Have used this place over 34 years since I first worked in Birdcage Walk. You can eat in or take away good quality fish & chips.

So happy to have a decent chippy two minutes from my flat! This place is super cheap but great…read morequality. A mini fish and chips and can of pop is £3.39. They almost always cook the fish fresh so it is hot with crispy batter. You have to wait around five minutes but I'd rather wait and have good quality than quickly have bad quality! Pizzas, chicken, pie etc are also available but I haven't tried them. The staff are really friendly and efficient. The prices are cheap. The food is good. Go and get some fish and chips!

Staying close to this fish place. I think it just opened this year and I couldn't find a review…read morefor it on Yelp. I decided to walk over and try for lunch. Found out when I got there it is take away only. I got the mini combination. A piece of cod, fries and can of Coke for only 3 GBP. Great value! The fries were average but the fish was actually the best I have had while in the UK this trip. I have tried it in several places and been disappointed. I personally don't like the skin left on one side which many places did. It can sometimes leave a fishy taste I think. There was no skin at Masons...the batter was very light and crispy and the fish was cooked just right. A+ Masons! The fries may have tasted better if I had eaten there....after carrying home they were not hot and that makes a huge difference with fries for me. They weren't bad...just not special in any way. He said the fries were a small order but it was a very big order for me....could have shared for sure. The fish was a nice size as well. I would go back....and probably will before I leave.

This is a dinky little chippy located on Cradley Heath High Street. It is sandwiched between the 'Spoons and the dentists, so you'd imagine that their core customers would be drunken pub-goers and people trying eat away their dental woes. But this isn't the case - Hooked On Fish is a popular lunchtime spot for shoppers and local businesses. I won't lie, the fish and chips from there wasn't some sort of celestial deep-fried epiphany. They were decent. I'm a fan of the fact that they will thrown in extra "batter bits" if you ask for them. (My husband has told me tales of colleagues eating bags of batter bits - hard core.) They do chicken and pork swimming in gravy, which I've never tried because it looks kind of yucky. But may I remind you of the batter bits, woo!

Now or rare visits back I cannot wait to tuck into Joe's finest. The secret is the use of beef dripping rather than the ubiquitous nasty veggie oil coupled with the fact that unlike so many other places, they keep cooking fresh all day so you don't get fish rotting in the heaters developing a suit of armour. The cod is top quality (there are various grades available to chippies, Joe uses the top). The only thing that could add to the delight would be to have them served straight on newspaper. That pleasure is denied us thanks to the usual busybodies. So, well worth a special trip or at least a detour if you're in the area. Joe also runs the chippie round the corner, Joe's Place, which is just as good.
