McGuiness charged $313.68 for a visit which took less than 15 minutes. I asked about the high fee and was not given a good explanation. I will not be returning to McGuiness. read more

I am a 68 year old male who visited Mcguiness in hopes of clearing up some unwanted wrinkles and such. I was talked into collagen treatments which were very expensive. I went through several Viles, and I can't tell one bit of difference and neither can anyone else. Not any. I am very disappointed and feel I was sold a bill of goods. If my age had anything to do with it, then I should have been told. I feel they should have refunded me or tried a different treatment. The people were nice but just horrible advice. MIRACULOUSLY...Dysport had raised to $4.50 a unit. Huh? That's odd. The new higher/raised price couldn't be because I now had a 25% off gift card? Could it? Very suspicious. Spoke to the manager. "Im sorry" "That's unfortunate" "I'll speak with everyone" "prices are going up" but notice NEVER MAKING THINGS RIGHT. That 25% off wasn't really helpful because they decided to raise prices at the EXACT SAME moment they were enticing customers to join VIP club and get 25% Gift Cards. read more

My husband and I just had the most abhorrent experience here, one that even his front desk nurse told me she was genuinely shocked by. My husband and I booked three months in advance for 9:15 a.m. today. We waited 90 minutes. We checked in repeatedly, they explained he had a surgery but would be back with us immediately. The waiting room filled and emptied twice while we waited. My husband got called back and could hear Dr. McGuiness go into multiple rooms before his. I then finally got called back. The girl, Julianne or something to that effect, did not acknowledge my wait in any way. I finally said, are you aware I've been waiting 90 minutes or...? And she immediately got very defensive, threw my gown down and left. 10 minutes later, Dr. McGuiness comes in and apologizes for the wait while his assistant sulks in the corner. I say it's OK, I know things happen, but she should have just acknowledged it. That's pretty basic with service resolution. He then tells me, well, I know you were late and didn't fill out the paperwork in advance. At this point, I'm genuinely shocked. We were early and our paperwork was completed early online. I told him this, and he said he'd, "check into it," the obvious implication being that I was lying. I said, your nurses said we waited so long because you had a surgery going long...? And he backtracked and said oh yeah I did, I did. And I said, so we weren't late and we didn't miss the paperwork, and even if we had been - that's not what caused the 90-minute wait. He got flustered and at that point, I decided I did not want this person examining my body for moles. He literally told me, "best wishes." (David Rose would die!) TLDR: Waited 90 minutes to be seen because of a problematic surgeon, when finally for back was blamed for the delay and mistakenly told we were late and didn't do our paperwork. Absolutely love Dr. Kesani. I came in to have something super minor looked at. I was almost embarrassed to come in because it was so minor but she was so amazing and she didn't judge me or make me feel silly. The whole experience was super smooth, I waited in the lobby maybe 5 minutes before being called back, waited maybe an additional 5 minutes for Dr. Kesani and then was out. My entire appointment from A to Z was about 20 minutes. And to top it all off Dr. Kesani is the absolute nicest! read more

I've had a great experience everytime I've been there. This most recent visit, they advised me the Dr. was about an hour behind, I ended up only having to wait 30minutes. I've tried numerous times to like this office and I just give up!! They are not friendly and the doctors / PA's are very robotic doing and telling people the exact same things. Daughter and I had back to back appointments and we were told the exact same speel as if reading from a script! So disappointing! Front office is not nice or welcoming either! I've complained to McGuiness himself - and went back a year later for one last chance and sadly disappointed AGAIN! I was treated for 2 granulomas on my hands like they were warts!!! Freeze blasted when all that was needed was cortisone shot. If she has reviewed my chart she'd see that I had this issue w granulomas in the past! This was a terrible experience from the beginning. the pa attempted to freeze scaling from my hands and missed the spots with her gun. this caused huge blisters next to the spots she intended to hit. asked them to fix with no charge which would take less than a minute and they said no. I was told to use a cream that was prescribed which I have used before and didn't work. meanwhile I was charged over $400 for their wonderful service. read more

My wife has been to McGuiness each year for the past several years and has had mixed results. She asked them to check a spot on her leg and they said it was ok only to find out two months later when she pushed them to re-check it that is was a Squamous Cell Carcinoma that had to be removed. She went back again this year and asked that they check a spot on her face and they said it was ok. She went back again and asked them to recheck two months later and now it is Carcinoma. The doctor blamed my wife for wearing makeup, so she couldn't see it. Taking our business elsewhere. Once, ok it was missed. Twice, not going to wait for a third mis-diagnoses. Made an appointment for a skin wellness visit, referall from my primary physician. Per insurance, preventative skin wellness visits paid at 100%. At check out, bill presented $172 for this skin check. I paid and contacted insurance, then followed-up with McGuiness billing requesting the procedure codes for the preventative visit. Per billing, they cannot code or process as preventative because they are a specialist. At time appointment was made, repeating it was a skin wellness check to appointment desk and at check in for the visit - no one told me there would be a cost. Will not return. read more

My appointment was at 10:00 am. I finally saw a P.A. at 10:40. I spent quite a bit of time online filling out forms and then answered a lot of the same questions again in person with a nurse that saw me before the P.A. I was prescribed a cream for my leg and they told me they wanted me to use Bristol Pharmacy which is 25 minutes away from my house and I waited until the next day to pick it up because I know that sometimes it takes time for the prescription to be filled, but this morning I got to the pharmacy and it hadn't been called in. The pharmacy was super nice and looked in three different locations to make sure it had not been overlooked, but nope. I'm sad and angry because these days medical costs are so high and the quality of care and attention to detail is so poor. I had a follow up appointment with the doctor but I called today and cancelled. I will search for a dermatologist that cares or maybe try some alternative remedies. This is why essential oils and natural solutions are booming - everyone is tired of paying through the nose for things that don't even work or have harmful side effects. Then you too that off with poor care and high medical costs and so yeah, essential oils sound pretty dang good. read more

I have been here twice attempting to have the same cyst removed. Both times I received a 5 min consult with PA and was told in order to have it removed, I would need to schedule a different appointment. The first time I understood, but the second time was supposed to be the removal appt. With the commute and paperwork to fill out, each appt took two hours. That's 4 hours of my life and $160 in co-pays I'll never get back. read more

I had red spots only nose and saw the P.A. at the McGuiness Dermatology. She said they were pre-cancerous and needed to be burned off. When I got home I saw she burned the spot on my nose that did not have a red spot!! I called and they told me to come back - but that I was not allowed to ask and questions during the appointment. I could not believe this and when I went back in I told the attendant and said you would not believe what I was told. She said yes as it was in the notes. The P.A. burned off another spot and suggested an expensive laser to get rid of all pre-cancerous spots. I was very disturbed by the "no questions" comment so I went to a different Dermatologist and the Doctor put me under a certain light and after the examine told me I had NO pre-cancerous spots and what I had was Rosacea. The expensive laser was going to cost me $500 after insurance. This place is just after the money and my experience was very disturbing as I went around with a burnt nose for - NOTHING read more

Office Staff is disorganized and low levels of therapeutic competence amongst clinical staff. McGuiness business model appears to be open a lot of offices and staff with PA's. Very few MD's available and they are not in Prosper. Coordinating care is non-existent. If you need medical treatment, I would seek elsewhere. I never do reviews but I felt it was only right to warn everyone about this clinic. I cane here as a new patient. I filled out my paperwork online as recommended and still showed up for my 4:20pm appointment at 4pm. I sat there for almost an hour after leaving work early. They kept saying the doctor had not forgot about me but yet I was still sitting there. Finally after two people walked in at 5 and were called in before me id had enough and walked out. As I'm walking out the office a young lady comes and asks if i wanted to see the PA. What a joke. Why even make appointments with this level of care. HORRIBLE experience. I booked an appointment with Dr. Brown (as a first time patient) for June 23rd. The receptionist called me first thing that morning and said they needed to reschedule me, since Dr. Brown was out of the office. So she scheduled me for the following Tuesday. An hour or so later, I got another call from a different person at the front desk saying they needed to reschedule my appointment. I explained I had just received a call from someone else, and they had already rescheduled me for the following Tuesday. She looked and said she didn't see me on the schedule so refreshed her screen - still didn't see me on the schedule. So she said Dr. Brown is scheduled out for the next few months, but they could get me on Dr. Newton's schedule. I asked if this Dr. was a male or female and she told me male. I let her know I prefer a female Dr. and she said they were booked up for the foreseeable future, but asked if I would be open to seeing a PA? Or going to another location? I explained that I live 5 minutes from the Flower Mound office, and she then said, I can get you in to our Prosper location? I asked her if she was aware Prosper is an hour away? I was frustrated by this point and asked if I could call back, as I was on my way out the door. I called back about an hour later, and explained to the person who answered all that happened on the previous calls, and she said Dr. Brown is not accepting new patients and that is why I can't get in to see her. This office seems to be very unorganized, giving me the run around and never offered an apology or showed any remorse about the situation. I would not waste your time on this practice. read more

Do not go here for cosmetic treatments!! I paid for a package of 3 Micro-needling with PRP on a special they ran. I paid for this in full as well as a package of 4 derma plane treatments. However when I went in to use my third derma plane they told me I didn't have any left. After telling them this was not possible - they said " we applied this towards your micro needling package and proceeded to tell me those were gone as well- I had only used two of the three!! So someone that worked there gave my pre paid treatments to someone else. This is fraud. I will never go back. Fortunately my husband is an attorney and we will fight this! read more

This review is for the microneedling I had recently. This is my second session with this particular esthetician and she took photos to compare with the previous sessions photos. Unfortunately my skin looked worse as I had started prescription retin A and have been purging. She scolded me and said that she is "not happy" with me for "beating up" my skin and that my skin looked ugly. As a dark skinned individual I have dealt with hyperpigmentation all my life, and I am already self conscious but she seemed angry and her choice of words was just very upsetting. I hadn't been since 2014, at which time i was very pleased with my service so when the need arose i looked to them again. My appointment was at 3:15 and i had completed the necessary forms ahead of time by printing them out online. I was called back at 3:15 (arrived at 3:06). Had a visit with Dr. Amanda Lark regarding a growth on my forehead, discolored spot on top on my ear and dry, itchy patches on eyelids. Determined the forehead growth was benign and my choice as to whether or not to remove by freezing (like a wart). Choose not to. Did do a numbing and small scraping of top of ear (painless) for biopsy and prescribed ointment for eyelid areas. All in all, not unhappy with service. Left the office around 3:40 PM. Strangely, no notification from pharmacy that my prescription was ready by 11:30 AM today. Called pharm, nothing in the que. Called the doctor's office and spoke with a nurse. "Oh, an attempt was made to send that but there was an error." Well, duh! What was the error? "Who knows?" Can we do something about resending it or were you just going to let it sit there?!?! "Let me try that again. "Yes, looks like it went through this time." Which to me, translates to IT NEVER GOT SENT!!! That's my only complaint. How long would i have waited if i hadn't called????? read more

First of all you can NEVER get anyone on the phone to make appointments. You have to leave a message and they will call you back. When I've had to leave a measage which is most of the time, they hardly ever call you back. In my case I have had to call over and over again until someone finally picks up. I started going to the Flower Mound Clinic approx. one year ago. My first visit I was not impressed due to lack of interest in my concerns. On my most resent visit approx. 10 min into the appointment the physicians assent stopped me in mid sentence to tell me I was giving to much info and taking up to much of her time because they were really busy. I was told I would have to make another appointment and to let them know at the front desk I needed a longer appointment because I had more questions then normal. I kid you not!! I was so shocked I couldn't say a word. Needless to say I will not be back and I would never recommend this clinic to anyone. read more

I was referred by a friend...Extremely Recommend! Great doctor! He found a malignant melanoma on me - on a routine visit. It was a spot I would have never known. It didn't even look like a mole, just a tan spot that blended in with some sun spots on my upper chest / mid clavicle. Melanoma is very aggressive and moves quickly! It was stage1, but he caught it in time and had not gone to my blood stream yet. He did not wait around and moved quickly to have it removed. He saved my life! Office had a more serious atmosphere. Staff was nice. Doctor was very kind, professional, likable and informative. Get yourself checked as soon as possible, you never know! Everyone age 10 and up should go once a year! I had never heard this... Ask for a routine check up / or complete body scan. I just took my 16 year old son. Highly recommend Dr. McGuiness. read more

Today was my second visit to McGuiness Dermatology and I have been extremely pleased both times! I saw Dr. McGuiness the first time and Dr. Grace Brown today. They do a thorough, professional head to toe screening and both doctors were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Today's visit included two unscheduled procedures - a mole removal and a keratosis (benign skin growth) scraping and Dr. Brown and her assistant, Karen W., took care of both situations quickly - and it was pain free! If you need a dermatologist in Flower Mound this would be a wonderful choice! Update: Just had my annual visit with Dr.Brown and it was a great experience again. Not impressed with this Dermatologist. Went to have a skin tag removed. Simple procedure just to apply nitrogen to the affected area, 10 minutes. Paid my office visit in addition to the nitrogen fee (which in my opinion is a rip off). The first treatment did not work, went for a second retreatment and this office wanted to charge me again for the office visit, which I was willing to pay , plus the nitrogen fee. I cancelled the appointment. Many medical practices is about how much we can get from patients. I understand the overhead and cost, however this is ridiculous. I had a terrible experience here today. I was told my pre-cancerous chest area required light therapy treatment and would be 320.00 and take 20 min. But if I chose the cream to apply at home, it's 35.00 but is much more invasive and damaging to the area. I opted to pay the 320.00 reluctantly. I went in thinking I'd be out in under an hour but found out they had to put a dab of cream and I kid you not, press N seal on top of it and I had to sit an hour. They asked me to go back out into the waiting room for that hour! I asked if there was anywhere else to wait in the back but 10min into my wait, repairmen came in to change light bulbs in the ceiling! I'm still taking this all in stride until they start the light therapy and when one side was finished, another tech came in and was surprised at the direction the previous tech placed the light. Not a lot of confidence now.... She did it just opposite on the other side and ended up over lapping and burning me deeply in an area. Holy cow! Now I go to check out knowing my insurance won't cover this procedure and I'm going to pay 320.00 but now they are charging 630!!! The cream and press n seal was an additional 310.00! I certainly would have chosen the 35.00 at home cream if I had been given the full information! Angry, I asked for my records and to speak to a manager. I wanted to go somewhere else for follow up. Apparently they don't have a manager on staff I was told and someone else had to print my records. When I told her I would wait for her to print, she finally did so but could not print todays until it was added to my record and get this, a MANAGER would have to email it to me! I was lied to 3 times during this procedure and my confidence in this office plummeted! Do NOT use this office! Unprofessional and underhanded!!! read more

I've been seeing Dr McGuiness for several years and was glad that after I moved to Fort Worth after a few years in Charlotte I noticed he opened an office in Flower Mound. Saves me from driving to Plano. I have had issues with skin cancer for a long time and I agree with other reviews that say Dr McGuiness has literally saved my life. Found an unremarkable spot that turned out to be dermoplastic melanoma. It was caught before it made it to my lymph nodes and although I had a rough 6 months we got it out. The personalized care I get to not only identify problems but to put together a plan to get out ahead of issues gives me a sense of confidence that I can stay on top of this. It's so very critical that everyone be checked and know you're ok. I highly and without hesitation recommend Dr McGuiness. read more

I came in for a full body check and everything went really smooth. There was a little bit of a wait (25 min) but it didn't seem that bad. Dr. Mcguiness is very personable. We removed a mole I just didn't like and he took biopsies on two others. Went very quick, no pain. He did try to sell me on a cosmetic thing, but who cares, that's what they do. It was very informative and you can always say no. Definitely better than my last dermatologist. I'm glad I found this place. read more

Don't go here unless you want to waste your money. My daughter was concerned about the moles she had, which she has had since she was 10. I finally told her to go see a dermatologist (I am an anesthesiologist and her mother, but I didn't want to miss anything). She got in quickly ( I know why now) and I went with her. The PA came in and looked her over. She said she should have two moles biopsied, though I could not see any difference between the moles she chose and all the others, so we did. She was told to make a follow-up appointment, though I am not sure why. One mole came back as normal but one was a "moderately dysplastic nevi" They decided to do another biopsy on a mole that she had been told to watch. It was 3 weeks after the first appointment, so I don't see how things could have changed. She was never seen by an MD even though two of her moles were "dysplastic-moderate grade". It took over three weeks of phone calls and leaving messages before we could talk to someone about her results from the second biopsy. I finally talked to someone who gave me the results and seemed to be reading a script about how to proceed with dysplastic nevi. She rattled off that 62% of doctors recommend a surgical excision of the area where the mole was biopsied, adding that she couldn't do any heavy lifting for 4 weeks and couldn't travel for 2 weeks! Since then, I have done a lot of research, and guess what, management of moderate grade dysplastic nevi is controversial, but recent literature suggests that watching them is the best way to proceed, they rarely (almost never) proceed to a melanoma and nothing is gained by doing a surgical excision except the bank account of the doctors. Unscrupulous doctors like these are using PAs to do unnecessary biopsies and recommending surgical procedures to make money, not to do what is best for the patient. read more

I have been seeing Sarah at the Flower Mound location for my skincare needs and she has been great! She is a fantastic esthetician, so nice and friendly, and most of all passionate about skincare and what's best for you! She is never pushy with products or upselling, and if something isn't working she's not going to keep pushing for more. In fact, when she had lasered my dark spots a couple of times and they hadn't gone away, instead of continuing to do that she referred me to one of their dermatologists. I also have had Sarah do a hydrafacial which I HIGHLY recommend!! read more
