I cannot urge you enough to STAY AWAY from this location. We had just left the fairgrounds and decided to grab some food. This McDonalds is attached to a BP gas station. Between the drive thru line and the gas pumps, it was very difficult to park. As we walked in the BP, to go towards the McDonalds section of the store we were nearly knocked over by a man bolting out the door as he stole from the store. We walked into the McDonalds and it was completely filled with unhoused individuals and reeked of urine and bleach. We decided to leave and attempted to use the bathroom on the way out, but found another unhoused individual in the bathroom that yelled unpleasant words at us. There are so many other McDonalds locations in the area. Pick a different one than this. read more

I ordered on mobile app and was going to go in to pick it up but at 10:30. None of their doors were unlocked. So I joined the drive-through line I got to the speaker and the person was really abrupt and dismissive and I said that I had a mobile order and she said well it's inside. I said the doors are not unlocked. She said they are now. I said I would like to pick it up through drive-through since I was already there, I don't think I've ever received such horrible service at a drive-through. The food is what you would expect from any McDonald's but the speed and safety are what set it apart and not in a good way. The inside is closed most of the time so I've only gone through the drive-thru. Every once in awhile the line moves along but most of the time you are left waiting to order for three to five minutes before getting acknowledged. I left the line once after a person came up to my car at night and started banging on my window. There are a lot of people who hang around the gas station attached and are cordial but that scared me enough that I only go during the day. The manager or person working the counter inside yelled at everyone entering at 7:30 Pm saying dine in was closed. I went inside thinking it would be faster than the drive through. People had pickup orders and he yelled "the door is locked, DINE IN IS CLOSED" and cursed at customers during this. 7-8 people were inside waiting for doordash orders as well. If I could I'd leave no stars after this experience. I just got a $20 order for Uber eats. Which for anyone who does food delivery that's a decent amount for a single order. I Drove 15 minutes, just to get ignored at the drive thru. I called several times, tried going inside the gas station attached. No luck, although there were still McDonald's employees inside. With my order on a table waiting to be taken home by one of the employees. As they refused to acknowledge that I was there. Let alone allow me to do my job. Once we go to get our order, the lady is confused what we ordered. The fries are cold. I can say that the morning drive thru window workers are nice, however the food prep is terrible! This location will have the doors locked during normal business hours and tell you that they are only taking App orders when you go to the drive thru. 3/4 of my breakfast burritos had the paper wrapped into them. read more

I know that it's just a McDonalds so why review a fast food restaurant? There are all these negative reviews that this place is gross or the employees are rude or the neighborhood is bad. 38th St. sucks because jerks use it as their own personal racetrack, but the people in & around the restaurant are just people like everyone else. You're not too good to give someone a nod & a smile. Another note: I've NEVER had a bad experience at this location. Our order has NEVER been wrong. The food has always been fresh, the sweet tea is perfection as expected, and not a single soul has ever been rude. I live 2 miles from this location & I love my local McDs like a fat kid loves cake. (Though they did tell me once that they weren't serving breakfast (it was after 10:00 but before 10:30 on a weekday) but who cares? I haven't visited this location too many times just due to the area that its in. I've only gone through the drive through. it seems a little sketchy to get out of your car to go in to order, especially if you are a female. my most recent visit i just ordered a fry and coke and the service was quick. It definitely met my needs. This location is very close to my house, so the next time i have a McDonalds craving I will come here again, will probably only be during the day time. Often times I drive past and there are many people, mainly men kinda hovering the door to enter into the gas station/McDonalds. There have also been several times in the past month even when I drive past and there are police either just parked or are arresting someone. Just doesn't seem like the safest place to be. read more

This McDonald's baffles me. My office is just a block away, so it's right on my way into work. Over the past six months, I've stopped at the drive through maybe 4-5 times, and tried to walk in once, all around 845am. Every single time I've been told that I wouldn't be able to order. I've been told a different reason why every time - not open (says 24 hours? It's 845am on a Weekday?), payment processor not working, door dash only, no food right now, etc. It's just wild, most McDonald's are pretty on point, but this one just baffles me. Jamie and Gloria were super kind!! This terrible review is for the manager, Meggie. McDonald's did not have fruit punch, but they are connected to a gas station. I asked if one of the employees (Gloria) would go to the gas station with my money and buy a fruit punch, she was more than willing. However, her manager (Meggie) said she could NOT go get it. However, after waiting 25 minutes in the drive thru, with no one in front of me...a frappe machine was broken (hot mocha machine being cleaned), they couldn't fulfill the order. Yes, I got refund for frappe, but then asked for refund for whole order, since I'd go elsewhere for the drinks. It took another five minutes, manager needed receipt...Another five minutes to determine my order. I said this half hour was unacceptable, with nothing to show for the wait, manager told me he didn't care about any complaints. I'm so over McDonalds in general, and stopping here reminded me why I don't want to go back. Granny's always say if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. I just don't know how I could write a review full of silence..... Customer service not quite servicy, extra long waits, equipment not working, skimpy fries, sticky tables - yes, I could go on and forever on. This trip I came in for an ice cold beverage, and that's about it. I waited two minutes in the dining room line (drive thru was super long) that is normally one or two people. After finishing my order, the cashier took the receipt and crumbled it up then tossed it in the trash instead of handing it to me. For a moment I thought maybe there are two receipts, but no, he walked toward the back like whatevs, and I headed toward the soda fountain. A spray bottle and dirty rag were left sitting on the fountain counter, and the fountain itself was a hot mess. Napkins, lids, ketchup stains, and soda spills covering everything. I'm not sure what happened mid cleaning, but I moved the bottle over got my drink and quickly put a lid on it. Walking out the door through a group of teenage girls affectionately calling each other every curse word they could think of, I was definitely not coming back here any time soon. This McDs gets the food part right if they have your order correct. I'm not sure if it's lack of a full staff or lack of motivation there's just something missing here. The cashier ringing us up was very undertrained and didn't ring up any of our order as it was supposed to be, didn't even add all of what we ordered. Manager came to "help" AFTER watching the cashier mess the whole thing up, yelled at the cashier, only made the situation worse and refused to give us our entire order even though we'd paid for it on two separate tickets. She had the worst attitude of anyone I've ever had to deal with in a professional setting. Would not even give me the chance to speak without cutting me off. The food was cold too. I grew up not far from This McDonald's so I'm not now nor have I ever been scared to walk in the parking lot or go inside lol ...sounds like some folks are scared of 38thstreet and urban areas. BUT I still will NEVER order from this specific location ever again ...or for a very long time lol When I tell you that I have never seen such buffoonery and lack of any sense of a piece of a sliver of customer service training in my life. We get to the drive thru at night which is just backed up. I order a sandwich and the guy acts like he never heard of it before- I reference the picture of it I'm looking at and he decides to correct me on the full and proper name that it's called since we left out one word that he surely had never even heard of before he learned some new linguistic skills from Ronald McDonald. So we wait in a slooow moving line. At The first window was I guess a manager cuz he was the only one not wearing a uniform but was in his clothes from home. But he halfway greets us at least. Then more waiting- and at last we get to the second window. Only to be ignored by some female in uniform (to call her a worker would infer that she worked) who was on her cell phone texting or googling what to do when bored at your job. She even looked up at us like she was annoyed that we watched her while on her phone. After a few texts, chats with other employees, she begrudgingly opened the window, no greeting, no apology, just the info that are order was gonna take longer and to park over there and wait in limbo. I declined and said we couldn't wait any longer as we had to be somewhere (which was true- I needed to go to Taco Bell or home to microwave something because i was hungry and had been waiting for going on 20 mins in this line) and if we had to park to get our food, we would like a refund instead. She said a refund?! As if I had asked to get it out of her purse. She closes the window, obviously talks about us to multiple employees and eventually the man with his clothes from home asks why we'd want a refund....trust me there was more. But the real gem of this story is after uniformed female gets back off her phone and punting in our direction to other uniformed people, she brings the refund followed by another uniformed supposed male with his head down and a food bag in his hands, he started to hand the bag and then said, nope they didn't want it! and these two ignorant, low trodden, shames to their mothers dance off and revel in their obviously done before performance ..and I mean physically danced off lol I couldn't do anything but laugh at them at the window cause it was so backwards and so unbelievable (like I would have been fired from every job I've worked doing half of what they did). The owner would only communicate through text and said it would be addressed - no free happy meal, not even a dollar coupon from the newspaper offered lol I'll let my stomach growl before I take one penny to that store again. Tried to go here for food today and pulled through the drive thru at 2:50 a.m....the lady told me that they were closed. I asked what time they closed and she said 3 a.m....I told her it was not yet 3 and she just argued with no explanation! On my way out I saw their sign that said 24 hour drive thru which made me even more angry so I called to talked to a manager who explained that they closed down at 2:45 a.m. for an hour every night to switch over to breakfast...which makes sense but the lady did not explain that to me. This place is a mess beginning with the managers. They are rude, aggressive, and SWEAR they know what they are doing. Crew members get no proper training so the service doesn't surprise me. You can get one drink and it will take you two hours or get 10 mcChicken in less than a minute. Always seems to be understaffed yet never hiring anybody. George and Marge are nice people but very cheap. General Manager has no say in what goes on. Shift managers leave everything up to the crew members.
