Wish I had come here sooner! I didn't realize I had such a gem in my neighborhood (though I rarely drink so that's part of it). My friend and I met up here to catch up and also "celebrate" our birthdays. I love the local, old-school vibe of McCoy's. It was a very chill Tuesday evening. The bartender was incredibly nice and attentive. We got there around 9pm and stayed until about 1am and sat at the bar. The other customers were equally nice and it was the perfect environment to catch up with an old friend and ring in our respective birthday and half-birthday. I like that they have hooks to hang up your coat so you're not just sitting on it. They have a nice selection of whiskeys and beer, so both my friend and I left happy. I see a few reviews that say to bring cash, I can't remember if we had an issue with that, but I'm pretty sure we paid with a CC. Though, bring cash just in case! read more

A locals bar to the T, McCoys feels like you've been there a million times even on your first time. It's a narrow bar going maybe 100 feet back but it makes good use of its space. The bar is clean, floors aren't sticky, and the only bartender on duty is holding down the front while taking orders and running them to the back. There's barstools in the front and booths in the back for a more intimate gathering (if you can have one while drinking). They have TVs throughout so you can stay on top of whatever game is on at the moment and their beer/drink selection is solid. This is very much a no frills bar, you come for drinks and that's what you'll get. The mixed drinks were on the heavier side which is a pro considering the drinks weren't on the cheaper side. The beer was poured well too which is about all you can ask for in a beer. Again, this is a dive bar, don't expect too much but do expect a decent time. read more

Pretty relaxed place in HK. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at McCoys, which gave me old-school, local NYC vibes. Also, everything about the bar screams chill, but the pub did not disappoint with its array of beers and liquors. I personally went with McCoys lager in between my $5 Jameson shots. The prices for beer are pretty generous and slightly below the asking price for other bars in the area. Unfortunately, McCoys is a cash-only bar, but they have an atm (with a $2.50 charge) in the back. read more

OMG, I love this little bar so so much! Since our first time there 4 months ago, we went back around three more times. It is such a chill bar the prices are quite amazing for NYC. I have never not seen this place busy, so I cant call this a well-kept secret. The guy at the bar (Steven, I think, I heard someone call him - now I feel like an a** for not asking his name) was so attentive and warm. Limited beer list, good whiskey and other hard drinks though. They don't have a kitchen which gives you a chance to try the restaurants and the empanadas around the area. The only issue I have is that they have limited outdoor seating - like 1 table, that's it. So if there is a crowd like us, then sorry, you have to wait four hours at least to get that table lol. read more

Each time I come to NYC, I walk. I walk and look for interesting looking places and just go in blind. So it was with McCoys. Wife was getting hair done nearby, and afterward settled in for a pint of Guinness. Bartender Jeanette made us feel at home, and we discussed Ireland. More pints, shots, and Baileys later, we were wishing a joint like this was not in our hometown. We even bought two tee shirts, and can't wait to return! Laid back, good prices ( for New York of course). You are looking at around 3 to 8 dollars a drink for the average person ( beer and well whiskey) The bartenders and patrons are as talkative as you are. Imagine an Irish pub in Hell's Kitchen and this place is most likely what you imagined. I've seen rock concert t-shirts, business suits, and sports jerseys sitting next to each other all talking to each other about the Yankees game on the tv above the bar. I've seen Southern accents talking to British accents talking to Aussie accents talking to Irish accents talking to New York accents...I mean, it seems like the landing spot for laid back personalities rather than particular identities. Not a pretentious atmosphere...which is a good thing, I think. :) read more

Bar's fine...whatever, normal midtown. But an unposted $20 credit card minimum is unacceptable these days. Can't buy a G&T and a beer on a credit card? "Buy a shot of Jameson; it's only $7," recommended the bartender as the ice melted in my drink...you wanna be cash only, fine. But then do that. read more

A must stop for a pint and a whiskey back. Old school Irish pub with the fastest talking Irish bar keep this side of the Atlantic. Steven was a real good guy. Makes you feel welcome. Customers were also friendly once they figured out if you were a wanker or not. Usually open late, but with COVID they are following the rules. read more

Absolutely terrible bar. Told us "this wasn't the place for us" because my fiancé tried to order a water after I ordered a beer. Told us they got a "huge crowd coming in for the game" after the GreenBay game was already past halftime and the place was EMPTY. 0 stars if it was an option. read more

Waited for about 15 minutes and was ignored multiple times as the waitress made her rounds chatting with customers. I thought the service was lacking because of my skin color but after reading other 1 star reviews they don't like tourists. I'd question why anyone would support a business that's super sus. Fortunately, after leaving we stumbled upon a gem where service was excellent, blessing in disguises. read more

I just don't see the appeal. The walkway to the bar is far too narrow, but the bar is nice and long. The standing room does not exist, but the booths are nice. In the back there is one very large table which does it make nice for a bigger group. but who knows how early you have to get there to secure the spot. My friends were rude, but the bartender was rude back. I feel like this is a 'local' joint & if you don't frequent it much, your experience will be sub par. Plus Side- Someone famous comes here every Tuesday. I won't say who, but he's a pretty stellar dude. read more

Liked it. I wouldn't purposefully seek it out - I mean, it's all the way on 9th, in Midtown - but when in the neighborhood or after work, it's a real comfortable place to grab a few drinks. I hoped to drink my way out of a headache (from forgetting to eat all day only to consume half a bagel on the dirty streets of New York. Bleecht!), but I failed (that came after the $14 dram of Lagavulin at Central Bar). Anyway, let's get useful: - $4 All-day specials. - 11 flatscreens, 9 of which are very large, and they are all very strategically placed - which is easy to do, since the bar is basically a rail-road. - Pretty good jukebox with all the rock standards. - Chilled out bartender. - Kitchen open until 2am, bar open until 4am every single day. I can't imagine that this joint gets all that hopping - minus game days - but if I lived in the neighborhood, we may get along rather famously. I love an Irish pub. This was the place to go on a chilly night while we waited for a table nearby. Delicious Guinness and the atmosphere was casual but lovely. Not many people there at 7pm on a Saturday night yet, so we got a booth and hung out a bit. We wanted to go back after dinner but thought we should explore a few more bars in the area. read more

Dani is an absolute amazing bartender if you're ever in Hell's kitchen you definitely need to stop by this bar. I was having issues with my Wi-Fi and she was so kind that she let me use her phones hotspot so I could order an Uber to get back to my hotel. One thing to know though is it's a cash only bar so bring your cash and your thirst for good drinks. Highly recommend the margarita. read more

I was in the neighborhood and was unfamiliar drinking spot around here, so when i noticed this Irish pub, I of course went inside for a drink. It was a tad small but nice with excellent TVs on all the walls. They offered their own brand of ale. It was really good. So good, that i think I had about 5+ of em'. I'm not really a beer drinker except in special situations. The flavor/body of this beer was a special situation. A nice little spot with some good selections. read more

Great, cozy pub with a fun atmosphere and good drinks. Went in after 10:00 and the place was full-ish, but not so pack that me and some friends couldn't find some room to stand and drink. The barman's a really friendly dude who appreciates return customers and who can fix you up with some cheap yet GOOD beer (try the Black and Tan). He always plays good music. There's a couple of big screen TVs here and there that play some football games as you sip your drink. As with most bars, there's a minimum charge of $10 for using a credit card, so if you're only zipping in for a drink make sure you bring cash. However, the beer is pretty good so it probably won't be an issue for most people. read more

There's a long, narrow bar on the left-hand side when you enter and booths in the back. Hang your many Winter belongings on the bar hooks under the bar and/or behind you on the wall--such a nice touch. Order a McCoy's Ale, if you're wanting to drink off "the beaten path." The beer is good and the vibe is chill. The toilets are clean and not down some dark and scary stairwell. Thanks, McCoy's! read more

Let me just say that I'm never here of my own volition. McCoy's is OK as a backup bar or place to meet up, but after an hour or two I usually want to leave. Maybe it's the fact that their beer list leaves something to be desired. Even though it's a neighborhood place (or so my friends inform me) and not trying to be something it's not, I frequently find myself wishing it were (and recently forced my friends to relocate to Pony Bar at 3 am). On the other hand, many of its acolytes seem to be perfectly groovy with McCoy's. I also don't quite have a handle on the crowd here--maybe reflective of the neighborhood. I can't vouch for the food but my buddies have ordered it, so it can't be too bad. I will say that the bartenders have always been nice. Check it out for yourself. You might like it. read more

Service from the bartender was great. I ordered the fish and chips and a Bloody Mary. Everything was great up till then. Unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. Maybe it was a deep fat fryer thing, but I respectfully suggest the cook be given a little additional training. The fish batter was hard on the outside, and the fish was completely mushy on the inside. Like, gray mush. The fries were lukewarm. The mushy peas and the tartar sauce were served in little covered plastic disposable containers. I'm not a fan of that, but I get it is convenient. I truly wanted to like this place, and except for my one experience with the food, I would certainly return. People were having fun, and I did as well. I believe if they become a little more attentive in the kitchen, this place is a five star pub.

Nothing special, but definitely better than standard bar food-- plus they had some good vegetarian options, which was a nice plus. We were seated quickly, which was surprising considering how packed the place was on a random Tuesday. There happened to be a 4 top in the back with our name on it. Our servers were super friendly, the pints were fresh, and the atmosphere was pretty spot on for an Irish pub, albeit perhaps more tame than on a busy weekend. Really appreciated this pub!

It was very large and very fresh. Service was amazing as always! Had an Irish mule, a green tea shot, and a bunch of large magners(my favorite cider). Atmosphere is a good time. Happy hour until 7pm!

While I was visiting New York, my coworker back home sent me on a mission to find a specific Irish…read morebeer since they just got back from Ireland. Apparently this beer is not as common in New York, but there were a couple Irish pubs that still sold them on draft and luckily there was one nearby my hotel. Very cool place! It's easy to miss walking by but once inside there's a bar on the main floor, restaurants in the next floor and a rooftop bar several stories up. The rooftop bar is a huge open atmosphere and once seated you have about 40 beers on tap to select from. The staff is incredibly friendly as well and knew exactly what I was looking for. Would definitely come back to try more drinks!

It was incredibly uncomfortable and won't return. Ps it was because my boss bought for the table and was closing out and I couldn't add to the tab so I wanted to get one drink myself while they left. Horrible experience.
