Price increased $600 after I called to make an appointment to see the car.

I saw a car listed on Cars.com and called today to make an appointment to see it this afternoon. When I looked up the info again 30 mins after I made the appointment, they had raised the price $600, despite the fact they had been dropping the price for several weeks. I received a phone call, verbatim: "This is Miguel, one of the managers here at McGrath City Hyundai, I hope you're doing great. I know that you saw the different price on the website. They went up. Don't worry. We're willing to honor that price. It's just sometimes our system goes with the market, what they're going for, automatically. So give me a call. Let me know. I know you had an appointment today. I just, you know, we're willing to honor the price." What a COINCIDENCE that after repeatedly dropping the price now suddenly it's $600 more after I called. Do not do business with these people unless you like being cheated and defrauded.

I saw an advertisement from McGrath City for a 2017 Ford Focus RS in December 2024 and requested information about the car. Tamara from the dealership contacted me and provided videos and a CarFax report. The report indicated that the car had sustained minor damage to the front in 2019. I inquired further about this, and Tamara texted me that "there is no damage to the vehicle." Based on this understanding, I agreed to purchase the car, believing it to be in good condition and free of damage. After completing the purchase, I arranged transportation through Sherpa Auto Transport. The car was picked up from the dealership on January 8, 2025, and inspected by the carrier before transportation. The inspection sheet documented multiple areas of damage, including the wheels and front bumper. The dealership acknowledged these damages by signing the inspection sheet. This raises serious concerns that either the salesperson misrepresented the car's condition to secure the sale, or the vehicle sustained damage while on the dealership's premises after my purchase. I wired the remaining payment of $36,281.30 to the dealership, which was confirmed on January 2, 2025. However, I only have received my copy of the purchase agreement on 17th, despite repeated attempts to contact Tamara. Issues During the Purchase Process The purchasing process itself was riddled with complications: Inflated Fees: The initial out-the-door price included several surcharges, such as a $2,995 Advantage Package, a $1,798 First Place Finish Package, and a $953 Doc Process Fee--far exceeding the state limit of $358. After discussions, the dealership removed these additional packages, as well as a $595 process fee that they claimed covered a vehicle inspection before sale. Delays and Errors: I requested a walkthrough of the paperwork with a finance representative via video chat before signing, as I am based in California. It took four days to arrange this call. Additionally, the initial purchase agreement contained several errors: The odometer reading on the purchase order did not match the actual vehicle. My $1,000 deposit was omitted from the agreement. The inspection sheet was incomplete, missing checkmarks and the technician's signature. These errors required multiple revisions, delaying the finalization of the agreement until December 28, 2024. Arbitration Agreement Pressure: The original agreement included an arbitration clause that the dealership insisted I sign. After expressing my discomfort, the floor manager, Spike Edwards, initially canceled the transaction and agreed to refund my deposit. Later, Tamara informed me that the general manager waived the arbitration requirement, allowing the purchase to proceed. Unreasonable Deadlines: After confirming the payment on January 2, Tamara began urging me on January 4 to provide carrier information, despite the dealership originally agreeing to hold the car for 18 days. On December 13, Spike agreed to store the car until December 31, 2025, after the purchase was finalized. Current Status and Dealer Response The car was delivered to me, and I messaged Tamara on January 15 to address the damages. I have received no response from her as of January 18. This morning, I spoke with Sales Manager Leonardo, who initially denied the existence of damage until I presented evidence that the dealership acknowledged it before shipping the car. I informed him of a repair quote from a local body shop for $2,170 to fix the front bumper. Leonardo dismissed my request for compensation, stating there is "no way" they would pay for repairs on a used car and wished me good luck if I pursue help through the DMV or small claims court.

I've been in the car business for over 8 years, including time behind the finance desk, and I've…read morenever encountered anything as unprofessional, misleading, and frustrating as my experience with Mike Anderson Chevrolet. I purchased a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 from them earlier this year, and what should have been a smooth transaction turned into a months-long nightmare that I am still dealing with to this day. Deceptive Sales Process I first contacted the dealership on January 31st after finding the truck listed on their website. It was advertised as a Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle -- this was a major selling point for me. After discussing financing and pricing, the salesman later told me that the truck was not actually certified -- but "pre-certified" -- and that the advertised CPO status would cost me an additional $1,995. Not only was that never disclosed upfront, but it was in direct contradiction to the listing on their own site and the vehicle's Carfax report. I will attach a screenshot of the listing clearly showing that the truck was advertised as Chevrolet Certified, as well as documentation from the Carfax. This kind of bait-and-switch is deceptive and dishonest. It's a tactic designed to artificially inflate profit by misrepresenting what's included in the advertised price. Predatory Financing Pressure Originally, I planned to use my own credit union. Then I noticed the dealership's website offered a Capital One pre-approval tool, and I already had a pre-approval with Capital One, who is one of their advertised preferred lenders. I'll also attach a screenshot showing their website promoting Capital One Auto Navigator. I told them Capital One was the only bank I wanted my credit submitted to, and they said that would be no problem. Then, out of nowhere, the sales manager refused to sell me the truck at all unless I financed through GM Financial. Not only did he pull the discount, he outright refused to sell the vehicle unless I used a lender of his choosing. This was an absolutely outrageous abuse of power and a blatant attempt to maximize back-end profit through a higher interest rate. (Which, by the way, was nearly 5% higher than what I was already approved for.) I went through with the financing -- fully knowing I would immediately refinance -- but the entire transaction left me disgusted. Post-Sale Neglect & Tag Delays I signed paperwork on Feb. 18. The truck was delivered on Feb. 25 -- with no temporary tag, making it illegal to drive. I didn't receive a temp tag until Feb. 27 after repeated follow-ups. As part of the out-of-state sale, the dealership used a third-party registration company (ATC), a company I've worked with many times. They're efficient -- when the dealership provides what's needed. But after my sale, I received zero updates on my permanent registration. I started asking about my plates on March 31st, and despite dozens of calls, voicemails, and emails -- not one person from finance or the title department has responded to this day. I've left countless voicemails and received nothing back. It's now been over four months. My first temp tag was about to expire, and even then, I had to beg for a second one. I sent messages on May 21, May 25, May 27, and finally on May 31 -- two days after my tag expired -- I got a response with another excuse. I didn't receive the second temp tag until June 2nd. Out of desperation, I even emailed seven different managers listed on their website. Not a single one responded. Final Thoughts This entire experience has been a masterclass in how not to run a dealership. I've never encountered such a blatant disregard for honesty, professionalism, or customer follow-up. If they're willing to treat a knowledgeable, experienced buyer like this -- I shudder to think how they treat customers who aren't familiar with the process. I have filed complaints with the: Better Business Bureau Chicago Automobile Trade Association Illinois Automobile Dealers Association Illinois Secretary of State's Motor Vehicle Review Board Avoid Mike Anderson Chevrolet at all costs. I'll be including screenshots of the misleading listing and the false advertising of Capital One as a preferred lender. Let this serve as a warning to anyone considering doing business here.

I've owned a lot of cars over the years--from BMWs to 300Zs--and after driving the Subaru Crosstrek for nearly a decade now, I can confidently say it stands in a league of its own. It's the perfect balance of size, shape, practicality, and everyday performance. I was never chasing high performance--I wanted something reliable, comfortable, and capable in all conditions--and the Crosstrek has consistently delivered, whether I'm navigating city streets, cruising the highway, or taking on backroads. Berman has been my go-to dealership from the very beginning, and for good reason. The team is always professional, straightforward, and genuinely helpful. Pricing is very fair, the process is smooth, and their service department has been consistently excellent over the years. A big shoutout to Daniel Szontagh--he made this latest experience just as seamless as the others. No pressure, no gimmicks, just honest help and great communication. I recently traded up to the Crosstrek Hybrid, and even after just a few days, all I can say is: wow. The previous models were great handlers, but this one takes it to another level. It feels incredibly smooth, connected to the road, and surprisingly comfortable--even over Chicago potholes. It's refined without losing that fun, capable feel that makes the Crosstrek so enjoyable to drive. If you're in the market for a Subaru--or even a quality used car--do yourself a favor and check out Berman Subaru. And if you can, ask for Daniel. You'll be in good hands.

Every time you repair something you think good now I don't have to worry about anymore repairs, but they kept popping up to a point where I knew I needed to look for a more reliable car. After a little research I decided on a Honda Accord. The Honda Accords are known to be one of the most reliable cars, plus they have a great resale value. My brother in Seattle currently has one that has 230,000 miles on it. After looking on line for about 5 - 6 weeks I saw a Honda Accord @ Millennium Auto @ 3250 N Cicero Ave. The car that I found on line was a good $4-5,000 dollars less then other Accords that were posted on line. I called and asked if the car was still available. When I found out that it was still available I went there immediately. (Millennium Auto is only 2.8 miles from where I live). When I got there I asked for Tony Marcial the gent that I spoke to on the phone. The first thing I asked him is what's wrong with this car. I figured there must be something wrong with this car to be posted for so much less then market value. Tony was very straight forward and told me that the car was rebuilt. He showed me pictures of the damage to the front right end of the car before the rebuild I took the car out for a test drive and it drove like a brand new car w/only 10,618 miles. I asked Tony if I could take this car to my mechanic before making the decision to buy it. He agreed to let me take it to my mechanic. After the mechanic inspected it he said it looks like they did a great job and said the parts used were original Honda parts. We took it for a test drive and once again it drove like a new car. He asked me what they were asking for it and I said 11K out the door, tax, title, license plates. He said he would buy it for that price and so I did. I paid cash and drove out with my new/used car This turned out to be an awesome car. I bought the car in Aug 2014. Until Jan 2019 the only servicing I did were gas and oil changes. No major maintenance. Jan 13, 2019 some guy tried pulling a U Turn while I was in the left lane next to him. The next thing I Know my car is being towed in and declared a total loss. Think about it I bought the car 08/14 & it's totaled on 01/13/19. Like I said these cars a very reliable and hold their value. I had over 63,000 miles on the car in just over 4 years and the insurance company is giving me back what I paid for the car. Tony at Millennium Auto was very helpful. I actually called on him again when I started looking for my next car.
