Have time to spend before a Boardway show and walked around until we found McCarthy's Pub. The energy and vibe was welcoming as we walked in and we were seated quickly. The waiter was nice and helpful with figuring out what to eat. Of course we had to get the bangers and mash and the cornbeef sliders. The bangers and mash was amazing! The sliders were so good, a little dry but the flavor made up for it. I loved that they paired it with chips. I would love to go back and try other things from the menu. It was good! read more

Stopped in after a show. Food was amazing. The shepherds was so flavorful. I would've gotten a picture of the angus burger but my daughter devoured it. Servers were beyond attentive! We had two different servers checking in to make sure we were good. Highly recommend!! We will be back! read more

Only came here because I wanted Guinness and I needed something to eat before watching Oh Mary! The food...was okay. I got the Shepard pie and my fiancé got the Irish beef stew. They were pricy, but that's Times Square. The portions were pretty fair, but the beef in the Irish stew was dry and the ground beef in the Shepard pie was too tough. The potato layer was nice and soft, but overall I found the inside to be a bit too salty. read more

Made the choice (on our first night in NY) based on this very yelp page and the images of the Shepherd's Pie and Irish Stew. Let me tell you, they lived up to the hype! SOOOOO GOOOOD! Also, my picky 15 year old lucked out because the very kind staff made her an off-menu item grilled cheese with French fries to go along with her Shirley Temple Everyone was so nice and welcoming, the upstairs (open to the street) was such a fun vibe, and we truly just had the best experience! read more

When you walk in, you are welcomed by this lovely, cozy pub. The atmosphere is excellent and reminds me of when I was in Europe. The staff is fantastic and very welcoming. I got the McCarthy burger. This was my first time here which is wild because it's across the street from my job and pubs typically have great wings... and you guessed it, i'm a sucker for wings. Before a show, my mom and I stopped by this spot for some food. We were greeted warmly by the staff and taken care of the entire night. It was a very pleasant experience and the vibe was great in there. It was clean and made me want to come back for lunch when i'm working. I asked for extra crispy wings and for the buffalo sauce to be lightly added. They did it perfect. I was sooo happy i found a good wing spot. This is your standard multi-level Irish pub that you'll see in midtown/hells kitchen. We stopped in to grab a pre-show bite and to watch a soccer match. We sat on the ground level and ordered a few beers and some plates. The chicken curry with rice was pretty decent. Rice was a touch undercooked but the curry flavor was excellent, and I appreciated the generous portion, ample veggies and the fries on top. The flatbread special with salami was just ok. Not a flabread, but a more doughy mini pizza that reminded me of frozen pies from the grocery. Beer was good and the service was friendly and excellent. We were looking for a meat and potatoes kinda place for dinner with a couple of my non adventurous coworkers so we decided an Irish Pub would be good. They have good reviews except for the service. And we experienced the same. We were created with in a few minutes and seated up stairs. It took a LONG time before anyone came to get us a drink order. And it took even longer to get our drinks. What stumped me was there were three employees standing at the bar talking. Doing nothing but talking. I asked for a refill of water twice and never received it. The burger and chicken wrap were reported to me as good but not great. But the curry sauce was absolutely amazing. And I mean amazing. Luckily there is no shortage of restaurants in the city to visit. I would willing go back if they worked on providing better service. read more

Irish coffee was delicious and the presentation had a great classic touch. The French onion soup was simple but spot-on, with perfectly melted cheese on top. The atmosphere is fantastic -- especially with the Christmas theme, which really adds to the holiday vibe. Service was excellent and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Got a ton of food. And it's just ok. Got French onion soup and it's just luke warm. Did not eat it and still charged for it. The wings just ok but not great. The chicken fingers are like frozen stuff they get from a food distributor and just ok, not great. The best thing was the non Irish chicken curry. Drinks are good but every time you order they come in different size cups. Wonder if the 14 dollar drink is a single or a double. But they charge the same. It was not that busy when we ordered as it was around 5 to 5:30 PM. Can't get refills on water and for $200 I would expect better. And if you spill something go get your own napkins as they don't come to the table to help at all. If you want good food in 2025 you may want to try a place down the street. read more

I ordered a hamburger, the basic one. And my waiter seemed nice until I told him the burger was absolutely bad. I asked for a refund and to charge me for just the fries. I had LITERALLY, spit the burger out. He said he couldn't do that. I have never been to a place that couldn't do that. That is what set me off personally. I can't justify paying for terrible food that seems frozen or highly low quality. Only come here if you want drinks. read more

My hubby and I came here on a late night date in NY as it was nearby the hotel we were staying at. The service was so awful. We never really got checked up on and there were so many staff working!! We ordered our first round of drinks and the girl who helped us forgot to put it in. We were eventually able to get our drinks and food in, but were still hungry and wanted to order more food+drinks. So, we waited and waited and waited, nobody. Nobody came to grab another drink/food order from us. To top it off the manager came by and just took the menu without saying anything??? We were still using it. We got so upset at the service we received that we asked for the bill and it took 5-8 walk-bys until they paid us out. They saw the card on the table and still didn't pick it up?? This experience was one of the downsides visiting NY for us and we will not be back. read more

Five stars across the board - food, drinks, service, ambiance! If you're anywhere near Times Square, this place is a must. In the Summer they have fantastic outdoor seating. Rebecca at the bar is incredible, and Eoin keeps everything running smoothly and efficiently. There's live music after 10pm, traditional Irish fare, and a solid bar menu. We walked in on our last night in NY city and let me tell you. It was definitely one to remember. They had live music, the Ambiance was amazing, everyone was singing and dancing. Got apps and drinks. The Irish carbomb was delicious (Guinness and creamy whiskey shot). We got the pretzel and cheese sauce and onion rings. The pretzel was huge, perfectly salty, and the cheese sauce was so tasty. The onion rings were hot and crispy and we had a side of ranch which pairs perfectly. Servers were very kind. Also had a portable charger you can pay a few dollars to use which was so convenient for our dying phones after a long day in the city. Great! read more

The service was absolutely horrible. We said down & was asked to order immediately because the server was cut. They had us pay before our food was dropped. Once the food came out, we were never checked on again. The server didn't even check on us before she left. The bar tender was too busy chatting with the staff who had finished working & we're drinking at the bar. The Shepards pie was really good. Had we had actual service I would have left a much better rating. I would not go back due to the terrible service read more

I understand that this is normal protocol, but I pointed out my neck brace and asked if an exception could be made because it's significantly more comfortable for me to sit down (and there was no room at the bar). They said that their manager wouldn't let them do that, and that they couldn't seat me until the rest of my party was there. There were tons of table tables available the entire time and when my friend arrived about 12 minutes later, they seated us, I totally could've sat the whole time and it wouldn't have been a problem. Not the end of the world and I probably could've pushed it harder, but it definitely was a little awkward!
