Drove an hour of the way on the trip from Charleston to Atlanta for this and it was 100% worth the drive. The family running it are the nicest people in the world and the food was out of this world. The fried chicken, pulled pork and rice and hash were absolutely amazing. Have eaten a lot of bbq pork and this was my favorite. The fried chicken is also worth a visit by itself. Crispy as can be while also being juicy and not greasy at all. Would suggest anyone within 50 miles of this place on a TH/Fri/Sat to go! Cash only!

Driving north from Florida and hungry for some good BBQ. Heard about this small joint in Manning, so I push the pedal on the Alfa a bit further toward the floorboards and point the nose toward Manning. It is small in size, but that's the only thing small about McCabe's. Come in, face the counter, pick up your plate and start spooning in the goodies. Like many restaurants down this way, the food's laid out buffet-style, with all-you-can-eat being the standard method of chowing down; and let me tell you, that's exactly what you are going to do: chow down. Start off with the beans, sitting in the thickest sauce you can get and still have it pliable. They are soft, yet firm and the sauce has a nice hint of ham hock, or some other smoky meaty flavor. Nice. The Collard Greens are thick and sit in a vinegar-based juice that at once puckers you up and makes you salivate for the next bite. The pulled pork is what you always hope for (and seldom get) whenever you sidle up to a BBQ joint. Here in the Carolinas the taste can be mustard or vinegar. McCabe's is vinegar. Sweet, tart, mild, biting vinegar. Mighty fine. Mighty fine. All this is topped off with some good southern sweet tea, which is served in a large pitcher. No small glasses in this joint. But wait! As they say, "There's more!" The sweet potatoes. Brilliant orange color. A hint of sweet, a touch of vinegar and, I kid you not, so soft and buttery that you could spread it on your bread with with a knife. So, while I'm stuffing my face, I notice the sign that reads "Ribs $5.89/lb.". Well, add those to the pile, my friend. They arrive, a huge rack of ribs sitting in a small puddle of vinegar sauce. No need for a knife. Lift a rib and it pulls clean away from the meat. All you need do, is grab the meat and lift to mouth. Clean, neat and a taste to die for. I walked out of McCabe's with a full belly and a wallet lighter by only twenty-bucks. Now how can you beat that? Next time you're on I-95 going north or south, don't let Manning go by without stopping here.

We actually passed this place because if you're not really looking carefully, it's easy to miss this unassuming place. "Cash only" and "hang up the cell phone" signs prominently displayed in the window as you walk in. This was hands down some of the best BBQ I have ever had - fried chicken so tasty and all the sides are amazingly delicious. Sweet potatoes, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, hash, hush puppies... MMMMMM! If you're on a diet, you may not want to visit McCabes, but I recommend the splurge. The service was outstanding and Southern fried friendly.

This place is the real deal when it comes to South Carolina barbecue. Must have the hash, pulled pork, fried chicken, rice with their homemade sausage, collard green n mac n cheese. The family running the restaurant is very nice n friendly. So worth the detour. Will definitely be back! $9.95 buffet, the best bbq money can buy

On the South Carolina bbq trail that we picked up at the SC visitor center off 95. We wanted a lunch spot off 95. Short detour. Hard to find, but well worth it. Ala cart or buffet. Tried most everything. It was amazing. Pork bbq, fried chicken, cabbage, coke slaw, white and Dirty rice, and the absolute best yams I have ever tasted. The McCabes served us and we're very friendly. Other customers were greeted like family. Conversations circled throughout as people told stories how they found McCabes . Cannot say enough. Owner even came out to take this picture of my wife and I. Loved it!! Will try and make back in every trip up 95. Note**** only open limited lunch hours. Call before you drop by.

After driving 15 hours on March 21, 2026, my husband and I were genuinely excited to try this place and planned to take our food back to the hotel. Unfortunately, the experience started off poorly and never really recovered. First, parking is extremely limited out front, which is frustrating when you're tired and just want a quick pickup. Inside, things only got worse. The front-of-house staff was shockingly unprofessional. The employee helping us clearly didn't understand her job and had to be corrected multiple times by another staff member--something no customer should have to witness. It created confusion, delays, and zero confidence in our order. We paid about $50 for a sampler, which is not cheap, and yet the same employee argued about giving us the sides because she entered the order incorrectly. If another, more competent employee hadn't stepped in, I'm convinced it would have escalated further. Even then, we never received one of the four sides we paid for. To make matters worse, we were never asked if we wanted drinks to go, and we weren't given plates, silverware, or even BBQ sauce--basic essentials for a takeout order. That's just unacceptable. While waiting, we also watched this same employee tell three separate dine-in families to go sit and wait while she stood there rolling silverware. Completely rude and dismissive. If I had been one of those customers, I would have walked out. This is the first impression customers get, and it's a terrible reflection of how the place is run. Between the disorganization, poor communication, and outright unfriendly behavior, the service was a mess. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the food itself was actually very good. The burnt ends and ribs were the standout--absolutely delicious. But great BBQ can't fully make up for such a frustrating and poorly managed customer experience.

He was SO hospitable, sweet and genuinely welcoming. He gave great recommendations and did not steer us wrong. These days, it's not always easy to come across service like that, which made it even more appreciated. I ordered the Sunset Blush drink and it was delicious. We also got the cornbread and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the BEST cornbread I've ever had. So soft and flavorful. The brisket sandwich was a little dry (could be because we went during closing) but still had really good flavor. The mac and cheese though... WOW. I am very picky with mac and cheese and most places miss the mark, but this tasted homemade. Easily a 10/10. My husband got the peach bourbon burger and said it was great. The kids ate everything in sight which is always a win...lastly the cinnamon roll cheesecake for dessert... phenomenal!!! Overall such a great experience and I'm really glad we stopped in!

So when we came to Myrtle Beach for our family vacation one of the things I really wanted to try was some great authentic whole hog Carolina BBQ. This is the place. I remember seeing Scott's come up on a few shows I had watched and I also saw Rodney on a few YouTube videos, so I was excited to try it out. There's a lot of history here. The staff here are all very welcoming and super friendly. The young women behind the counter were all very helpful. For food we went with the bbq plate, rib plate, and chicken plate. All of the meats were tender and delicious. In this region of Carolina the sauce is primarily a vinegar pepper sauce which I really enjoyed. The tables are set up in the perfect spot, right outside the hanger where they cook the meats... so all the delicious smells from the smoke and meats come wafting through. It's a great experience. My hats off to the staff and family for all their hard work and dedication to the craft. The foods delicious and made with love. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for some great whole hog bbq. Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure the kids licked the bowl clean. Kids Chicken Nuggets - 6 crispy nuggets with a side of choice. Thick breading but good portion and taste. Crinkle fries were a bit hit for this little one. Enjoyed the fries with ranch. Lone Star Brisket Sandwich - Smoked brisket, house-made pickles, and slaw. Brisket looked delicious but was a bit dry and lacked seasoning. The pickles, slaw, and BBQ sauce delivered the moisture and flavor. Smoked Half Chicken - Smaller chicken quarter but tender and moist. Still lacking flavor counting on the BBQ sauce. Had the mac-and-cheese and fries as a side. Mac was cheesy but again dry. Saint Louis Pork Ribs - Good portion but again on the flavor - heavily reliant on the sauce. Sweet tea was perfect and the pickles were delicious! Service wasn't the best; refills were hard to get. I think next time we will avoid a chain and find a hole-in-the-wall establishment.

My inner voice…read moreof confidence, the one that says "it's gonna be great," was already humming before I even stepped inside. At first glance, I wondered what exactly this industrial looking neighborhood had to do with good food. Still, I parked, walked in, and was immediately greeted by the unmistakable aroma of meat that had been slow smoking all day long. A very kind older lady welcomed me and explained that the buffet was all-you-can-eat for just $17. That sounded easy enough. I grabbed a plate and began my journey down the line. There were the staples: rice, collard greens, fried okra, hush puppies. Then came the showstoppers. A massive tray of mac & cheese, golden fried chicken, barbecue chicken, and pulled pork that looked like it had been tended with care. Oh, my. Off to the side sat squeeze bottles of sauce and ketchup, flanked by potato salad, cole slaw, and two varieties of pickles that added a crisp counterpoint to the richness of the meats. I ate far more than I intended, but every bite was worth it. The mac & cheese was excellent, very cheesy and full of flavor. Maybe not quite as good as when Mrs. K. blesses me with her recipe, but still, excellent. The barbecue chicken was moist and seasoned just right. The pulled pork was some of the best I have had, with a few larger pieces mixed in that gave it texture and depth. It was so good it really didn't need any sauce at all. If desserts were offered, I didn't see them. A small scoop of banana pudding would have tied the whole experience together in a perfect knot. Even without it, this was a five-star meal in my book. Yum, and then yum again. [Review 1512 of 2025 - 1366 in South Carolina - 25063 overall]
