I have had the good fortune of tasting their Truffle burger yesterday, and it is one of my top beef burgers. With meunster cheese, rocket, drizzled with truffle mayo - This burger definitely knows how to look after you. Their chicken burger on the other hand, was tasty but forgettable - don't get me wrong though, it was still very good. Order up with the dirty fries and you're set to be satisfied.

Rocked up on a Thursday and the line was already 30 deep around 645pm, so the wait was roughly half an hour. Not a fan of queues, but they're there for a reason. This week was the Truffe Burger, and I naturally had to order a double. This burger is supposedly the favourite one among the staff, so I had expectations but I tempered them too. The dirty fries were also on showcase, so had to order those as well. The dirty fries were decent, but whoever made them didn't salt them properly as the salt was distributed unevenly....mega salty in the middle and barely salted on the edges. Not sure I'd order these again unless they fixed that up. The Truffe was pretty good...I wasn't expecting it to be, but I had no qualms with this burger, especially at $13 for a double. The truffle oil with the mayo and cheese went well with the grass fed Tasmanian beef patty. Did I enjoy this burger more than the Bronx at Five Points? Yes I did...I'm definitely keen to try the Cheese Boogie and Fat Boy now. My only gripe (besides the fries) is that this place isn't the most accessible if you live by the CBD, but if you live by inner west you should by all means go.

All the chicken is cooked fresh on the rotisserie behind the counter and normally it doesn't take long for a fresh batch to be ready. The burger/wraps are also good, my go-to is the Anar/Nevano with garlic instead of mayo. There is seating inside and out, but normally we just grab it for take away. You can phone up and order ahead for a large order too, saves waiting in the small shop. There is street parking around the side too.

Some places we had been to and some were just full, so we were surprised to see Burgers on Broadway with some space available. The burgers were lovely, fresh and tasty, although they came in different sizes. We enjoyed it enough to say we would go back. The only gripes I would have in the ambiance of the venue. There was a potty mouth movie on the television in the restaurant (which they turned it off for us) where you need to up upbeat music. There is a cloth between the front counter and the servery window area from kitchen which takes away from the concept of the business. Traditionally American burger joints the burgers are places in the servery window and then dispatched. Having the cloth there made us think the kitchen must be pretty dirty and not well keep. And finally, the tables and chairs. They were just generic tables and chairs put around the place. Sadly, customers can move them, but this comes with a whole lot of screeching noise and a messy restaurant. Burger joints need booths and banquets. These things aren't enough to stop us returning, but some considered theme changes would make this place more authentic and better presented.

By the time the correct one came, I had two options, eat mine so it didn't go cold or wait and have it go cold. No offer to take both and serve us together. The waitress was more interested in chatting up some bloke outside as she paraded around in the shortest shorts I have ever seen. We opted for the medium spice level, which was a tasty cajun sauce. Speaking of Cajun, the fried Jalepeno poppers were a great starter and an even better share plate. They were huge and used fresh Jalepenos that weren't too spicy. But you must try the burgers. The dry aged t-bone burger is not only a cool looking burger with a T-bone as a crown, it was also super tasty. The use of the t-bone making this a fancy cheese burger with a nicely spiced, freshly ground meat patty, American cheese, ketchup, mustard, onion and fried onion for some crunchy texture. Due to the quality cut of meat used it's a little pricey at $19, but well worth it as it is a delicious burger. They were also advertising a Wagyu beef burger for $16, which seems like pretty good value. The Burwood Hotel has a nice comfortable modern dining space with friendly staff. They have also added a bit of excitement with some great American menu options, whilst still catering to those who love those pub classics. It is well worth a visit for a drink and a feed with friends.
