I am a fellow business owner in the Tamaqua Area. I wanted to reach out to you about the experience I had at your Hometown location today. I went through your drive through for lunch for my family. Upon arriving home, which is about 20 minutes away, I realized that over half of my order was missing. I called the restaurant to see what could be done. I asked for a refund for the missing items. I was told by a very rude employee that I needed to come in person to get the refund. I explained to her that would take some time, since traffic was crazy and I needed to get back to work (again, I own a business in town). I asked her to refund my card. She rudely told me no and hung up. I called back. At this point I was very frustrated and asked to talk to the manager. The same girl as before informed me she was the manager. She told me I needed to come back, in person, with the receipt in order to get a refund. I told her that I can't do that right now and asked what time she works until so I can get there while she is there so I didn't have to explain the situation to a new person when I arrived. She refused to give me that info. So, as to not miss her being there I headed right there. It took me about 45 minutes to get there due to traffic. When I arrived, with my receipt, the young girl who said she was the manager refused to give me the refund starting the way I talked to her on the phone. Let me perfectly clear. I was not rude, I did not curse, I did not name call, I did not threaten anyone, and I did not say anything to warrant this. I was upset. With good cause. $25 worth of food was missing from my order and my time is very valuable. I did not deserve to be treated this way. I was owed an apology for the mistake and up until this point I had not received one from her. If your employees expect to be treated with respect, they should show that respect to their customers. I was told to come back with my receipt and I would be given a refund. I did this and then she refused to give me said refund?!?! No. That is not acceptable. That is theft.
At this time I asked for the general manager. He was much nicer and issued a partial refund for the items that were missing. I am partially satisfied with this outcome. I was greatly inconvenienced by this whole transaction. I SHOULD have been refunded for my entire order as compensation for the time out my day and gas it took me to come back. Furthermore, as a business owner, I would want to know when my employees treat customers poorly. Is this your store policy to allow managers to treat paying customers like this? I don't care if I am a customer as McDonald's or a 5 star restaurant. I expect employees to be respectful. Your employee, whom is the manager on duty was rude, indignant, and non apologetic for my trouble and her mistake. This is unacceptable. read more
