I'm just going to say it. This is a good McDonald's. Anybody complaining about the wait time or service should know better than to visit during peak hours when everyone wants their dollar cone or Crocs Happy Meal. Pretty much nothing is open late in Kerrisdale. This is the saving grace. Food: hot. Ice cream portions: fantastic. Cleanliness: as good as Ronald gets (bathroom is good enough). I'm always a huge fan of 24h locations, for those times when you have the night munchies. Therefore, McDs makes my list. The location is spacious, and at night there is more than enough parking. There's a drive thru here too. There's supposedly a nice large patio upstairs but they close it at night. Boooo.. Other than that, the McNuggets I had were quite tasty. This is one dirties McDonald that I have ever been. It's totally something I don't expect. It's short staffed. And not to mention, the garbage can is full of garbage. I am not talking one. I am talking all. There are dirty trays on table. No one comes around cleaning it. Also the drink area is all super sticky. You must be kidding me. What is going on here. So came in ordered the peppermint hot chocolate. The staff screwed up my order. Well took them 5 mins to make the peppermint hot chocolate. It wasn't that special either. Very disappointed. The worst run a McDonalds ever. 30min for a happy meal, my kid had a function so we ducked in. No urgency, none of the staff seem to have direction. Its great to have a ticket # but the staff didn't seem to prioritize ticket numbers they just did whatever was quick to clear so while a Happy Meal waited to be fixed they just left it tondo other orders. Also nobody at the til and it took 10min of waiting before we have up and did machineZ manager was holding interviews and during a busy time WTF is that. Their drive thru has two ordering stations which are placed in sequence as opposed to side-by-side, unlike most other franchise locations. They appear to be using a new audio system, which provides much better sound quality than I am used to at drive-thrus. There appeared to be multiple speaker grilles embedded into the menu board and I couldn't tell where the sound was coming from or where was the microphone I should speak towards. I pulled up to the first ordering station and spoke my order one item at a time, pausing between each selection and waiting for the agent's response. I never heard any acknowledgement at all and I was tempted to ask if they could hear me. However, I resisted the urge to do so as I assumed they were busy punching my order into the till. After a long period of dead air, the team member finally asked me to pull forwards to the second ordering station. I did so and discovered half of the digital displays at the second station were out of order. The agent asked me for my order again. I asked if she had received the order I had just placed, or if I needed to repeat it in its entirety. She asked me to repeat my question. I repeated my question, she repeated her question. And so on. After going around in circles for a while, I decided to abort the transaction and go somewhere else. Normally I wouldn't mind such a small delay and I don't typically complain, but on this occasion I was hungry, constrained for time, and the experience was really frustrating. I am sure the team here is great but it seems like the company's drive-thru equipment could use some improvement. read more

The service is awful. One of the staff members decided to kick these innocent teenagers out even though they did nothing and were eating and studying. The staff member decided to question them (only) and proceeded to blame them for something they did not do. (I was there before the situation escalated) The staff member, which is a she, also screamed at all the customers around her. Everyone there was trying to enjoy their food. Two days in a row I've been to this not since well operated McDonald's. Yesterday i ordered a bacon and egg McMuffin, add sausage. I received a double sausage egg McMuffin. Today I went there at 7:50am. They were out of hashbrowns. I've had countless bad experiences yet I keep going hoping there will be some sort of better service. Whether it be getting wrong grill orders, missing items, long waits in the drive thru despite me being first in line, this McDonald's is the absolute least competent McDonald's I've ever been to. This location is the worst. I go here because it is close to my work. It is located at a VERY busy intersection so I do understand there will almost always be a wait for food. Thing is, I expect an establishment that is this popular to recognize this is the case and adapt. Schedule more people! Train employees on efficiency! Do NOT tell someone, "Just wait. Your order is coming," in an impatient tone only to realize you accidentally gave it to someone else. I literally waited 20 min for a single coffee. That was my entire order. Speaking from other experiences, this location has a tendency to serve people in order. Which is fine in theory but logically it makes no sense. If someone orders three burgers and two drinks, and the next person orders a coffee, and the coffee is done first (which it will be since there is usually someone specifically assigned to coffees) ... why are you just letting the coffee sit and get cold waiting for the burgers to be ready first? All in all, if you are looking for convenient fast food, I would go elsewhere. You will probably end up getting your food faster despite the added commute! read more

Well, someone had to write this review. This McDonald's has been fattening up the kids of Kerrisdale for as long as I can remember. It's a convenient drive-thru for parents shuttling their kids after school to piano lessons, hockey practice, swimming lessons, etc. This location makes a ton of money since there aren't any other major fast-food chains in the area. A number of years ago, they completely renovated the place -- rebuilt, really -- with the vague theme of "train station" in a nod to what was historically on this site. The architecture mashes up mountain chalet and brick building. Customers range from the young to the elderly. The service over the years has been consistently courteous, friendly and efficient as the cashiers mow through long lines inside the restaurant and at the drive-thru window. It's probably one of the nicest McD's in Vancouver. There's an upstairs seating area, including a patio-like terrace. 24/7 drive-thru and free wifi. read more

The place is really dirty. Yes there is construction going on. But does not mean there is no need to clean up piled up trash or clean the tables. This was my favourite childhood location to go to for McD. Now it's just sad. Also the staff seems either too young or poorly trained. Asked if they had salad in the late night because they don't always have it. Instead I get from service person to a supervisor and having to explain why they don't have salads And here im saying yes it's fine I just want to order something else then, but then they just keep going on explaining why they don't salads. I felt so bad for the staff they were clearly overwhelmed. I pulled up around 2am on a Saturday morning to this 24 hour McDonald's. There were maybe 4 cars ahead of me but it took over 30 minutes to get through. They messed up my order. Too few chicken nuggets. No choice in dipping sauce, they just handed the bag to me. The chicken BLT tasted dry and had no pickles like I ordered. The quarter pounder had maybe two pickle slices even though I paid for extra extra pickles. The poor guy at the counter seemed like an out of it zombie who hated his existence. McDonald's should pay for more people so we don't get slow and bad service and incorrect stuff. read more

This used to be a decent place for Angus Burger.. Not anymore! I have never seen anything so burnt and dry. The burger meat is burnt and same with the mushrooms on top. No excuse for saying it's dried out, it was purposely burnt. Yes, the mushroom does turn dark when cooked but anyone that has ever had mushroom can tell the difference. My poor DH have to take it back and demand a new one.. The new one looks slightly less burnt. So sad to see such a big conglomerate lose their quality control from bad franchisee. read more

It seems there is change in owner ship in restaurant. Always mess up orders or they are out of cups, ice cream, etc. it seems owner does it INTENTIONALLY and don't want any customers. . It require so much effort to hurt the customer every time to the point that customers don't go there any more. Remember this is one of the very first or second Macdonald opened in Vancouver. Few years ago they had so many customers and service was quick. They got rid of some of the good managers who worked there (I e one native manager used to work there , he was extremely polite , quick and respectful to customer and others) . it seems they want redevelop the land. This place looks nice from the outside but don't be fooled. My friend and I decided to have dinner around 6:30 pm. We found a nice spot in the upstairs patio. More on that later... The food was subpar as far as fast food goes. Fries were stale and chicken McNuggets had obviously beet cooked for a while and had just been sitting there. Judging by the amount of people that were waiting for their food (a lot), there really shouldn't have been a reason for the food to not be fresh. Plus the staff at the counter are pretty brusque. I saw one of the supervisors literally toss a to-go tray of hot drinks into the customer's hand so hard that the medium coffee in the tray shifted a bit. They would have had a lawsuit on their hands had the lid not been on properly. Anyway, so my friend and I finally got our food and we were enjoying the patio upstairs when we were suddenly approached by one of the staff and told -- not asked, told -- to move downstairs because they were now closing the patio. At 7pm. So two things: First, it was a nice, warm spring day. What are they doing closing the patio at 7:00pm? Second, at least wait for us to finish our meal. I had my fries in my burger container, my quarter pounder half eaten, and my friend and I had just come from buying some groceries so our hands were full. I have never had a good experience here. Staff are rude and slow. Food is often incorrect but when you ask for it to be remade they say that you're lying or ask "why did you take a bite then". Well you have to take a bite to know it's the wrong sandwich. This has happened several times. Why am I reviewing McD's again? Well, when you're starving in Kerrisdale and you don't want to fight for street parking, this is the place for you: the drive-thru! Besides, Justin and Ed can't be the only two Yelpers to eat here, can they be? I consider it the McDs for the wealthy Kerrisdale crowd and a certain demographic group. I don't know how they maintain their figures after dining here, but they do! The parking lot is always packed. I wouldn't even try to go in and order 'cuz it's too busy. The drive thru is long and efficient. The fries are fresh and if you're craving one of those healthy, deep-fried McChickens, this is the place for you. Also, I discovered if you order a coffee with your meal, you will be given a humongous drink, you know, just like the kind Brittany Spears used to order at Starbucks? Every time I've come here it's the craziest most stressful place I could imagine. I feel like I'm at the New York Stock Exchange with people yelling, shouting, scurrying about like little ants. And every time my order gets lost and I watch the masses come and go while I wait for my grub. last time I decided to order a happy meal since it seemed like the healthiest choice. You know - apple slices, some milk, yogurt, and a chicken snackwrap. A fully balanced lunch. The milk ingredients go like this.. "partially skimmed milk, sugar, glucose-fructose , modified corn starch.... etc.." the yogurt ingredients go like this "partially skimmed milk, sugar, cream, glucose-fructose (a nicer word for high fructose corn syrup)...." and then like 12 other ingredients that involved artificial colours and corn products. To be clear: Yes. I do know this is McDonalds. But really? moral of the story: You cannot get healthy food at mcdonalds. You can only get sugar. I'd rather pay the $4.00 and get an almond croissant from Faubourg down the road and I know that that would somehow actually have more nutritional value. read more

Nanaimo bar sundae! Amazing confection available starting today for one month. Crunchy crumbled chocolate topping and so good vanilla sauce over soft ice cream. Okay, not gourmet stuff, but super tasty. This location is a corporate store, so its really posh. Fireplace and patio upstairs, two separate dining areas downstairs, and always the friendliest staff. Chris, the current site manager, is an earnest sort, always speaking respectfully with his staff. Just a nice McDonald's location. Arbutus and 41st, so can be crowded with school kids at lunch hour and just past 3pm, but its never rowdy here. It's always busy with locals in here, which amuses me, as just in the next block are the gourmet coffee bars! Drive-thru and 24 hours, typical menu offerings. read more

Wrong Toppings Again - I thought I would give this location another chance because McDonald's came out with their coupons. Because of food intolerances I special order my hamburgers and now, for the third time in as many visits at the drive thru, I have received the wrong toppings. A poorly run store. Bags of garbage at the front entrance door, both when I entered and still there when I left almost 30 minutes later. 3 of the 4 touch screen order kiosks were out of service. Receipt from counter was nearly out of ink and unreadable. All but one of the soda fountain labels were missing making it impossible to know which drink you were pouring. Greek salad contained a large lettuce core in it. Staff wanted me to "move my feet" so she could sweep under my table *while* I'm eating there. Who's managing this place??? Be warned. read more

Decided to use the drive thru to get a late night meal after work. After waiting an incredibly long time for the two cars ahead of me to get served I was told me they wouldn't serve me because of the vehicle I drive. Seriously. I mean come on. What am i supposed to drive a BMW or Mercedes to grt served at such a fine establishment? Such a weak excuse. I think the girl on the window just didn't want to serve anyone and take a break. Didn't think I would be writing a review about a McDonald's, but it's been a few days after I've been there and I'm still thinking about it. I get there at lunchtime and the parking lot was packed full but i was able to get a spot. The restaurant was really busy with high school kids. We got our order and found a place to sit. The reason why I gave this 4 stars is because the lady that works there in the dinning room cleaning tables was sooo nice. She brought us ketchup, straws and napkins and a extra little toy for my kids. Took our garbage when we were finished and was so friendly and lovely. I would like to congratulate this location on being the worst location I have ever been to in all my life. It is consistently unclean, under staffed, overwhelmed, slow, has kiosks that are rarely functioning, and the few staff that are there can't seem to manage an ice cream machine as it is constantly out of order. All of these qualities are what I look for in a poorly run location that might as well not be open. In addition, why are there no more grilled cheese sandwiches? It is simply two pieces of bread and cheese that I want late at night on my way home. Somehow this is not possible for McDonald's to execute anymore. I love the fact that this McDonald's exist! To have a drive-thru in Kerrisdale/Kits is a real treat to have! A 24 hour drive-thru here is a great added bonus. This location is important to have in this neighborhood. The food here is standard for McDonald's -- no surprises and is exactly what'd you expect. Biggest complaint is that this location seems to rarely have ice cream available. The other day I stopped by the drive-thru and was denied a sundae as it was explained to me that the machines were being cleaned. I'm all for the machines being cleaned, and quite often, but, the catch here is that it was during LUNCH HOUR! Certainly they could have planned this at a more appropriate time than the busiest time of the day to do this. I mention this because this has not been the only time I've been unable to get ice cream at this location. A couple of summers ago, during one of the worst hot spells in the city, there wasn't any ice cream at this location for about a month! I know machines break down and cleaning is a must and there will be down times -- but management at this location seem to fail for having appropriate back up plans or even just properly planning the timing at maintaining the equipment. read more
