And if you like good pistachio ice cream, I've had pistachio ice cream many many places, but they had the most whole pistachio nuts in their ice cream and any place I've ever seen in my life. They have very tasty ice cream, dogs, and tap water! The staff was friendly and patient with us. A good time was had by all at the mini golf course (except being beaten by an 8 year old). We witnessed a most extraordinary spring "dance" by the male peacock - even though the females weren't impressed, the humans were. So on a scale on 1-10 the scariness level for me for the haunted hayride and the haunted houses was a 1. I didn't jump much other than loud noises at random but I found this more entertaining than anything. The first stop for the hayride was seriously lacking a "set the tone" scare factor. Not going to spoil what happens but the people need to get into character more. The section where we got boxed in a barn was my favorite part, hearing System of a Down play over the speakers was one of my favorite moments of the night. Overall the hayride was meh. Decorations were definitely the highlight of the ride other than my statement above, from my understanding it use to be longer. The haunted houses was much better, but, only two people inside there really made the effort to do their "job" and stay in character. I spent more time talking in a high pitch elmo voice to everyone to entertain myself and the three others I was with, although one was jumpy majority of the time in there. The wagon we went one was the second to last to go around 10:00 so maybe people were tired, but opening weekend everyone should be thrilled to spook a bunch of strangers. If I didn't work nights I would volunteer to work because I know I would have put more effort into tonight. I feel bad giving two stars for this experience. I bet the farm itself is great and as someone who is a supporter of the FFA and all things agricultural I would probably swing this to four stars. But for now the haunted hayride is not helping the cause for a better rating. read more

My daughter and I decided to stop to have dinner here yesterday with some family......very sad and downright disgusted to see the state of things. The pond area.....TONS of dead fish floating in the water. There were also MANY half rotten fish up on the rocks and on the woodchips. The smell was absolutely awful. An empty tortilla bag was floating in the water which was also a sad site to see the ducks and fish swimming around it. No way that the staff didn't know about this, and no way was this a "happened in 24 hours" thing. The rabbit hutch that used to house the rabbit has a pile of rotten veggies with a million and one flies buzzing around. We got there at 6:30 anticipating we would be able to eat but the grill was closed so...over half the menu items were not available. Pretty disappointing as the place didn't close for another two hours. Two stars because they have added a few items to the food menu and everything we've tried so far has definitely been delicious. read more

Came to this place today with my girls. A place for kids. I'm the wagon rides to the pumpkin patch. All the adults uses the F words and B world constantly. Then once we got off the wagon. There was a fight broke out. All the staff laugh and was having a ball with the fight instead of getting people to break it up. Kids was around these adults who are fighting. Thought this place was kids friendlys. Guess not. read more

Gruff , unfriendly service here, with the older woman at the counter taking orders not wearing a mask, despite signs all over requiring their use. She gave us a sour attitude the whole time we were there, and basically scolded us for ordering. She leaned underneath the plastic partition and asked me to come closer so she could hear my order but without a mask on i did not feel comfortable doing so, so I just raised my voice and she still leaned under the partition to take my order. No regard to safety or mandated protection protocols. The huge sign outside the "petting zoo" says they don't believe they should be asked to wear masks but I guess because we have to, they require them, but only because it will get them shut down if people don't wear masks. Several people outside were feeding animals bread and other trash and not a mask was to be seen and no social distance was observed or enforced. No trees or grass in the animals enclosure and too many animals in too small a space. Again, they were all being fed trash by the customers there and no one from the farm was there to stop them. read more

Every year I take the almost 2 hour drive to come here for their "fear on the farm" event. Normally, it is well worth the trip and is a lot of fun. This year was a different story. Not only was the "hayride" extremely rushed this year, the actors didn't care much, and there were so few of them, it was almost empty. The haunted house had maybe 6 actors, but no one did anything. In previous years we have needed to get vip tickets due to the multiple hour long waits; but this year there was no line; probably due to how poorly it was put together. NOT worth the almost $80 for 2 people for the event. Not worth the money for the tickets or trip to the farm this year. read more

My rating is based on the experience I had today. I love McCrays Farm. I grew up in shadley and have moved to a different state. I visit my parents a few times a year. When I visit, I always come here to feed the animals, buy ice cream , and be nostalgic about my childhood. Usually I find the high school and college kids fine behind the cash register to deal with. But today there was an older woman with white short hair who was so aggravated with everything I said, that I felt like fleeing. I was looking for cream. Couldn't locate any and so asked about it. Apparently there was no cream and the bottles that I thought were cream were milk. You would have thought I was destroying this woman's life at how exasperated she acted with me. And to top it off, I recycled an old bottle and was chastised not to bring in the top with it next time. I hope I never run into this woman again. She will ruin my love for this childhood place. read more

Ice cream is pretty bad, tastes watery and flavorless. But that's not the worst part. I have been on farms plenty of times in my life, and have friends who grew up on dairy farms. When I described the smell to them, they agreed it's not the smell of a well kept farm, that it is the smell of animal waste not being cleaned up or processed properly. It is a sharp ammonia like odor that you smell before you pull up and stays with you after you leave. Most farms I have been on have the low earthy smell-where you can tell there are animals there, but it's not overwhelming. The acrid smell is quite honestly overwhelming, and I don't know why anyone would want to eat near it. It smells and appears like the animals environment is not tended properly, I am sure the pond is more or a cesspool at this point. If that's how they tend to their animals environment, I worry for the animal's well-being. By no means do I want to eat at this place. read more

My boyfriend took me out to McCray's for ice cream, a place he has been going to since he was a kid. When we pulled up, I was instantly in love. Farm fresh ice cream, animals, mini golf, in a beautiful country setting? Yeah!! Then I got out of the car. Whoever is in charge of cleaning up the poo, has been slacking on the job. WOW. Now, I realize that farm animals come with a fragrance, but this was intense- and it's not like we were trapped in a closed barn with them. This was open air, people. Yikes. Fortunately, the ice cream/food counter is indoors, where you can be protected from the odor of pig crap while eating. I'm pretty boring when it comes to ice cream and always order the same thing- Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip frozen yogurt- theirs was quite fine. My sweetie was very happy with the two flavors he had in his small cone, and the girls behind the counter certainly weren't shy with the serving size. They have a nice variety of flavors, monster sized waffle cones, something called "ice cream pizza", and all kinds of cute looking cupcakes and baked goods in a case. They also serve burgers, grilled cheese, stuff like that. I'll bet it's an adorable fall destination as well. This place is cute as hell, but for god's sake please improve the maintenance and care of your animals. read more

We drove an hour to visit this attraction since it calls itself a "Scream Park" expecting to at the very least be entertained and watch my kids get scared. To say that the hayride was the best part is actually pretty sad. One of the characters, if you can call them that, was putting his mask back on as we stopped at his station. And when I say mask I mean $10 party city mask, and thats the whole costume for many of them. We got off the hayride in hopes that the haunted houses would be better. Unfortunately they we much worse. Alot of time spent walking through dark plywood hallways with little to no decorations, haunts kr scares at all. Oh and watch out for all thr divots in the ground or you'll find yourself nursing a sprained ankle as well. Hopefully he can not delete my review from here because he seems to delete every review that does not agree with how he feels on facebook. My group personally spent $360 in total to visit this attraction, we bought the vip, so that we did not have to wait in the 4 hour line, so you can only imagine how much money he is raking in. As soon as we came back we wrote him an email stating we were extremely disappointed and would not write a review if he would respond, which he did not. Also wrote him a facebook message which he so did not respond to until my wife wrote a comment on his facebook page, which he did not like and has promptly deleted. Be aware, not worth the money and the owner is a bit of a thief in my opinion. read more

Lots of nostalgia when I visit McCray's. Been coming here for years, first with my children and now my granddaughter. Always nice to see and feed the animals. Was nice to see they took out the old play castle and put in a sand/swing area which my granddaughter loved. The area is neat and kept up. Lunch is reasonably priced. The hot dogs were good with toasted rolls with your choice of condiments. Comes with pickles and chips. They also have mini golf and Haunted tractor rides for Halloween. For the haunted hayride it was absolutely horrible they had everything unorganized when we got to the front of the line to go on the hay ride a older lady came up to us to put our mask on properly very rude and sour and she was mentioning she had a bad day which that had nothing to do with us my friends mask was a little big on her so it kept going down but she kept putting it back on and she came to us saying we need a babysitter and escorted us out not to mention she touched my friend and the cops didn't seem to care and there was no refund! Opening night of haunted hayride, the system crashed. Totally understandable. What wasn't acceptable was the lack of covid guidelines being followed. No measures in place, people are packed onto the ride. All rules went out the window when they became overwhelmed. Hundreds of people shoulder to shoulder in line, and they will kick you off the premises if you request social distancing or a refund. read more

I was really shocked to see all the poor reviews for this place, because we actually had a great time at McCray's Farm. We chose it randomly because we wanted a place to pick our own pumpkins. When we got there, the place was totally swamped with children everywhere, but it was almost Halloween and I guess parents were trying to get pumpkins before it got too late. The huge numbers of parents and children made the staff members seem a little terse, but that was totally understandable. The hayride, which cost $3/person, was pleasant and I loved just being able to sit and ride along, looking at all the beautiful farmland. There were so many pumpkins to choose from, which was a relief because I expected to have to settle for a smooshed-up, gross one since the place was so busy. I also expected to be charged a stupid amount of money for the pumpkin, but was pleasantly surprised when the somewhat large pumpkin we selected was only a few dollars - significantly less than what you'd pay at a store. The ice cream in the creamery was fantastic. Many people have complained about it tasting watery or artificial but my ice cream was firm, flavorful, and had that awesome creaminess that only homemade ice cream has. Not too expensive either, and they give you a ton of it. I wasn't sure how I was going to finish it. But you're darn skippy I did. We also took a look at the petting zoo, which was fun. They have a pond of ducks and geese, and separate pens with goats, sheep, and a mule. There were also chickens, rabbits, and pigs - although I did notice the pig pen was set up in such a way that you couldn't touch them, I guess because maybe they were bitey. I did not notice a particularly strong smell of animal waste, either, but it's not like I've spent much time on farms so maybe I just couldn't tell it wasn't the norm. Or perhaps the smell was covered up by the 5,000 little brats running around. I don't know. Regardless, we had a great time anyway. Didn't try the mini golf or the haunted hayride (I was with a scaredy cat; that is, my partner) but if you're looking for a place to see some cute animals, pick a pumpkin, or get some tasty ice cream, I would totally give it a go. You have to pass another dairy farm on the way there (although the name escapes me) so I guess if it ends up being a total bust, you could just hit that on the way back. read more

Fun place. Only got pumpkins and fed the animals, which were very cute. I've heard the haunted hayride is great. However, I was very disturbed to see there was a goose impaled with a hunting arrow swimming around in the little pond. I asked one of the workers and they said they called the authorities 3 weeks ago but they still haven't come. This was absolutely shocking to see...I saw a little girl start to cry when she saw it. I'm glad the goose is somehow managing but this animal needs to be saved. read more

We love McCrays! We live in South Hadley and I take my four year old daughter to McCrays about once a week to purchase their milk and dairy products. The milk is not certified organic but it comes from beautiful, grass-fed, healthy cows and straight from the farm it is as good as it gets. I feel great giving my family these dairy products knowing that they are locally made from an awesome farm. Also, gallon of milk from McCrays is much cheaper than buying factory farmed grocery store milk that has tons of hormones and antibiotics in it. The cream is delicious and we also buy their ice cream. McCrays has a small area where kids can feed and pet the farm animals. They sell adorable little ice cream cones filled with animal feed for the kids to give the baby goats and ducks. They recently remodeled their ice cream shop and sometimes my daughter and I have lunch there before she goes out to feed the animals. In the fall we take a hayride through the farm and pick our pumpkins. It does get much busier during this time of year so I might plan ahead if you want to participate in the fall activities that they offer. I was annoyed at other posts on this website which commented on the smell. It is a small, New England, family-owned dairy farm and, like any farm, there is cow manure on the premises. Get over it. It shouldn't bother you that much unless you were confused and thought you were going to Yankee Candle but somehow wound up here instead. read more

What a piece of trash! Haunted Hayride is the WORST I have EVER SEEN!!!! Actors are bunch of punk jerks who don't do anything. Props are just hung up in random places with no relevance to anything. Line is way to long with nothing to entertain anyone. The parking lot attendant and ticket takers and owners couldn't be more rude or insulting to their customers. You looking for pumpkins and ice cream? This place deserves 5 stars because you can get pumpkins and ice cream there? Tried to go to the haunted hayride one night. Parking attendant was rude and so was the cop directing traffic. Girl tells us it's a five hour wait. We decide to leave and pull into the field where we were told to park, and it's all mud. We were stuck instantly and were spinning out along with everyone else. Five guys finally pushed us out and we left. Our friend slipped and fell into the mud. The parking attendant told us if we made our own row it would really piss her off. We never made it inside and just left with us and our cars covered in mud. We were never told to be careful of the deep mud or anything. The place sucks! read more

I come here about once a month with my 2 year old daughter. The ice cream is really good, especially on a hot day. You just have to remember that this place is a farm and it's going to be muddy, dirty and smelly. You can feed some of the animals, which is always fun for small children. The geese can be a little moody so watch your fingers, and the llama does like to spit on you, but seems to single out certain people. The hayride and pumpkin picking are always fun. They do drive through the haunted hayride area so if you have really small children then you should distract them because it can be frightening for them (My child seems to love it.) If you are coming here any time during the winter months or after there has been a rainstorm then you should wear boots because it gets very muddy. That being said they do need to clean the place up a bit. More gravel in the small parking lot, and it wouldn't hurt to add more wood chips to the walking area through the animals. The bathrooms need the most attention as anyone that goes in there with anything less than a bottle of Bleach is a very brave person. The interior of the "restaurant" area could use some TLC as well. It does get quite muddy in there at times and could really use a remodeling job. Let me stress that this is a really good place to take small children to pet/feed animals and get some really good ice cream and other dairy products. read more

So I drove up here all the way from Bristol, CT last night for the Haunted Hayride. I thought the Hayride and the Haunted House were pretty cool except for the staff member that was on our hayride with us. I understand things like not taking pictures and swearing, etc. Once she was done with her speech about using no electronic devices I decide to put my phone on silent. I didnt even take the phone out of my hoodie pocket and she comes over and threatens to throw me off of the hayride if I dont hand over my phone immediately. I've been to McCray's a few times now and it definitely doesn't disappoint! Went on the pumpkin patch hayride with a friend and Robbie was awesome!
