I love these little roadside stands that are quickly fading remnants of the past. And I am a root beer connoisseur so of course this place warranted a stop for a root beer float. This is a place where they come out and take your order, apparently--but I didn't know that so I went up to the booth. They were busy chatting so maybe wouldn't have come out very quickly anyway. They are generous with the soft serve and it was a great float. I've already recommended them to a friend who also loves these little drive-ins. I don't know if I'll ever be this far up in the Northwoods again, but I will stop at Dogs N Suds for a root beer float if I am. Old style joint that takes cash or check only (if, unlike me, you know how to write a check) so don't try whipping out your Apple Pay here.

No I didn't ask for a new, corrected order either time because I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait any longer than I already had. No other Culver's has ever filled an order incorrectly in the eight years I've lived in Wisconsin. Only the Rhinelander location! Is it improper training? Individual incompetence? That being said the food came out really quick for there only being two people working. First there is a great selection of loose leaf teas. Just what I was looking for after already having coffee. For lunch I ordered the veggie salsa wrap without cheese and got the chicken salad side. The wrap was a good balance of veggies and the addition of the sunflower seeds added a nice flavor. I also appreciated that the wrap had a nice amount of dressing without it dripping everywhere. I would definitely order it again! I didn't get any pastries or desserts but they looked amazing and I heard a few people raving about the fudge. Maybe I'll have to try some next time. I didn't realize it when I walked in, but there was also a backyard patio. After I ordered my food I decided to sit out there and eat. Very nice setup with lots of tables and just enough shade if you want it.
