This was the last stop for our "tea shop hop" To celebrate a friend. With most of us being cat…read morelovers, how could we resist? I had a delicious boba drink while we sat with the cats. There is a large table in the room. If I was still in college and without the companionship of pets, I would have happily paid the monthly access fee (equivalent to only seven days of single entries) to study there! We got a few of the cats to play with us including "Moonlight", who plays for keeps and had us giggling. I'm looking forward to surprising my daughters with a trip here soon! Two of the kitties are available for adoption. It would be nice if there was information hung up somewhere about them and how to adopt them (maybe I missed this?). Though please wait until after I visit with my daughters to do that... we already have three fluffbutts at home and have a hard time resisting others.

This place, from the taste of it already, went a little lighter on the sweeteners but still had enough of a touch that it tasted really good. They had other very delicious beverages that I also probably would have very much enjoyed if I hadn't impulsively blurted out the fish thing I saw.

It was well past 2 o'clock, and I try not to drink coffee after 11ish-o'clock, because it usually messes with my sleep. But I remembered the words of a man much wiser than me who once said, "I never sleep, 'cause sleep is the cousin of death," so I felt like a lil' iced coffee would actually be beneficial, in this case. No regrets. The iced coffee was great! I always forget about iced coffee when I'm at a coffee shop, because I just usually order a hot black coffee. I'm so stuck in my ways, sometimes! But iced coffee was a good choice in this situation, and it came with a little vanilla cream, which was unexpected but a nice indulgence. The Grind is located right across the street from West Virginia University. It was packed when I visited, and I imagine it is almost always packed, because of its location. But the people who work here are very efficient and friendly, and my iced coffee was ready lickety-split. I got my coffee to go, but there are some tables inside the coffee shop to sit and relax, if you wanted to. One of my favorite things about The Grind is that they have a confession box in the restroom. I left a little confession in the box, because it promised that the box was "a safe place to share what you can never tell a soul," and I felt that I could trust this random coffee shop in West Virginia with my whole heart. I left my confession there, and took my iced coffee with me and went on my way.

I've been to both of them more times than I can count and I've enjoyed many great conversations with employees and strangers at both locations over the years plus enjoyed some great live music as well. I've always been a fan of their tacos, wraps, and chips & queso, but I've had almost everything on their menu and I've never been disappointed by anything that I ate or drank. They have excellent lattes and cappuccino. Their vegan and vegetarian tacos are top notch. I came to this location right after they opened but I came hear recently a couple of times to enjoy several different IPA's, stouts, and porters plus tacos on Tuesday for their specials and nothing disappointed. The employees have always been kind to me but on a recent visit I had a great conversation with a girl but forget her name. Sorry! She was great! Food- chicken tenders and fries- kids loved it and talked about it days later. Steak Hoagie- wife and I split as we weren't exceptionally hungry and glad we did. Coupled with a side of fries, the portions are great for one or to split Beer- I had two different IPAs - chasing daylight and another one (I don't remember and the website couldn't remind me). Both were different from each other but equally amazing. If you're in Morgantown or driving through, make the slight detour to this place. If you like beer, food or great views, you can't go wrong with this place.

Our other two beer choices in the flight were solid too (Red Ale and Helles Lager). Typically cheesecake wouldn't be a go to choice with a flight of beer, but I'm not sad that we ordered it. It was so good! My only suggestion: I wish the sours were in four packs. I would have loved to have purchased some to take back to Northern Virginia to share with friends.

I had purchased a Groupon for mead tasting for a reasonable price: included 8 tastings, two free glasses, and a tour of the facility. Something low key to do, after arriving and driving all day. Ruthann, and her husband were equally knowledge on their mead wines, the honey history and how their business came to flourish. Don't be alarmed if you arrive in the earlier evening, and see no cars in their lot. The owners provide a number to contact, on the door and arrive shortly after if the place is locked. The tour, and explanation of the portion/ratio of honey to mead, and history of the building it sits in was fasacinating. Before being a meadary, the building history dates back to the 1930's. A true, hidden gem of a find for this southern hospitality area of West Virginia.
