We made an oral agreement with an employee to kennel our two dogs for one night at McDonald's Kennel. Cost is $12 each a night. We dropped them off before noon on Saturday, May 15 (per their recommendation). We were told that the owner was out of town and they would be closed on Sunday, May 16. I asked if we would be able to pick them up Sunday. I was told yes and to call about noon to set up a time with the owner, since she would be home then. I called and she wasn't home. She returned my call about a 1/2 hour later and was told I would be charged for both Saturday and Sunday since we were picking them up after noon. I explained how I was told to call about noon to arrange pickup since she was out of town. She said that was her policy that an extra day was charged to anyone who picked up dogs after noon. I explained the situation and she said she didn't care what I was previously told. We would be charged $48. I feel this is a bad business practice and other dog-owners should be aware that this kennel will tell a customer one thing, go back on their word, and will double charge. I told her we would never use her business again. It took that threat to get her to only charge us $24. The sad thing is, we had been a repeat customer for several years. read more
