We plan to hire again and would definitely recommend!

I was some what surprised that he said didn't need any as I thought he would be cleaning my ash pit , maybe I didn't explain what I wanted very well. He gave me my bill for just coming 22 miles and looking things over 20 min tops and charge 160.50 for the service call and had to do nothing ,but a lot of talking about himself and his business and ones he use to run. Would not call this service again , feel like I was taken advantage of.

We're so fortunate Ben from Midtown Chimney Sweeps inspected our fireplace…read more In a nut shell, our fireplace is not safe. We are not certified in chimney inspections. When Ben showed me with a flashlight current damage and multiple pictures, I couldn't believe how much deterioration there was. We had a chimney fire in the spring. We burn fire nearly everyday from October to May. We were given a bit of wood to burn in the winter. The fire happened when I started burning the free wood and we chalked it up to the wood. Wrong!!! I learned so much. Ben explained everything! He knows his stuff. He is definitely a professional in his field. Since we did have a fire, he wrote an extensive report for our insurance company. Very professionally written with lots of information and pictures. The work that needs to be done is extensive. Our unique problem is not something they can fix. Besides the inspection fee, they did not and can not gain any additional profit with this inspection. We are so glad we called Midtown Chimney Sweeps.

His rooftop inspection showed a rusted chimney cap, which he offered to sand and seal for a fraction of the cost of replacing it with stainless steel. He offered to do this but did not push us to do so; we ended up having him take care of this, too, and are very pleased with the results. He did great work at a lower price point than the other places I called. Highly recommend him!

I can't say enough good things about Mike and his service. We had a chimney fire on a Saturday…read moremorning in a stove pipe from a wood stove: our source of heat on a 20 degree day. The firefighters removed the stove pipe from the wood stove to the ceiling 18 feet above and from the roof up to the chimney cap: they wanted to be sure that there was no fire anywhere. After the "all clear", we made four calls to find someone to put us back together: we needed heat. Two did not provide a return call. One could put us on a list. Mike called back within 30 minutes and was at our place within 90 minutes. Not really knowing the conditions of our place, he offered and brought special cleaning supplies for the fine dust of the ash and fire extinguisher. He assessed the situation and got to work. Not only was he professional and efficient, he was empathetic, personal and funny. We cleaned. He reassembled; was very thorough about being sure things went back together to ensure safety; taught us things about fire building and maintenance; and ensured that we had heat from the wood stove by 5pm. Mike will now be part of our annual wood stove maintenance program. We are very grateful to the fire fighters and Mike who took very good care of us in this emergency. Thanks Mike!

I called them and asked if they could come out and take a look. They informed me that they were too busy to come out and take a look and that they probably could sometime in February. So I looked around on the internet and found Top Notch. I'm glad I did. I have had a lot of service people come to my house for repairs and such and they all seem to fly through the work and are wanting to get tot he next job. I felt that he wanted to do the job to a "T" and make sure everything was in great, not good, great working order. I really appreciated that. He also spent the time to show me the parts and how to operate my fireplace. Thomas went above and beyond anything I thought was possible for a chimney inspection and cleaning. He even made the firebox look brand new by painting the inside and trim.

We did not get multiple bids, so I am not sure how his pricing compares but the communication, timeliness, punctuality and overall chimney knowledge was greatly appreciated.
