First off, I was a professional bookseller for 25 years and I've visited everywhere from…read moreShakespeare and Company in Paris to Powell's in Portland. I'm not mentioning this to show off but impress you with the fact that I know a little something about bookstores so you believe me when I tell you how awesome this bookstore is!!! It's truly one of of the best bookshops anywhere. The store is huge and well laid out, it's mostly used but there's new stock scattered around as well. I've been twice now and have barely scratched the surface. My girls loved the large area devoted to both Harry Potter books and merchandise and they picked up some unique and inexpensive pins. I love the huge collection of sci-fi, the dedicated beats section, literary biographies and the classics section. The prices here are definitely on the low side, I found a near perfect Folio Society edition of a John Buchan short story collection for only $10!!! I love re-reading the Harry Harrison books I enjoyed as a kid and they had a ton for under $5 each! Plus they have a store cat and a amazing bathroom wallpapered in bookstore bookmarks! Not just worth visiting if you're in town. This store is worth a dedicated visit to Chikkiwack.

As someone who once owned a secondhand bookstore, I can say that the Book Man has an excellent…read moreselection of books. The staff are very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They are willing to help people find books they are looking for. On occasion, a staff member has called me a year after I have made an inquiry about a book, to notify me that the store was finally in possession of the title. This shop also has a nice selection of unusual jewelry, T-shirts, and other gift wear.

Walmarts are like major fast food chains worldwide; the same, just different variations…read more This one sells more seafood etc. More things sold in bundles...location, location location. The big thing is it's tax-free with a status card. So, it's worth the look.

I was shopping at the store in Chilliwack, British Columbia on July 2, 2024. This incident occurred…read moreat approximately 1830. When going through the self checkout, my husband and I were scanning our groceries with the hand scanner. An associate locked us out of the scanner but claimed it was "needing to be reset". We then moved to another, to restart the transaction. A woman, claiming to be the "head of security", approached us and told us we needed to unload our groceries onto the table. As we didn't have much, and were not bagging our groceries, we didn't see a reason to do this. We're honest shoppers. We scanned every individual item. I explained to her that there would be no purpose to this as we'd just need to put everything back in the cart to bring it to our car as our reusable shopping bags are in the trunk of our car. She then steps in my face, trying to intimidate me, and repeats that she's the "head of security" and it's "Walmart policy". Nowhere in the store is it stated that groceries must be unloaded onto the table next to the scanners. After we scanned all of our groceries, she said nothing, walked away, and locked our kiosk once again. We stood there and were unable to pay for our groceries and were accused of theft. This is completely unacceptable, insulting, and degrading. We have been shopping at Walmart for years. We have never stolen a thing, and never would. We were openly picking up and scanning every item, there was no secrecy or "shadiness" happening when trying to check out. We just wanted to get our groceries and go. We were then forced to walk backwards through the self checkout line up, and wait in line once again for a person to check us out. There were only two open, and the lines were long. We did so without issue, and paid for our $160.00 grocery bill. This interaction left us feeling violated, disgusted, uncomfortable, and angry. How dare we be accused of something like this, with absolutely no cause for concern? I wonder what the reason we were targeted was? I'd be curious to know what about our profiles set off false alarm bells. This needs to be responded to, and rectified. I'm no longer comfortable even entering the store. It's a shame, as it's close to my house and the closest one is now 20 minutes away in Abbotsford.

I am so happy I made the drive out to Abbotsford to visit The Dressy Attic. I was a little hesitant…read moreto purchase a used wedding dress but I am glad I came here instead of looking at individual dresses on Craigslist or paying full price at a bridal store. I was able to look online at all the selections so I had an idea of dresses and price ahead of time (something which you can't get a traditional bridal stores) and they had all the dresses picked for me before I arrived. They were very accommodating even after I was 45 minutes late for my appointment due to traffic. The girls were super helpful and were patient while I tested out the dresses from every angle and even tried a couple on again (making her lace up the back for a second time- sorry!). Prices were very reasonable and they even had some new dresses to choose from. I was excited with my choice which had a bustle already included (something I would have had to pay more money for elsewhere) and they even cleaned it for me for free. I am thrilled to have found a dress $1000-1500 cheaper than I would have had to pay elsewhere. They even offered to accept the dress back on consignment after my wedding. I would recommend The Dressy Attic to anyone looking to save money for their wedding (and they also sell prom dresses!).
