I needed to replace the EPS steering damper on my 2013 Toyota Camry. After reviewing online…read morefeedback and calling several local shops for estimates, I ultimately selected Huntingtown Automotive. Prior to taking my car in, I researched the typical repair costs. The replacement damper itself is an inexpensive part (around $10), and a fair total repair cost at an independent shop typically ranges from $300 to $450 based on 2 to 3 hours of labor. Many Camry owners reported paying roughly $300 at independent shops familiar with this specific fix. When I called Huntingtown Automotive beforehand, they gave me an estimate of approximately $300. However, once the job was completed, I was billed $750 based on 6 hours of labor. Surprised by the unexpected cost, I discussed the invoice with the shop manager, Troy, who subsequently reduced the bill to $600. While I appreciated the discount, I still feel that $600 is significantly higher than what is fair and reasonable for this repair.

I have taken my cars here since 2011. Recently, Mr. Hank retired and now it's Nealy's, though all…read morethe signs say Twin Beach. I called earlier this am to ask about checking a tire for a slow leak and they said they could check it and had time. I left immediately (about 3 miles away) and when I got there, they told me it was a 1-2 hour wait and could not give me an exact time. I'm glad it happened, because we also have a new truck and I know not to have it serviced here. Dodged a bullet. I then called Eagle by the 7-11 and they fit me right in and got the screw out and plugged it in 20 minutes. They were also very kind and gracious. Eagle will now be our go to place. This place is nothing like when Mr. Hank was running things. We will not be back, after 11 years of our business. Also, my oil change previously went from $20 up to $60 as my car says to use synthetic. Mr. Hank never made me put synthetic in it. I get it, but it would have been nice to know.

Side note 1: the truck wasn't safe to drive when I picked it up so I took it immediately to another shop. Side note 2: I called 2x to speak with TJ and emailed as well: no answer. I don't think they're dishonest. I just think they lack the experience to properly diagnose vehicles. Seems like they look at it like "let's see what we can come up with" as opposed to "what needs to be fixed." Finally, every time I called, whoever answered the phone always just said "Hello" like she was answering her home phone. Not very professional.
