Anyhow, I called Ed, explained the problem, he had me check a few things, and pretty much identified the problem over the phone. He said he was on another job at the moment and would get back to me later in the day. Unlike many of the other services I've reached out to on Yelp lately, he actually followed through and came by late afternoon. Within about 10 to 15 minutes he found a short in an outlet and fixed the problem. I will not hesitate to contact Ed again for all my electrical needs! I was told an hourly rate over the phone which I was ok with. The tech was fine and did his job but the install took less than 1 hour tops. No bill was sent to me and the only way I knew of the overcharge was when my cc was charged 2.5 months later. I was told of the charges butno paper sent and had to ask for a delayed bill via email? Turns out, I was charged 2x the amount of labor time by ef winslow. I believe the tech sat out front in my complex and and charged me for 1 hour of labor- 139 per 1/2 hour so an extra $278 of erroneous labor. I spoke to Arnold and although I thought he was helpful he would only issue a store credit for 1 1/2 time slot and I was told they don't issue store credits back to customers on ccs. Only store credits for future work scheduled so you don't get your $ back. This means that in order to get my $ back I will need to work with these folks again....not appropriate. If you have a credit card machine and you charge people you can credit them. Im.not recommending EF Winslow due to their poor billing practices, lack of staying on budget and then not correctly rectifying the billing issue. They probably have lost a client they had after their first work with me. Don't do any work without them providing a written estimate or buyer be aware they will overcharge you.

They sent me a bill "120 days past due" for a preventative maintence contract I never established. His explanation was that the contract is w/ the address... not the owner...? How does an address start a contract.. & how, then, was the bill/acct in my name, if the contract was with the previous owner? He spoke over me the entire conversation. Could not get one full sentence out... then had the audacity, after I finally got a few words out to say ".. well, if you had just said that in the beginning..." Very rude, ignorant man. Previous incidents had left me frustrated, but I was a renter at the time & had no control over the choice of service provider. One tech showed up 2 hours AFTER the four hour window I had been given for the appt & then became verbally abusive with me bc I said it was too late & I was on my way out the door. I called the office & didn't even lodge any kind of complaint, just asked that that particular tech not be assigned to my address again. The woman said she would make a note on the acct. He was sent again, the following week. Laughed at me, when I expressed surprise he was there. When I called the office, the woman denied that anyone there would agree to such a note & didn't care about the poor treatment. Simply said techs are assigned according to the job & availability, period. Another tech appeared to have a psychotic break in my basement during a simple preventative maintence call (ordered by the previous owner). He was down there banging & clanging things, LOUDLY swearing & yelling at himself & the heating unit. I had told him on the way in that there was a 3rd shift worker sleeping in the house & asked him, to the best of his ability, to keep noise to a minimum. It sounded like he was fighting w/ someone & throwing things. I went down to inquire & he was spiraling out, literally tantruming. Said he broke a part & he'd have to come back. When he did, the same behavior continued. I was so concerned, I haven't allowed anyone from their company in my home since... & certainly never will again. When I've shared this w/ other community members, they say things like, "Yeah, they've really gone down hill." I've had dealings w/ them for over 15 years. I've never seen anything BUT poor service & performance... & deplorable customer relations across the board.

I worked on heaters for years he definitely didn't know what he was doing according to Scott (who was extremely ignorant) when I told him I had an electrical contractor look at the system said they wired it wrong. Said we never touched any wires. So it must work magically then. Needless to say they charged us for what there service man ruined. The owner doesn't care either never received a call back. Scott said there on the same page. Now we have to hire someone to rewire it. Monday morning I call and what do you know got Scott again and he said he can not send anyone out, That is when I lost it a little and he got a different man to come end of day and he said the wire was broken he replaced a thermostat and got the heat working in the main house but not in the bedrooms (two valve house separate heat but same system) He said we need to replace the valve head which we did......But we usually do not run the heat in the bedrooms unless it is very extremely cold like it has been this past week. So we go to try to turn the heat on in the bedrooms and guess what?!?!?!?!?! NO HEAT..... call Hall Oil and talk to Scott he said that they did not touch any wires and that we would have to pay for them to come out........Can you make this up? Where do I start? We hired Cape Cod Independent Power in November of 2021. It took the gas…read morecompany 15 weeks, due to the number of customers looking to get gas lines hooked up to run the line into our house. We finally got our line run to the house on 1/24/22. A note for the gas company, you need to deal with Ellen Whelan, as she is so helpful and she will do everything in her power to help you. CCIP came out on Thursday 1/27/22 and had the gas fitters and electricians do their part and then I called the gas company to place the meter so the final work could be completed. The gas company placed the meter Friday and the electricians came out and finished their work and Nick, the owner of CCIP came out Friday night at 6:30 PM to start the generator and we were good to go. This all happened last week the night before the "Cyclone Bomb" storm we all dealt with on Cape Cod. We lost power at 8:00 AM Saturday and it didn't return until Sunday at 2:00 AM. So, if we didn't have the tremendous work effort of CCIP we would have either froze or would have had to find a hotel for the night, which given the fact that all the electrical companies had already booked all the rooms in the area, we would've been SOL. So, if you are considering a generator for your house, please look into CCIP as they are the BEST on Cape Cod and they will treat you right.
