My husband loves some BBQ and I'm a vegetarian, but I love him, so will sometimes entertain restaurants that are maybe not exactly what I would choose. In this case, I'd seen this cool little building in Hot Springs and suggested he might enjoy it. I love a great old retro looking diner, and McClard's did not disappoint. It's definitely nothing fancy, but it smells incredible (even to me) and has a great old vibe. Our server was Kelly, quite possibly the kindest server and person I've ever run across. My husband ordered the Barn Sampler, loaded with every meat they carry. He declared it better than anything we have in Memphis, where we live. I had the best grilled cheese I've ever had, and enjoyed dipping my fries in their barbecue sauce. Kelly told me lots of people come specifically for the grilled cheese. This is a great little spot with great food.

Sooo good!! Excellent friendly service. I had 1/2 rack of ribs and 2 tamales. I couldn't eat it all, and that's saying something. Ribs cooked to a perfect pull off the bone. Tamales are unmatched! See ya next time.

When in Hot Springs, you eat at Mclards. Nothing better. Those tamales are to die for. And the loaded baked potato? Fugeddaboutit - it's the best. 18 stars. So good.

We arrived around 1130an and there was no waiting. Friendly and prompt service! We loved the potato salad, just like grandmas. The ribs were tasty, although a bit skimpy on meat. Just an ol' time bbq joint, very nostalgic but not really a destination for me.

Tried McClards after walking around hot springs all day! Walked in and definitely had a little hole in the wall vibe... our waitress was so sweet and attentive! The food was so delish got a picture of the loaded fries but we didn't get a picture of all the other stuff because we ate too quick lol definitely give this place a try if you're in the mood for no frills good bbq

McLard's is in its own right, part of the history of Hot Springs. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit and will go again. The service was quick and with a smile and everyone was very friendly. I had a half tamale spread and when it was brought to the table I could not believe how big it was, and this was just a half. Let me tell you, it was delicious! It is an old building that is filled with history and character. It was casual and laid back.

Ribs were over done. Tamale spread delicious although not warm enough. Extremely nice servers and spic and span clean inside.

Allie greeted me almost immediately and got me seated and set up with a sweet tea and a menu. She returned just a few minutes later and answered all the questions that I had about the menu - which were many - because there's quite a selection to be had here. I finally settled on the Gouda burger with crispy bacon on a lightly toasted, brioche bun and all the fixings. I upgraded my Fries to beer batter onion rings, and boy was that NOT a mistake. Onion rings were crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside, with a little bit of that tangy beer batter flavor. The burger was piled high with tart, crunchy pickles, crisp lettuce, and a big tomato wedge that was perfectly ripe. Rounding up the presentation was some of the crispies, most perfectly cooked bacon. I've seen in a while and a nice wedge of Gouda cheese, melting, and oozing over it all. On the first bite, you could tell this was definitely chargrilled and done right. The beef was cooked through, but not dried out and the whole thing was a big juicy delicious pile of goodness. My waitress, Allie, was Jonny on the spot with everything. Sort of like the butler from Mr. Deeds; anytime you would start to think about needing something, she would magically appear and practically read your mind, bringing you exactly what you wanted. I was shocked to discover she's fairly new here because she's really good at her job and seems to fit right in. Overall, I'd give the burger and 9.5 out of a 10. It might be able to use just a tad bit of more seasoning. I'd give Allie an 11 out of 10 because she really went above and beyond not just for me, but her service was so good, I actually watched her with the other patrons and she was all over it like a bad topure on Howard Cosell, only in a good

There weren't any vegan items so I did the best I could. I asked for a flatbread without cheese. We got drinks but they weren't really strong. Overall we loved having emo night and a meal to eat. They also had games in the back to play, which we got. It was a great night! We did try to go back the next day, but there was a cover, so we decided to go to another bar instead. This was a cool place to go and I highly recommend!

This place is my must-visit--actually my must-visit twice--every single trip. The vibe? Pure gold. A little gritty, a lot of personality, and somehow both laid-back and rockin' at the same time. It's the kind of spot where the music feels like it's got a heartbeat and the walls have stories (and because they do - read Maxine "Call Me Madam" by Maxine Temple Jones!). And the food...look...the pizza alone is worth a pilgrimage. I don't know what magic they put in that dough, but it's the kind you think about when you're supposed to be thinking about other things. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is amazing--comfort food with swagger. Since I visited last they added ravioli to the menu!! So rich and delicious!! One of the best parts? The people. I've met countless amazing folks during every visit--locals, travelers, characters of all kinds--and every single one adds to the charm of the place. It's got that rare magic where strangers feel like friends within minutes. I have actually met relatives there that I never knew about or heard of!!! The bartenders are the BEST of the BEST!!! The staff is super cool, the atmosphere is electric in that perfectly-imperfect dive-bar way, and it's one of those local treasures you never want to tell too many people about because it's that good. If you want real flavor, real fun, and a place that just feels like home the moment you walk in--this is it.
