McCormick came out to perform a service visit to diagnose an issue with my furnace. After being here all of 5 minutes the guy determined my furnace was 25 years old and at the end of it's life cycle. He hypothesized that the sound I was hearing was due to "fan going out" and told me it'd cost around 1200 to fix that. He suggested that with the furnace being at he end of it's life cycle it may not be worth it to replace the fan, and would be more worth it to replace the entire furnace. He got his sales guy on the phone with me and they did a great job of implying urgency and informing me of the risks if I chose to wait and something went out. They knocked quite a bit off of the price and made it seem like they were giving me a great deal. and it almost worked. But I trusted my gut instinct and got recommendations from the community on other HVAC companies to get additional opinions from. TURNS OUT, my furnace was manufactured in 2016, installed in 2017. Its not even 8 years old, and is in excellent condition. The bearings on the blower motor are starting to show wear and tear but they're not even that bad yet. AT MOST that would cost $569 to replace.
McCormick flat out LIED to me and tried SCAMMING me into buying a new furnace without even cracking into their tools to open it up and diagnose the actual problem.
To their credit, when I called them out on this they were QUICK to refund me the $125 I paid for the service call. But that's the shadiest business I've experienced.
DO NOT TRUST THEM. If you live in northern Colorado go with A+ Heating and cooling, or Above all Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. WAY better guys who are thorough and knowledgeable. read more
