I will start off by saying how it is sad that I have to write this review since I really like McDonald's in general. Unfortunately, this location had deteriorated significantly in the customer service area. I came through the drive through a few weeks ago and ordered a large Double Bacon Quarter Pounder meal with extra salt, no onions, no pickle, and Diet Coke. On the screen the information was incorrect. I explained that it wasn't correct and asked that it be corrected. They refused and stated that they would ensure the food was correct. The window one person was abrupt and dismissive. When I got to the pickup window I asked if the burger was made as I ordered. He said "Oh I'm just going to throw salt into the bag." I asked for salt on my burger not just tossed into the bag. When I got onto the freeway my burger was clearly not made as I ordered it. The fries were cold and the drink was regular Coke not Diet! I immediately called the restaurant and explained the problem. The lady who answered the phone apologized and offered to replace my food on a future visit. She asked for my name which I gave. When I returned to collect the replacement food I again ordered the exact same food. I explained that "...I am on the list..." to the order taker. When I reached the pay window the crewperson stated that I "...wasn't on the list..." I asked to speak with a manager. The manager was even more rude. He refused to honor what I was told. I asked to speak with the store manager. The store manager "Nilu Prasad" who came to the window and rudely asked me if I had proof in the car who I spoke with on the phone. Of course this is an absurd nonsensical request. Sure I would have proof if I had my cellphone statement but I didn't have that in the car with me. She then said that is "over $11 in food, I will give you a Big Mac..." I wanted what I was promised not something else. I asked for her manager's (District Manager's number) she gave me a name and number. I called the number and I left a message. The person called me back and cursed at me stating "...oh sh**...." and hung up on me. I called the general McDonald's customer service number and left a message for a call back. I received a nonsensical email about it being too bad that my food was made incorrectly. I have left multiple messages with no reply to anyone at McDonalds. I am very disappointed. I stopped visiting any McDonald's that have the double order drive up line. It is very frustrating as people don't take their turn and if you end up behind someone who is slow to order, the cars in the other line end up pulling ahead of you. In my new location near Kent, I got my yearly Big mac craving. I went to the McDonalds at 22644 Pacific Hwy. S. The line was long and a couple of people arriving after me were helped before me. This is the worst McDonald's I have ever been to. We were on our way home from the airport and stopped for food. We were in the drive-thru for 45 minutes and they told us they didn't serve chicken sandwiches after a certain time. By the time we actually got our food, it was cold. Our fries were old and chewy. My iced coffee was vaguely coffee flavored water. They forgot to give us mayo after asking 3 times. And they gave us an extra coffee flavored water even though we kept telling them we only wanted one. I went to McDonald's at this location this morning and asked for a coffee with cream and sweet and low. I also asked for two sausage biscuits with cheese but without the egg. They gave me coffee without anything else I asked. The lady gave me cold McMuffins like that was close enough to what I ordered and paid. When I nicely asked them to correct the order, they gave me cold sandwich without the cheese and shut the window. First off, their speed is terrible. Waited 25 minutes in the drivethrough (and the drivethrough has no way to exit if someone pulls up behind you) but that's not why I'm giving the low rating. I work in food services so I know the struggle of being understaffed. I'm giving the low rating because 3 of the last 4 times I've been to this location they've gotten my order wrong. I've had missing items, mismade burgers, and even the completely wrong burger. I wised up and checked everything before pulling off, and the burger was mismade. The Des Moines McDonalds is awful! A few months ago they continued to serve food during a sewer backup! The odor was so bad it was coming out of the drive through window... When ordering, they are inattentive and you have to repeat things many times...they still get the order wrong. Often the McCafe coffee items are unavailable due to a "Down Machine"... They also use the "Go and park" too much for small orders. This is due to the lack of efficiency, lousy management. They can remodel but it does not fix poor service...Our community deserves better. read more
