We made the trip up route 15 from Virginia. We spent delightful hours in the cherry trees picking the most delicious sweet cherries!! The trees were loaded with ripe fruits. The ground was clear of poison ivy and we felt clean and safe. The Lee were plenty of ladders to assist us in getting the high fruits. We then also visited the blueberry patch and loaded up a few pounds of those succulent fruits! read more

We have been a long time customer at Boyers. 16 plus years we have been visiting. We love getting apples, potatoes, plums, pears, and lots of other things. They have excellent apple cider. Yesterday we went on our usual visit to buy lots of apples and other fruits. On the website it claims, "Our apple bins are stocked full with 8 varieties; plus we have Honeycrisp for sale! We have lowered our pricing in recognition of the surplus crop this season. Support your local farmers! " We were excited to get all the varieties!! We walked in and no one greeted us. They just kept doing whatever they were doing. A couple was sorting apples in the back. We started picking out our apples when we noticed the price. WOW! Prices skyrocketed!! Even the pears were outrageous. Our honey crisp apples were 47! Not to mention we got other items as well. The seconds even went higher in price. We had the front counter full of stuff even know the increase in price because we believe in supporting local farmers. We were ready to checkout and had to say so, even when the lady was standing right there at the register. We asked about when they will have the 50 pound bags of potatoes in cause we been buying them there for years and look forward to them. "they are in when they are here". Was her answer!!! I could NOT believe that! She was just nasty and rude. Plus we always was helped when we bought so much to carry to our car that was parked right outside the door. That done it in for me. We went up to pick apples; they didn't have quite the variety we were hoping for on the trees, but there are a lot of factors that go into that. We got about half a bushel ourselves from the orchard, then came back to the store and got a peck (and topped off our 1/2 bushel) from the bins. They had a much wider selection at the store, so we were able to get everything we wanted after all, and have the fun experience of picking our own. The staff were very nice and helpful, especially the cat. We went to the tasting room and got to sample a few things, which was fun. They have a limited selection of drinks you can sample, since they're only open a few days a week (so wouldn't be able to use up all the product they opened if they offered everything.) We chose two nice hard ciders to take home, and again, the girl behind the counter was great - very knowledgeable about her products, and waited patiently while we decided. We'll definitely go back when we're ready for more apples. read more

Visited Boyer's for apple picking with our two young sons -- 3rd year in a row. The experience of picking was good, but the checkout person was rude and ruined the experience for me. She said we overfilled the bags, yet there was no line on the bags saying don't go above, and are 5 extra apples really going to make or break an orchard! She also said we picked an apple that was not on the apple pick list, however we never received a paper or map saying only pick these apples; the apples looked ripe and our kids picked a few of them. Lastly, no "thank you" or smile after we spent over $100 on apples, mums, ice cream, tomatoes, etc. We'll be looking for another orchard next year as the same experience was had last year unfortunately, so it wasn't just a "bad" day for the staff. The gentleman handing out bags and instructions was very kind, and they do have a good selection of plants though. read more

I went up twice in the 2016 season to get White Lady peaches. They had plenty, out of all of them only one did not make it, the rest are growing fine. People were very nice and helpful. Going back up for the spring of 2017. read more

Went to the orchard with the family for pick your own apples. While here we had a great debate over which apples we should aim to pick in the orchard. Thanks to a section with apple samples in the store area we were able to decide on Fuji and red delicious apples. The kids enjoyed bottled root beers and fresh ice cream cups. There are fresh cider samples and plenty of jugs to buy to have at home later. I have a thing for collecting hot and spicy items and the salsa and sauce selections were good. The whole family enjoyed sitting in the gazebo and reflecting after our walk through the hedge maze. Not too difficult but a nice change of pace for us and the kids no charge either. We finished by buying a few healthy looking mums and some corn stalks to decorate our house for the fall. read more

Fun time apple picking and nibbling on local produce! Came here with some friends on a weekend away and we filled out baskets and bellies with delicious apples. The homemade cider was so tasty and I'll be snacking on apple chips for days. The hedge maze was very fun (and challenging)! I called and spoke to the landscaping manager about trimming my shrubs and I wanted to get an estimate on having pavers laid. The landscaping manager gave me an appointment (date and time) for her to come to my house then the day before that appointment she sent me an email telling me that there are no openings for fall landscaping maintenance. I first didn't know who the email was from as it had no company name and it was sent from her personal email. She also said that she attempted to call me but couldn't leave a message because my mailbox was full however my mailbox was completely empty and I had no missed calls on my phone. Clearly she just wanted to avoid talking to me over the phone. The landscaping manager should have checked the fall maintenance schedule before giving me an appointment. Also, I never told her I wanted the pavers put down in the fall. I wanted an estimate on the pavers but I had no intention on having the pavers put down until spring. That was a BIG MISTAKE on her part because I called another company how sent a representative and gave me an estimate of $24000.00. Big mistake. Yesterday, my husband and I noticed the people parked next to us were also leaving without any plants... for the same reason we were: No one would help us find what we were looking for! There were employees everywhere, but they scattered whenever a customer came near. So we eventually took the hint and left. The last time I was at Boyer's, the experience was so different! I got great advice, and even a lesson in how bare root trees are harvested and maintained until planting. It's always a beautiful drive. read more

Purchased roses and shrubbery for our yard. However when a few of them did not survive, they would not honor the replacement guarantee. We had purchased from them in the past and had no issues. The person we spoke with was rude and condescending. We will never purchase from them again. Buyer beware!! read more
