It's a beautiful deserted highway, with expansive views and almost no traffic. The only problem is that there are hardly any services for probably 200 miles. Cowboy Cafe in Montello is the perfect rest stop. They have burgers and beer and bathrooms! You can even call ahead, but why would you want to? There is a park next to the restaurant if you brought your own lunch. I highly recommend exploring this tiny town, the cemetery is unbelievable, a home with a guy who collected dozens of signs, and an art house with lots of mirrors and glass that's easy to find. There's also a small gas station next door. A lifesaver if you didn't plan ahead, but I hope nobody's that stupid! This is definitely a red state location, plenty of Trump signage inside when we were there. But they were nice to us libtards regardless of politics.

I ordered the sirloin steak with mushrooms and onions, broccoli cheese soup, and a salad. The server was very nice but had a lot of tables to serve as she was alone. The steak was so tender that I was able to cut it with a butter knife. The soup was excellent, the salad was fresh and crisp with cheese on top, and small tomatoes. It was one of the best meals that I've had in a long time. Everyone was enjoying their meals because I kept hearing remarks of "This is excellent" and "This is really great" from other tables. I also tried their apple ice cream dessert which was really, really fantastic! The ambience was for families and those who wanted to be alone as there were tables, booths, and a counter. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained. I also want to mention the Chef who was preparing everyone's meals did a really phenominable job! We have the Burger King app, so we were able to locate a family meal with three whoppers, three junior bacon cheeseburgers and three fries for $22. Not bad for being on the road. Since we are a large group we had to order two of them. There's only one coupon allowed per group, so my wife went through the drive-through, and we went inside. An interesting sidenote, we've done this a few times. And drive-through definitely gets a priority. We were able to order about the same time as my wife did. She got her food bring it in, we sat at the table and ate and by the time we finished her Family meal, ours arrived. Burger King is pretty consistent. Great tasting burgers in my opinion, however they changed their fries years ago ( maybe around 2k and I just never really enjoyed any of the new styles of fries they have tried to do.
