked McGunnigle to send me a copy of my policy, which I did not think was asking too much. I couldn't locate my policy because we were moving and everything was in disarray. I never received the policy in spite of both verbal and email requests. So I told her the issue, which was a fairly minor one and she said she didn't think it was covered and that was that. I was not going to file a claim. However when my buyer was attempting to acquire his insurance binder, (I unfortunately recommended he go with McGunnigle and he followed my suggestion), he learned that the home insurer they use (apparently the only one-- Union Mutual) would not insure the property because she had told them about the issue I inquired about. When I asked her why she told them she said she's required to. I found that this is not true and in fact she is supposed to be representing me, not them. But that was a minor aggravation compared to what happened on the purchase end of things. Everything was all set for closing with the exception of the insurance binder. The bank, the real estate broker and I were all emailing and leaving phone messages that we need the binder. This went on for over a week. I finally got hold of her on the phone about 5 days before closing and begged her to please submit the binder. She put me at ease, saying everything was under control... she was going to have it by the end of that day... and not to worry as she has even got binders the very morning of the closing and all was well. However my bank was not on board with her cavalier approach. When she didn't produce the binder later that same day as promised, the bank informed me that the closing was not going to happen as scheduled. This was a major inconvenience as it meant rescheduling patients, etc. Had she produced the binder the very next morning that would have at least held my rate. I had managed to lock in an excellent rate, but my rate lock was expiring the day after my originally scheduled closing. Unfortunately McGunnigle did not come through in time to salvage my rate and my loan had to be revised to a higher rate. I don't even want to know how much this cost me. I recommend avoiding this agent at all cost. read more
