So today, in Romas, I was ordering my second pint of the day, and I asked the supervisor if I could go to the other side of the bar to get it cheaper and bring it round to this side of the bar (the food side, as there was no room on the other side). He replied that he'd rather I didn't, so I said, ok, we'll do it your way this time, but we can do it my way next time, it's a good compromise. Once he'd served me my pint he said to me that it was my last one. I asked him why, and he said that he just didn't want to serve me any more. I then asked him if I was banned for good, and he refused to answer. After several attempts of trying to get an answer, he said that I wasn't barred for good. I tried to get a reason to why he wouldn't serve me any more drink, and he just replied that he didn't want to. I asked to speak to his manager, and he told me that he was allowing me to drink this pint, with the implication that if I caused trouble he wouldn't. I said that I didn't want the pint but did want to speak with his manager. He took my pint and emptied it. The manager, a short plump middle aged lady, with dark hair, came round from the other bar, and queried if I'd been barred (which I hadn't as I am only visiting newtownards from England to visit my mother who is in a nursing home). I then asked how I could make a complaint, to which she replied that I should write a letter. I asked if they had an email address, to which I was told that they did. I then asked 4 times what the email address was and received no reply. I was then told it was on your website. I feel that my treatment today has been very humiliating, for no good reason what so ever, and I am hoping for a satisfactory apology and retraining of your staff and management as this is well below proffessional standards. Made me feel that I was in the playground again trying to justify myself against a lot of unreasonable bullies. Absolutely disgusting customer service and complaints management.

This place has a great vibe overall, very spacious inside with lots to look at. Menu seems to have a little something for everyone. I decided on the tempura-battered cod fish tacos and they were really good, especially the chipotle ranch sauce (or whatever creamy spicy something was on them!).

The Regency Restaurant has an expansive menu of Panini's, baked Potatoes, Salads and Club Sandwiches. But it also serves the sweet as old people tend to have a sweet tooth, think Worthers Origianls. The interior of Regency restaurant is simple and classic and they seem to maximise the space they have with booths that give the place a 19th Century feel. Regency is one of these places that can be jammed packed but still quiet and you can sill hear your own conversations. The service is excellent, the staff greet you on entrance and cater to your needs perfectly. On a recent visit I had a Panini with Mozzarella cheese and bacon along with a fresh side salad and home made coleslaw. It was a perfect lunch cooked to perfection and delieverd within 15 minutes of ordering. Despite being the youngest person by miles I can not speak more highly of the Regency restaurant and found the staff, decor and food excellent, no wonder it has become the pit stop of the older generation. Coast is a favourite of many local Holywood residents and trust me these residents know their food. The interior decor is simple yet extremely effective, there seems to be a focus on what they serve rather than what the place looks like, not that it's shabby inside, far from it. It's plush decor stands the test of time. It's not huge inside so if you want to visit I would suggest booking, especially at the weekend. They have recently placed a few tables outside so alfresco dining is now an option. Food wise it's excellent. Being so close to the sea I would suggest opting for seafood and would recommend trying their mussels in white wine and garlic sauce along with fresh ciabatta, for dipping of course. Coast is fully licensed so you can grab a glass of wine to accompany your food - the wine list is pretty extensive. The staff are great, there's a good mix of experienced servers as well as those who are taking up part time roles between their studies but don't worry the service never changes - top class! Can't recommend Coast enough - the bill won't break the bank but you'll feel like it should cost more than it does!

But the pin striped, attentive staff managed to deal with the hoards of burger lover admirably. The whole restaurant follows the USA diner theme, red tiles, bold brash posters with American slogans and red leather booths. Right down to even the tiniest details this place is perfect - they have mini duke boxes (50's style) where you can pay 20p for your choice of song. Right on to the important bit, the food. The menu is full of tempting delights but I went for the Smokestack burger upon a recommendation. I have to say I was not disappointed! The Burger bun was soft and fluffy, the burger was meaty and the extras combination were sublime. The best part of the burger was definitely the 'secret' sauce - sort of like a vinegary mayo. I'm underselling it with that description. Burgers will set you back £6.45 but they are not small and you certainly won't be hungry after eating them. I loved Eddie Rocket's - the only tiny thing I would mention is that it took a while for us to get our food which made us rush eating it. I will put this down to how busy it was. The place certainly isn't understaffed. Top marks from me - there's so much on the menu to sample that I will have to make a trip back soon!

When you enter Eddies you can see that it is just like stepping into a real American diner and a great touch is that there is a juke box at every table. The food is great also. Waiting staff were excellent and the menu is huge with a vast selection of dishes, even plenty of veggie options - burgers, pizzas, pastas etc. I ordered vegetarian fajitas which were served with a side of fries, 3 fajita pancakes, a large sizzling plate of mixed veg (mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes) plus guacamole, sour cream and salsa. The guacamole and salsa weren't fresh, instead they seemed quite processed. But it was good food - not great - but filling, tasty and reasonable for the price. Our whole party enjoyed their meals. We also ordered dessert and the Banoffee Pie was absolutely gorgeous- though I did have dessert envy when I saw the Nutella Dough Balls some of the others ordered! Ginger, gin, beer and plenty of wine flowed. In total two courses, drinks and tips cost approximately £35 per person. A good night was had by all. This is a nice, casual, relaxed restaurant and I would return - but not with a large party as I dislike the insistence on a deposit and enforced service charge. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery.
