We set up tables and chairs in a U-shape, lowered the screen, projected a slide show, had a presentation and a network meeting. There was a separate kitchen area where people could get coffee or water. Someone brought bagels, but it looked like you could do more in the kitchen space should you want to. There were a variety of tables and chairs grouped together throughout the facility creating unique rooms such as a cafe, bar, lounge, and general workspace. If you needed an office or conference room, you could certainly hold it here. I have no idea what the price is for the space. It seems they are missing out on an opportunity to get this information to people visiting. It seems like they should have a large price board advertising this or at the very least require groups meeting here to mention this. In all fairness, they did have a reception area at the front that ai breezed past because it was so early. No one was staffing the area at 7am. This place had a very casual, playful, and informal feel to it. I could imagine renting it out for other group meetings and events. They seem to have all of the basics covered.

We also did a guacamole making competition as a team build activity. She let our facilitator come in the evening before to do set up. Tech was good, the space worked for our needs and all in all we loved it. One cool additional feature they could add sometime in the future would be an ice machine and a filtered water spigot at the sink. These are small things that would only elevate the space even more.

Booked a 2hr Monday morning slot while I was out of the state to shoot a wedding. I flew in on…read moreSunday and then Monday morning woke up to a freeze warning and complete overcast. My models didnt feel safe driving in the freeze warning and neither did I. For a natural light studio a 2hr slot in complete overcast with a freeze warning would be useless. I contacted the studio and they refered to their 24hr policy that cannot be cancelled under ANY circumstance. I understand running a business you need your money, but as a client, I don't think I will be returning. Things happen and there needs to be SOME consideration for a last minute reschedule. Should I have looked closer at the weather? Yes, but I think shooting my brothers wedding 2 days prior would probably keep me a little too occupied to think of such variables as a possible freeze in Texas in October. Extremely disappointed in how this was handled and I wont be bringing my services to Artist Uprising from this point forward.

Kelly's Art Shack is a trendy art studio in the middle of Historic Downtown McKinney…read more This kid-friendly space has activities like video games, board games and even cornhole out on the beautiful courtyard (decorated completely by the owner, Kelly, herself) that is attached to the gallery. I loved relaxing here with co-workers in the evening, not to mention that view of the McKinney water tower from the patio at night cannot be beat. I highly recommend coming to see the unique artwork. My favorite piece was a large, canvas painting of "Woodstock '69," so as soon as I saw it, I had to take home the original before there were only prints available. The art is so affordable and better yet, when you purchase one you become an "artster," which comes with membership benefits. I can't wait for the next live music show and I am hoping to attend a paint party soon. I may even try to book this event space for my toddler's birthday party!
