The service is spot on. The food is... Well, it's McDonald's for heaven sake. Why are you asking me for a review of McDonald's? Does anyone really need a review on McDonald's? It is what it is. It's the same cheeseburger and french fries that you've gotten all over the world exactly the same cooked exactly the same way. It's the tightest run ship in the business. They're famous for their Coca-Cola being better than every other fast food place and that's true here also. If you don't like McDonald's, this one isn't any better if you do like McDonald's this one is just fine. The flavors will not surprise you. It's good enough for what it is. I do wish they had kept the fried apple pies, however, over the baked ones that they offer now. The originals were pretty spectacular. These are just OK. I ordered from the kiosk at around 10:20am. It did not give me a receipt . After waiting, I went up to the front counter to inquire about my food. Multiple employees claimed there was no record of my order and therefore, I would not be receiving any food. The computers strangely scrubbed any data pertaining to my order. I offered them a choice: either give me what I had ordered or I would post a negative Yelp review. You can probably tell which option they choose. We only started eating at McDonalds about a year ago when we were traveling. Over that time, one of the things we have noticed is the food is fairly consistent in quality and taste. So, what sets one McDonalds apart from another one? The customer service! We found the employees here, to be very nice! At a lot of McDonalds, they try to avoid taking your order and point you to a kiosk. Not at this one! When we walked in, there was someone who came over to the register and asked us what we would like. Quite refreshing! Also, they were really busy, and the empty tables were dirty. So, we went over and asked for a towel to clean one, and the employee (we think the manager) came right over and cleaned it for us. They also went and cleaned others tables after ours, which we didn't expect. Overall, the food is what you would expect from a McDonalds, but the service is great read more

Visited at 9:30am on Sunday, October 5th. Every single table was filthy, crumbs, spills, the works. Not a single customer in line, yet no one seemed interested in cleaning up the dining area. The practice at the Santa Cruz McDonalds on Hwy 1 was not customer supportive. They only serve burgers and the lunch menu AFTER 11:00 AM! The business of McDonald's is hamburgers! If they want to offer other breakfast items fine, but the serving of their lunch menu and burgers should be during ALL open hours. I was traveling long distance and pulled in at 10:30 AM to eat lunch....and could not buy any burgers or fries ! They said only after 11AM. I will never eat again at any McDonald's that has this policy. This is one of the better McDonalds I've had the experience of eating at. I finally opted to download the app and it's well worth the effort. Free items and better deals on food for example the buy 1 get 1 free breakfast item. Everyone is sleeping on their breakfast burritos and iced coffee. Best McDonald's I've seen. The worker Rubi is always very attentive and helpful to customers, seems to be in a good mood. The manager Ernesto is always welcoming guests and checking that customers are having a satisfactory time. While I am sure that many of the workers here are deserving, these are the two I have encountered the most and these men definitely deserve a raise or something. It can be difficult to keep your cool in a fast-food restaurant, dealing with the pressure of the fast pace alongside disrespectful customers, but these guys are going above and beyond in hospitality. read more

I mean it's McDonald's so the food is what it is and you get what you expect, but this isn't about the food, like others have mentioned this is all about the staff. I'm doing a lot of work on my house and don't currently have a kitchen and come to this McDonald's way more than I should and every time I come here be it normal dinner time or midnight, the people working here are just excellent. This mcdonalds closes so early now! It used to be open late into the night but nowadays it closes at 11. This mcdonalds is fairly clean, but for some reason our party couldn't get our coupon to scan on the self ordering system. We ended up getting mcflurries fries and chicken nuggets. The fries were alright, a bit on the softer side. Nuggets were crispy as usual. But the mcflurries. The mcflurries we got were not "flurried" at all, as the oreos were almost all on the bottom, while the top didn't have any oreos at all. Fastest customer service I've ever had. Only bad part, my ice cream cone was $3.70. I personally find that ridiculous, but that's just me. I walked in, and someone immediately came to the register to take my order. I paid in cash, and directly after the man behind the register went and made my ice cream dispite there being other customers in the building. Honestly, I find it pathetic that I am writing a review for a Mcdonald's; no one will care because it's Mcdonald's, and people will continue to go. I am writing this review to say the manager who tries so hard to look like Tony Shalhoub with brown hair from Flamin Hot is extremely rude. I ordered through the app, and when I went to get the order in person, I patiently waited because I understood they were busy. I saw our food was ready but not placed out. Mr. Shalhoub looked at me dead in my eyes; I said excuse me, and he turned around and ignored me. After a few minutes, a lady comes to pick up an order, and Mr. Shalhoub immediately assists her with her incomplete order and even bags it in front of her. We waited awhile longer, and the cashier noticed we'd been standing there, so he assisted us. All he did was grab the bags and hand them to us. Hmmm, not mmm, please read on. We came for breakfast and the entire restaurant was occupied only with older senior men, most of whom were were retired or looked to be unemployed. It was kind of strange, maybe it's this part of town? I'm not sure. Another strange thing was there was NO ONE at the counter when an older gentleman in front of me and I were both trying to order our breakfast. I ordered a couple sausage mcmuffins and a couple of egg mcmuffins (the app no longer has bogo free on the latter, only bogo for $1, boooo) for my little family and amazingly the food came out pretty fast even though the staff were not even there to take the order at first, so very under staffed, and intentionally so I suspect. In any case, we started eating and the food was just OK, not great not terrible, regular McDonald's breakfast sandwiches. The place is remodeled which was nice, but the ambiance wasn't there (even by my standard of what a meal at McDonald's should be like). Also staff was kind of dismissive and/or non existent so we didn't order more food even though we were still hungry and ended up going down the street to check out the Burger King, so please go read my review of that establishment if you're so inclined, lol. ;) read more

This McDonald's is definitely the best McDonald's there is!!!! The food here is super bomb they make it right when you order it. The smoothies and all drinks are made to perfection. The service here is absolutely terrific especially a worker there named Benjamin (not me of course), he is always helpful and quick with all his orders. Tables and chairs are regularly wiped down and they get rid of fries and other foods after a certain period to make sure all foods are fresh when ordered. Definitely one of the better fast food joints in Santa Cruz. read more

I came to McDonald's to do to get some lunch. They were very busy because of memorial day weekend. Everyone who works here is well-mannered and polite. A man named Danny helped me with my order 192. I wanted my hamburgers a certain way. He entered the order correctly and it was prepared correctly. Other fast food restaurants have made errors in the past, not knowing how to enter custom orders,,but not this McDonalds. They did it just right.
