Absolutely Superb Service. The company was recommended to me by another plumbing and heating…read morecontractor. The person recommending was not comfortable with Geo Thermal. I left a message on a very hot day 4th of July day. Expecting a call back in a few days, but I got one in a few hours. It was 4th of July and Johnson's said they would be at my place the following Monday, 7 July. At 10 o'clock I got a call saying they would be at my place in the early afternoon. At 1:30 I got a call again. The Tech, and former owner showed up. Mr. Johnson went right to business, evaluated my Geo system, and then the air handler. Both were working but wouldn't' t shut off. He tested out the thermostat and then asked when if I could recollect when exactly the problem began. We determined that a previous technician improperly wired my air handler, blowing a sending unit. The thermostat was wired wrong as well. Mr. Johnson made the corrections, replaced the sending unit , and all is well. I just got the bill, Considering a 100 mile round trip service call and 1.5 hours of corrective actions, plus a part... I was pleasantly surprised. I will use this company in the future and recommend others as well.

We had an estimate from Johnsons in 2010 for an in-floor and forced air GeoThermal system. In 2013…read morewe finally had the system installed after securing the necessary financing. In an email Steve Johnson said he reviewed my 2010 estimate and could still do it. Had the system installed art a cost of over $40,000. The system never met their energy estimates and our electric bill shot to over $800 the next two months. We contacted Johnson's and all they had to say was what was your natural gas before this? Regardless, at this price the amount was way over what they had in their 'estimate'. The in-floor heat never seemed to work either and was never warm. Last year we decided to sell our home but wanted to get the in-floor heat fixed. Much to our surprise the people that looked at our system said the in-floor heat was not connected properly and would not heat high enough to work. Furthermore the system was a 'priority' system and the air and in-floor heat would never run together, only one would run at a single time. That meant the basement would practically NEVER get heat as the main floor forced air would take precedent. Additionally,, we found that the main floor in-floor heat had been set so it did not recognize any zones and just ran if heat was required. We asked Johnson's about this and they said (falsely) that we told them we wanted to turn off the in-floor heat to the main floor and only use forced air. In our 2010 estimate they said their system would provide in-floor heat to the main floor and basement, which we wanted. In their 2013 estimate they said it would provide in-floor heat to the basement only. We missed this type-o, but both estimates listed the same equipment. So apparently in 2010 the same equipment could provide in-floor heat to both the main floor and basement but in 2013 it could only provide heat to the basement??!! It didn't matter as the forced-air would run most of the time in the winter and the basement would rarely get heat anyways. Ultimately Johnson's design was inadequate, poorly implemented, and did not work as advertised. Any attempts to have them look at the system cost us hundreds with them only saying the system worked within parameters, and then no follow up. Buyer beware. They may install some systems fine, but their support and customer service is horrible. I have documentation to back all of this up and I'm pursuing legal actions, although it may be up for a tough battle with their business in Iowa and me in Minnesota. If you are in Minnesota, I strongly recommend you see another company based in Minnesota.

Upon the completion of the project, I eagerly gave Tom and ACT Landscaping a very good review. I…read morewas happy overall with the finished project and Tom's communication skills. Unfortunately, I am going to have to revise my review due to his lack of communication AFTER the project was completed and my review was already submitted. During the project, Tom was always reachable and he responded timely to my concerns whether it was through text, email or phone. After the project was completed, it became almost impossible to get him to respond and take action to solve an unexpected erosion issue. The warranty clearly states that they will repair any patio as a result of normal wear and tear for a period of one year. After only four months, one corner of the patio eroded to expose the edging and stakes. The first time, Tom sent someone out to add dirt to the area. A few days later after a rainstorm, the area eroded again. I emailed Tom and asked for a more permanent solution to the erosion issue, and he replied that he was going to take care of it. I waited a good three weeks and there was no response. I emailed him again, and he said he was busy with another project and would come out the following week. I waited another two weeks and then called him directly. There was no response so I left a voice message. I waited for him to call me back, but he didn't. A couple days later, I left another voice message. Now, it's been two months, and he hasn't called, emailed or texted me. There is now snow on the ground. At this point, I don't know if it is worth it to pursue this any further. It is a waste of my time and resources to try to get a response from this company. This project cost me thousands of dollars. Clearly, they are only responsive when they need the rest of the payment. Once the job is done, they feel they have no more reason to address concerns. After this experience, I will definitely not recommend ACT Landscaping to anyone.
