I can't imagine why this place has a low rating. Every year we go to other farms first to find a tree to save money, but always end up here. The trees are gorgeous. We bought a gorgeous fraser fir today, yes it was 138.00 but so was our tree two years ago , so they haven't raised their prices. Save yourself time and check this place out. read more

Literally the worst cut your own tree farm I have ever been to. Went the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2023. We have been going to a tree farm in Maryland for over 25 years, and due to time constraints we decided to try a place closer to home. Awful mistake. At first glance it looks like an organized operation. People directing traffic and parking. You walk through the shop to get to a loading station. You ride a hay wagon out to the fields. Upon arriving, they tell you which trees are in which fields. They then tell you you can only cut down trees with a price tag. We grabbed a saw and started walking up a steep hilly field. We were looking for concolor firs. In an entire field, there were literally only 6 tagged trees for sale ranging in price from $68 to $120. None of the "nice" trees were tagged. Zero selection. Disappointed, we walked to the other fields, to consider another species even though we only buy concolor. Several fields were "no cutting" fields for future seasons. We went Up a very steep hill and passed some of the most awful Charlie Brown trees I've ever seen. Just ugly. After searching more, we left those fields and passed a sign saying if you cut a tree without a price tag it will be $225. The sign had clearly been modified from $125 to $225. We asked someone why they only sell tagged trees. They said so they can limit the number sold each year. Ummm okay. Isn't that what the blocked off fields are for? In the end we spent the $120 but I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Just pitiful. read more

After discovering our local tree farm was closed this year, we looked on the internet and decided to try McCurdy's. Waste of time and gas. The trees were not nicely shaped and were way over-priced. We decided it was not worth the wait to go on the hayride to search for a decent uncut one. We ended up driving a few miles down the road and getting one for half the price. read more

My family went to McCurdy's Tree Farm the first time this weekend, and we had a great time! We chose to cut our own Christmas tree, rather than buying one of the pre-cut trees out front. They provide you with a saw (if you don't bring your own), and all of the information/guidance you could need on choosing the right type of tree (I think they had nine different species of trees). They had plenty of staff on hand that made sure everyone knew where to go to find what they were looking for, we didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes for a tractor heading into the field or back out, and they had our tree baled as soon as we had it out of the field. The longest part by far was us choosing the right tree. Prices seemed a bit high, but not unreasonable, and varied greatly with tree size, species, and fullness. read more

I have been going to McCurdy's for about five years. I have gotten their table top trees, Charlie Brown trees and once living in a house got a full size tree. I love this place!! The people are friendly and knowledgeable. There is little to no waiting in line for a ride or to check out. Lots of different species of trees and plenty of each species to choose from. The cut your own experience is great. I have seen no evidence of preplanting using pvc piping and they rotate their tree crop from year to year. We love this place and will continue to say good things about all their hard work. read more

This a beautiful Christmas Tree farm in York Co. So why the 1 star? Let me get to the good things about McCurdy's before I dish on the bad "thing." The trees are abundant and lovely, the shop is nice, they have beautiful wooden signs stating the true reason for the season and being a follower of Jesus Christ I had a true appreciation for them. The gentlemen loading our live tree were very helpful, polite and informative. While my husband paid for our beautiful live tree, he was rang up by a very rude "tree snob" (yes people they exist, GASP) We just bought a house in York and thought it would be fun to get a live tree and plant it, so our 3 children will see it grow through the years. Anyway this lady, laughed in my husband's face when he asked if the tree could be baled, and hollered about it to someone and then laughed at him again when he asked if it could be transported on the roof of our vehicle. As she handed him the receipt she said "the tree will only survive for 7 to 10 days indoors" dang well knowing it was a Christmas tree, another passive aggressive slap to the face! What is wrong with her? Is she a true Christian? Is she humble? Patient, understanding and loving towards her customers who put food on her table? Mic drop read more

I've been cutting my own Christmas tree every year since I was a child. It's a family tradition and one I hold quite dear. McCurdy's has taken that tradition and put a nasty spin on it. After a wagon ride out to the field and 45 minutes of walking through the farm we picked our perfect tree. When I knelt to cut it I grabbed the trunk and the tree pulled a trick from the Exorcist and spun 360 degrees... I'm no rocket scientist but this isn't normal. As i looked around, all of trees were like this. I sought an answer and one of the employees sheepishly admitted that they cut all of the trees in this section, brought them in from somewhere else and sunk them in PVC tubes and then covered their tracks with mulch. The whole freaking hillside was covered in a "fake" tree farm. I found the whole thing deeply insulting. As i walked around i saw employees routinely covering the exposed PVC pipes with mulch so we idiots wouldn't realize it was all sham. It was late in the afternoon, too late to find another farm. We cut our tree and added insult to injury when we paid a disgusting $90 for a 7 1/2 foot Frasier Fir. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

This place has gotten worse over the years and twice as expensive as anywhere else. Their quality is poor and they try to make it up with a wagon ride and a memory. We stopped going there and went to Goods this yea. Much better quality trees and no wagon bs. The needles on the Mccurtys trees start to fall within several days of bringing them home. My tree from Goods has not dropped a needle in the two weeks I've had it. Don't go to this place!! read more

SCAM SCAM SCAM beware . A big area of the available trees are actually pre cut trees that McCurdy buries the trunks in the ground. They stabilized the cut trees underground so that you think you are cutting a fresh tree but really you are getting a pre-cut tree that you are cutting for the second time. We didn't fully realize this until leaving, so I asked an employee who said no they didn't do that, but then when I questioned why there were wood chips all around the trunk areas of trees etc the woman in charge stepped in and said yes they do bury cut trees and added it was "for your convenience so they aren't so spread out" This is so ridiculous it is almost unbelievable. So we took a hayride, got wet kneeling on the ground to saw an already cut tree, then dragged it out through the muddy snow and paid around $80 for this experience. The tree is dry and I hope it lasts till Christmas. SCAM SCAM SCAM...I feel like a fool and McCurdy's should feel like the Grinch:( read more

Trees are VERY expensive be ready to pay $65 and up for any tree. Went there during the week and they measure trees w a pole. A decent tree will cost $78-$129. That's just ridiculous. I got my tree there in 2017 and paid far too much for a cheaper Fir tree I think it was $62 last year. This year we went out on the field and it averaged out to be $15-18 per foot for the Christmas tree. It's nice they put a big blown up snowman out front but not worth the experience or the money. We decided to leave McCurdys in Dillsburg Pa without a tree and plan to never go back. Toooooo High! Most families don't want to spend that kind of money! You'd get a better experience taking the kids to the mountains. Unbelievable. We ended up checking out Elickers Christmas Tree farm in Dillsburg. They have some very nice trees. When you pull up there is a sign that says $40 for trees. The trees we saw were 6' to 10' but we did not g back into the fields. There were really nice Douglas firs, Spruces, pines ect. We ended up with a 6' Colorado Fir that was perfectly shaped and smells wonderful. Very hardy tree. I recommend reading reviews on all Tree Farms before going. Elickers was great value and we left there smiling. All trees are $ 40 bucks. And they have some unique sprays with purple , white and blue sprayed trees if you're looking for something different. We had an awful experience here today. My family has been cutting down our own Christmas tree for the past 25 years and decided to try out McCurdy's. It was the worst. We were there to pick out 5 trees for my family and left without a single one. The trees are beautiful but way overpriced. We knew they would be more expensive than we've paid in the past and were prepared to pay more but we couldn't even find one we like that actually had a price tag. There was a whole section of beautiful Douglas furs roped off in a do not cut zone. And you better be sure to find a tree that is tagged with a price or you pay $125!! Some trees were marked with "Rudolph's Bargain Bin" but of course none of those were very good trees. I have to say my family was thoroughly disappointed. This tree farm seems to be trying to take advantage of the Christmas tree shopper by hiking up the prices on the trees they have available and only putting prices on some trees.
