We had a lightning storm that must have hit our house as the GFIs tripped on several circuits. Mr. McGee got us back in operation and he had time to take care a short list of electrical needs. Can I leave a 0 star rating. He seemed nice and competent until he arrived at my home. He said he was a licensed electrician and I hired him to mount 2 TVs with hidden cables and add an outlet in my bathroom. He said $500 for all. I felt uncomfortable immediately when he entered my home. He didn't have the equipment he needed but I gave him the tools, and he did not install the TVs where I asked them to be installed. I was in the room telling him where to put them and he told me he wouldn't install them that high. I measured the spot and assured him that is where I needed it to be above my dresser. (Now the TV has to be pulled out far enough for my antique dresser mirror to fit behind it.) He cut holes in my walls and didnt have the coverings for the holes. He broke an outlet in my kitchen getting to the wires to put the extra outlet in my bathroom. He stated he would be back to repair that at no charge. After 4 hours he demanded he be paid and now the total was $750. He wanted my credit card info. He stated he didn't want a check. I didn't trust him with my credit card info. He took the check, but instead of making it out to McGee's Home Solutions, he asked it be made out in his wife's name because "she owned the business license'. Her last name was not McGee. I looked at the SC Department of Labor and Licenses. He nor his wife can be found or his business. It has been 8 months he has messaged a few times saying he would be coming to finish the job but has never returned. I would never hire him again or let him back in my home. read more

just now My first install went well. No issue. Return install not so good, my 55 inch Samsung QLED is no longer working it was damaged it was working fine before. I attempted to resolve this with him, to no avail. I accept that I should have verified bonding and signed agreement regarding liability before hiring. Big lesson learned on my part. **CUSTOMERS BEWARE** First, if you check for this company's license and insurance in the state of SC you won't find it. We were naive enough not to ask for it before hiring them and that's on us. At first, he appeared to be knowledgeable, experienced, and professional but we hired him one year ago this month to address a laundry list of items around our home that are still about 3/4 incomplete. He and his team came through on the first day (last October) and worked hard and we trusted him that he would be back to finish up the tasks that were left incomplete. In fact, he even came back the second day for a little bit of time and claimed he had a family issue and would be back in the next few days following that. He asked us to pay him the second half of what was owed him because he had to pay his team and promised us he would be back. We trusted him. We paid him. We have yet to see his face again. Again, also on us. I will NEVER trust a person just on their word again. After months and months of him giving us every single excuse in the book why he couldn't come to complete the list, we asked him to pay us back for the work that wasn't done (close to $1,000). He agreed in writing to do so and we worked out a payment plan to make it easier for him. We have yet to see any of that money. In the meantime, we had to pay to have the hot tub his team hooked up fixed because they wired it incorrectly and almost burned out our motor. A water line that was run through the wall in our garage burst and nearly ruined the workout equipment in that bay of the garage, not to mention the drywall where the water leaked had to be replaced. The bottom line is, you can not count on him to do what he says he will do. He is not trustworthy, and he will take advantage of kind, and understanding people. And I seriously question he and his team's abilities to complete tasks competently. Please don't be a victim like us. Aside from the financial loss (which for our family is fairly substantial), his behavior and failure to be true to his word have caused a-lot of emotional and mental time and energy that we will never get back. read more
