The garlic mayo mixed with the garlic sauce is a fantastic dip for the fries!! You have to ask for the garlic mayo but all of their sauces are at the condiment station and you can grab as many bottles of the different kinds of sauces offered. The owners took the time to ask if it was for a special occasion, and when we explained that it was and why, when we arrived and were presented with menus, we were delighted to find that they'd been personalised to wish my in-laws happy birthday - made their day! The choice of food was wide - a good mix of traditional Black Country favourites as well as dishes that were a twist on the usual gastro pub fare - my mother in law, who is picky at the best of times, ordered fish & chips and was delighted that they were presented on a slab with the chips in proper newspaper - presentation is quirky, but excellent. Food was very well cooked - delicious. The only thing that let the whole evening down is the fact that there is no disabled toilet (my 80 year old infirm mother in law had the indignity of having to struggle to the ladies up steps and be taken in there by her husband/carer and helped onto a toilet) and for disabled access and exit we had to ask to be let in and out as they lock the only disabled access through a gate to "stop drinkers using the dining tables". All very well and good, but when you're making disabled people have to ask to be let in and out like they're children.... definitely not good. I'm aware that this is an older building, but we were seated at the back of the building in the much much newer extension.... can't believe there isn't a disabled toilet and that more care hasn't been taken to accommodate customers with disabilities. A shame, because otherwise, this place is excellent.
