The unfortunate and frustrating part of the car buying experience was trying to get the car registered and insured. We had to call and prompt the sales person, sales manager and dealership manager to get the appropriate paperwork. No one seemed clear on the process. The sales person did drive the paperwork down to us, however, we received at 3pm on the last day we could register the car. We couldn't drive our new car for a week due to the lack of understanding nd follow through on their end. What started off s a good experience, unfortunately ended very poorly. We won't be returning.

We were there to look at what our options were and how much we were looking at for a payment we didn't even have a dollar in our pocket YET WE LEFT WITH A CAR. At first he was cool and chill explaining to my man with no credit he wasn't going to be approved for a truck like he wanted. So the salesman showed him something in his budget which was a 2016 Subaru Impreza told my man he has these cars for credit building and the payment would be 330 a month. He was telling us what we wanted to hear. When we called for insurance we were told a number which mad it so we wouldn't be able to cover everything as we had a newborn at the time. When we told the salesman that we couldnt afford the insurance so we weren't gonna move forward with the car. The salesman payed the first month of insurance himself so he could continue pushing us into the car well we left with it and have made the payment work. Here a year later I'm finding out he over sold us by 10 thousand dollars we took it to a brand dealership and they put the car through Kelly blue book and the car is only work 6 thousand at the most and he sold it to us for 16 thousand plus a 3thousand dollar warranty so we can't even trade the car in and we have already spent near to more than 2 thousand dollars on repairs and to find out the whole exhaust is rusted through. This place is a scam and we are stuck with this rust bucket cuz no bank will approve us for a loan for a car when we have to roll over 10 thousand ontop of the new car.

Despite hearing mixed reviews, I bought a 2019 certified pre-own Forester from Dan O'Brien Subaru…read morein May and had a good experience with the salesman and all staff on the day of purchase. They gave me a decent deal for what I was willing to spend, and staff outside of sales were friendly too. However, upon picking my car up I was handed one key for a one year old car(2019) that I spent nearly 25K on. This seemed odd and was never mentioned upon my purchase of the car so I asked the salesman if they'd throw in another key. He said they couldn't. I then asked the sales manger the same question, and he said they couldn't because the previous owner hadn't turned the second one in, but they would call me in a week or two when someone visited who they get keys from and I could buy one. I was frustrated they didn't tell me this in the initial deal, but decided this was my best option and rolled with it. However, after driving my car the first day after purchase I went on the interstate toward Boston. The car started shaking like crazy over 60mph and I had to drive all the way to Boston under 60. I was pissed, but called and scheduled an appointment to have it fixed, and got it in the next day free of cost(to be expected with problems day 1). It ended up being mud and dirt in the wheel well and the staff of the shop apologized profusely and washed it. But here's my question: if a car is "certified pre-owned" how does a massive clump of mud and dirt that dangerously shakes the car get missed in the inspection of a vehicle?? No certified car should ever shake like that, period. Shouldn't that have been seen before selling the car and even if it happened on a previous test drive wouldn't they look over the vehicle again? I was furious, but let it go considering it was fixed for free and the repair shop was friendly and apologetic. However, two weeks later I remembered my second key....which I never got a call about. I then called the GM who didn't say much about the mud and dirt when I told him, but was friendly and said he would call me the next day regarding a second key regardless of he had one just so I'd be updated. Guess what? No call. I was very frustrated and wished I had gone elsewhere where I could've gotten a similar car and deal without the hassle rather than settling for the convenience of my hometown dealership. If all you want is a decent deal that's done once you put pen to paper, buy from Dan O'Brien. If you want a dealership that tells you everything you should know about a car before purchase and follows through after the deal is done, find somewhere else. Update June 10, 2020 Today I went to fill my windshield wiper fluid and noticed the reservoir for my engine coolant was almost entirely empty. I don't know how that's possible if they did a 100+ point check for a certified pre-owned vehicle. Brought it in this morning and they filled it for free. Craig was respectful per usual and got me straight into the garage. However, to run into this only one month after having my car shake on the highway from massive clumps of mud and dirt that also should have been seen in a check of a certified vehicle makes me doubt how well these cars are looked over. I also mentioned how I never got a call from Pete about a second key and was told they haven't had the people visit who make keys in a while(Pete told me two weeks ago he'd call me the next day regardless of if he had one for an update)...I've noticed many reviews about Pete not following up with people. Overall, I think the staff are still plenty friendly and they have been attentive to a few of my problems, but I wouldn't buy here again considering the things either missed or not checked on the vehicle before purchase and the lack of follow up about little things that matter.

After working out a deal on the phone--with offers confirmed repeatedly over text--on a trade-in of my existing Crosstrek and a lease of a new Outback Wilderness, I visited Dan O'Brien Subaru psyched to leave with a new car. After waiting for almost 20 minutes for the sales manager's time, my wife and I sat down at a table intending to sign paperwork to complete the transaction we had agreed to before coming in. Instead, after making something resembling a sexist remark involving my wife, the sales manager presented me with a deal for a purchase of the car--not a lease--that would have resulted in a monthly payment almost $200 more than what we agreed to on the phone. Then, when I insisted that I see the lease deal they offered on the phone, the sales manager went back to his office for several minutes. He returned with a lease offer that was $100 more per month and shorter in lease term than what I was quoted on the phone. He claimed it was the best offer he could make. When I asked why there was such a difference between this offer and the one I was promised, he blamed the online estimation system they used to generate offers. He said that, in his time at the dealership, this had been a consistent problem: the online system seemed to always generate inaccurate offers. Bottom line: the sales manager at Dan O'Brien Subaru is knowingly--and apparently repeatedly--using an inaccurate tool to offer quoted prices that he has zero intention of honoring. I'm guessing he's doing this to lure people into the dealership in the hope that they'll agree to the higher price once they're there and see the car, etc. If I were a lawyer, I'd look into fraud charges. But I'm not, so I'll have to settle with having spent an afternoon learning to never set foot at Dan O'Brien Subaru again, and make sure that no one I care about does, either. One star because the play area they had for my kids was nice, and because free bottled water and snacks were a nice gesture.
