    Oreo McFlurries

Don't be fooled with that one star. I had to rate it. It deserves no stars. Extremely disappointed with my experience today at the McDonald's located at 1413 North Vine St, Hollywood, CA 90028. I ordered 2 regular-size McFlurries and 2 mini McFlurries, and both of the regular McFlurries were only about half full. What made it even more frustrating was that the regular-size McFlurries appeared to contain nearly the same amount of ice cream as the mini McFlurries, despite costing more. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, Miguel, and asked if they could be filled properly, he told me that the cups were filled correctly and that apparently everyone before had been doing it wrong. According to him, McFlurries are supposed to be served with the cup half empty. I've been purchasing McFlurries from this location for a really long time and go often since my kids love them, and I have never received one that was only half full. They have always been filled to the top or near the top. Paying full price for what looks like half a serving is unacceptable, and the explanation I received from an actual Manager was even more frustrating. It's not just about the ice cream--it's about customer service and accountability. Instead of addressing the concern, I was given an excuse that simply doesn't match years of experience as a customer. If the regular McFlurry is supposed to be larger than the mini, customers shouldn't be questioning whether there's any difference in portion size at all. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service. Managers are expected to set the standard for customer service, and unfortunately, Miguel did not do that.

Vine street was closed off for car traffic due to the cicLAvia bicycle event. Rode up on my bicycle and ordered an iced coffee on the app which offered a special. The cashier who didn't speak English very well thought I had ordered an iced coffee with half the cup filled with milk. I had her correct the order and the coffee was really good as always.

This was my first time at a mcdonalds in a long time. I didn't know what to expect but it was okay. I walked here, didn't drive. Probably a lot harder if you're driving this way just due to traffic. I ordered my food on the app and I didn't wait long. They had to replace the shamrock syrup so I had to wait a little bit for mine but they did give me a medium even though I ordered a small so no complaints. This seems like a standard mcdonalds, pretty clean when i came by. Tons of seating available too.

I ordered and paid for a large macchiato, but it was half empty when I got it. On top of that, there are no plugs to charge my phone. Completely unacceptable! Very disappointing experience. Not coming back to this location.

So getting back to Amboy...This vital burger spot was exactly like in all the other videos I've seen and it didn't disappoint. We got the DH, Amboy Burger, regular fries and truffle fries. That's a lot of food for two people and well worth the price. The DH is as big as you could imagine. They cook it medium rare, which I love...that beast of a burger was so juicy, they should hand out gloves when eating it or at least a 3" high stack of napkins! You have a slight dry aged taste to it, but I am partial to the really funky dry aged. I am talking 45-60-100 day dry aged steaks, but this was just as good for a hamburger. The truffle fries were massive and could easily feed 3 people, maybe 4. We got there just in time to get the corner booth table and watch the line get longer and longer. The Amboy itself was good, nothing special and it reminded me of Bob's Big Boy hamburger sauce, which was a good memory to get back to. I think the most unique aspect are the heavily, sesame seeded buns. They were very soft, but held up to the DH 1/3# burger patty very nicely. And another thing...It all looks exactly as in the other videos. The service was excellent! The cashier was so nice, patient and walked us through the menu. **June 2026: Saturday Late Afternoon Visit**…read more Amboy in Los Angeles had been on my bucket list for some time, so I was glad to finally get a chance to try it. I ordered the Fancy DH ($21), my friend got the Amboy Classic Single ($10), and we shared a large fries ($5). I was also able to try a bite of the Classic, and I really liked the fries with the ketchup bottle that had the narrow tip; it made the fries feel even more fun to eat, and I definitely enjoyed making little squiggles with it. The Fancy DH was very good and definitely lived up to the hype. It had a deep, savory flavor that reminded me of a really high-end steak, especially with the charred crust on the burger. The inside was moist and juicy, and the caramelized onions, provolone, and garlic aioli all worked really well together. That said, it was a very VERY heavy burger, and I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had split it in half instead of eating the whole thing on my own. After a few bites, it started to feel like a little too much. From the bite I had of the Amboy Classic, it felt more balanced overall, which made sense as a simpler option. Since I usually go for Asian food when I'm in Chinatown, this was a fun change of pace, and I'm glad I finally made it here. Overall, I think it's worth trying.

The place, with a cool vintage setting, was packed minutes after we got there and so the noise level jumped up to a 9 in no time. As for the food... Classic B'fast (eggs, hash browns, toast) was good but quite greasy all-around and on the smaller side for $15. The French Toast was nice and soft, with a strong blueberry taste and decent amount of berries, whipped cream, compote.
