I've been here twice and couldn't be more happy. The first time I brought in a broken gold chain. They fixed it for around $100. Was it worth fixing?YES. It was broken for several years. Now I can wear it anytime I want. Second time I needed to get battery changed on my fossil watch. $10. It was done less than 10 minutes or so. So well worth it. They are so close to my house. I would hate to drive further out just to save a couple dollars. These are nice people and I have no idea how they stay in business. This is a small 30+ years family business that walking into it feels like walking into a piece of history in a small town. So go find some broken jewelry and see if they can fix it. read more

I took my engagement / wedding ring from my prior marriage here to have it remade into something useable. It was a gorgeous Ceylon sapphire with pave diamonds in a halo setting around it. They did a wonderful job keeping the same center piece together and making it into a necklace I could wear. Great workmanship and they were able to separate the wedding band from it's soldering so I could keep that as well. Definitely recommend them if you need jewelry work done. I will never go to another jeweler again! After being overcharged and disappointed with previous jewelers, A friend recommended McCoys to me. I could not be more impressed. Initially, I took my ring in for a an adjustment that would have costed me $25-$50 elsewhere. The genuine and wonderful people at McCoys considered it a courtesy Job and did it for free. Every time I've gone in, they are totally kind and honest with you. Their prices are completely reasonable, and they will keep your jewelry in mind over making money. For example, they will tell you if something will not work, break easily, won't fit, or will damage your jewelry. I wish there were more businesses like this out there. This place is definitely a rip off. I had jewelry repaired here, cost me way more than it should have and everything they fixed, broke with in 2 years. I made the mistake of not asking how much it would cost to repair. I also traded in some of my gold scraps for the job and now realize they didn't give me near enough for it. I went in this week to sell gold & silver, just wanted to see how they compared to the competition, giving them a 2nd chance. OMG, they are still a rip off. They offered me 1/3 of what I got for my gold & silver at Cedar Park Jewelers. Jerry McCoy (the owner) came out with my quote and said "$181, can you believe it?" Like I hit the jackpot. NOT, he was gonna hit the jackpot if I sold it to him. I told him I'd like to take it some place else to see what they would give me, he shoved my items to me and said go have someone else test it and he walked away. I highly suggest you do not sell gold or silver here, much less let them repair any of your jewels. Price compare before allowing them to rip you off. Good luck. read more

When you're getting something like an engagement ring, you're either going to be over-the-moon about it or not. Happily I was the former. My fiance proposed to me with a ring that we had made at McCoy's. We went to the shop together a few weeks before to design and order it. The shop owners were very sweet and thoughtful with their advice with the ring design and recommended that we bring in our own scrap gold and unwanted gems to save money. After having a look at the rings in their portfolio and in their display cases I decided to tell them what I liked and to leave the design completely up to them. I was very surprised and happy with what I got back. I have ended up with a completely unique and romantic ring made with donated gold and gems from my family and friends that matches the heirloom ring guard that they mended and sized as part of the same order. The only thing that my fiance ended up paying for (as was right) was the large center diamond. The turnaround on the ring was very fast and it is gorgeous. Best custom work you will get! Very few jewelry stores do lost wax casting or will custom carve a wax for you, especially if you are asking for sculptural work like animals and symbols instead of just a custom stone setting. Jerry and Joey both are great artists and have done some amazing natural and Native American inspired art. Pricing is up front and is reasonable for custom in-house casting. This is a family operation that has been at this location for many years. Small local businesses rely on good reputation for success and longevity. My friend was familiar with their work and recommended them. My son designed a wedding ring and Jerry was able to reproduce the design perfectly. He used the gold and diamonds my son provided to make the ring, but there was still an $800 out of pocket fee for labor. When I wanted to have my wedding ring redesigned, I went to Jerry. He quoted me an $800 labor price including the break down of the fees. He was able to credit me for the gold and diamonds I brought in to cover the materials cost of the ring. I DID NOT get a second quote from another business. That was my own laziness and I would recommend others to get quotes for your gold/jewelry buy back. What Jerry "paid" for my old jewelry seemed low, but what would I know since I didn't "shop" around? As far as designing the rings, Jerry did an EXCELLENT job. My son and I are happy with our rings. I would recommend Jerry to anyone wanting to have custom jewelry made, but I would also recommend comparison shopping, just as one would do for any major purchase. read more

I have had lots of jewlery made by the McCoys, all if it is fantastic. Had a knecklace built for my mothers 80th birthday, they were able to advise me on how best to do a clasp and how to size the knecklace so that it could be slipped on and off without need of the clasp. The product turned out spectacular and everytime my mother wears it somebody will comment on it. My wife is always happy to see a small box wrapped nicely (they do that for us guys) because she know she will be getting something pretty. My wifes wedding ring was designed by them so that the diamond will not catch on items because she is a teacher and was concerned about that, but as they explained the diamond will still sparkle because of how it is set. I have never sold any gold, but gold is an input product and varies in price day to day, so is just a commodity that pretty much everybody will pay or charge same amount for. The skill of the craftsman is what I prefer to measure, not the commodity, and the skill that they exihbit when building things with is superb. I trust them with all of jewlery needs. read more
